Monkeys, monkeys everywhere So, you like wildlife? No problem! Monkeys are infamous for wreaking havoc and chaos on campus. They are not afraid of humans and they can come up to your table and snatch your food even if you are sitting in front of it. As a UM student, it’s super important to know the timing of monkeys, especially for residential colleges more prone to monkey attacks. Lock your windows and doors every time you are out of the rom. We are sure you don’t want to come back finding things all over your room and a big mess to clean up in the evening. MidValley – Favourite Lepak Spot It’s a shopping mall nearest to UM (replaced by KL gateway mall recently). It has many restaurants/cafes. There is cinema for you to have Wednes-date. By the way, it is not the only one. There are other shopping mall that you can reach by MRT, LRT and bus. So enjoy your university life with all these shopping mall! Last Minute Study Hotspots Got a test tomorrow? Assignment due tomorrow morning? Got presentation? You'll probably hear a lot of people going "SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK" and disappear from their hostel
There are a lot of last minute study spots, especially the 24 Hour Studying Corner, KPS (closes at 12am except during exam periods), Faculty of Economics, Dataran Kimia...
The Legendary Bukit Cinta
This place has been famous for UM lovebirds. It's no surprise if you see people getting into relationships in university (heck, you'll see it happening A LOT). This "Bukit" is rumored to be the perfect spot just enough to escape the hectic student lifestyle. Bukit Cinta is located inside the premises of the university and it is also a place for running enthusiasts to work their legs off! Or it could be a place for bros to hang out (together alone) if they got no couples. Perhaps. The Samali Tree House Yes, UM has got an awesome TREEHOUSE! It's just beside Tasik Varsiti and anyone is free to go up! At night, the lights help give a romantic atmosphere. It's rumored to be another dating sanctuary other than Bukit Cinta. Otherwise, it's a nice place to hang out with friends. Just remember to take care of the area's cleanliness and NO VANDALISM towards the tree. Beside the treehouse, the Tasik Varsiti is a hotspot for people to jog or take a walk too to take their time off their studies. Though you'll hear a lot of quacking from the ducks. UM WiFi? The Portal? It isn’t actually that bad (depending on locations). However, it is pretty slow during or nearing the exam period. And the horror on the Portal when everyone is registering for courses. It's hard to keep calm!
It is already our 3rd batch of Clean Our Plate (COP) exchange participants. Global Village is an event which our exchange participants from all over the world will showcase their cultures to you! It will be the best way to can get to learn more about other countries without to travelling abroad.
AIESEC Night is an annual event for you to understand more about us as an organisation, what we do and our activities. We will be having a few speakers to tell you more about AIESEC.
AIESEC (pronounced as "eye-sek") originally stood for “Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales” (English: International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Sciences). We no longer use this full name because members can now be graduates and undergraduates from any university background. So we welcome you in AIESEC! >> Don't forget to register! “I believe what I'm doing is important for the operation of AIESEC. It will indirectly impact the societies and people that we try to reach out through our organization.
My best memory in AIESEC is I have gained knowledge and experience that I can never get in the classroom. Friends that you get in AIESEC are all very purposeful and it will definitely drive you more in striving for more impacts! One word to describe AIESEC is CONNECTION; in AIESEC, we make connections with people from all walks of life regardless of their backgrounds, ethnicities or nationalities. These connections have led us to endless possibilities and reaching out for more positive impacts to the societies. Chia Pei Ying Department of Finance and Legalities Term 16/17
“In AIESEC, we cater experience that might be important to someone in their own way.
My best memory in AIESEC is my first Malaysia Leadership Development Seminar (MyLDS). It's so much fun and crazy things that we have done together and understand our group each as a person and bonded at the end of the conference. One word to describe AIESEC is SELF-DISCOVERY. As time goes by, I discover more of myself, my weaker side of personality has amplified as the responsibility I took became heavier. For example, I'm a strong feeler, I tend to appreciate things over being critical (whether in communication or in working), but the role I'm holding needs me to be more critical to analyze problem. I'm a lastminute worker rather than a planner where it contradicts with my job scope requirement as well. The list goes on.. Aware, admit and change. It's never an easy process, but it's always good to understand more of one-self. Look Yuen Kei Department of People Management Term 16/17
