Member Induction Night An Induction night was held in early October specially for the new members of AIESEC in UM. The induction night serves to introduce members to the organization and how leadership is developed through AIESEC. Special thanks to Ming Hui, former Vice President of AIESEC in UM for being the speaker of the induction night. We believe that the new members have learnt a lot from your sharing and they’re ready to start their journey with AIESEC. “We Commit, We Achieve”

NILC is an AIESEC conference which focuses on developing leadership to new and current AIESEC members. All the 14 AIESEC entities in Malaysia came together for this conference for 3 days at Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) In this conference, we had a lot of fun and new learning. There were lots of reflections on why is it so important for us to serve the youth in Malaysia Let’s hear from our members on what they’ve gained in this conference.
In short, NILC for me is a journey of relearning my purpose in AIESEC, strengthening my personal values and goals. This was my second national/regional conference and my first as a Team Leader. As a Team Leader, I have learned and gained so much insight into my department. I got to know other AIESECers who are in the same department as mine and I get to know how their local committees are able to strive for their goals. As one of the delegates from UM, I am glad to say that I got to know so many new members and the EBMTs. I felt that NILC catalyzed the bonding between the new members. As for me, I finally get to meet Vice Presidents and Directors of other departments and I have much better idea of what they do in the departments. Jia Hsien Director of International Relations Outgoing Global Volunteer
NILC is an event which reminds me what have I strived for so far. It is a time for me to escape from operations and recap of the organization's focus. It is also a time for me to meet up AIESECers from other Local Committee and reminds me that our LC is not alone in this journey. It is a short break but with fruitful gain. Chris Director of Clean Our Plate Incoming Global Volunteer My biggest takeaway is the satisfaction for being an AIESECer and Team Leader for my team when I see my members(especially new members) making friends with AIESECers outside of UM, learning and enjoying the conference. The insights external speakers shared on team management helped me to be a better leader inside and outside of AIESEC Ka Chun Vice President Partnership Development

My biggest learning is that one of the most effective ways to explore the possibilities of your future and to learn is by having meaningful conversation where you believe that the person you are talking to knows something that you don't , and it is true and obvious at the same time ,but we don't always have this approach while talking to be people. The amount of the sharing spaces is outstanding and incredibly useful , where you not only get to know people personally from a short conversation because you listen with intention to learn, but also your ego and perspective shrinks a little bit to allow other people's perspectives to shine in meaningful way so that you can actually learn from there experience and grow through the process. The conference is relevant in the methods it uses to let you reflect and think critically about yourself ,your contribution and why you are doing what you do, because it is usually the case that we articulate the WHY and then forget about and get consumed in the HOW and WHAT in manner that at some points or journey seems meaningless as it starts gradually moving away from our WHY. Omar Vice President People Management
During the conference, delegates in the senior track had to go out and engage with the public about Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). In AIESEC most of our operations revolves around SDGs, and when we engaged the public they are somewhat aware about these goals and their importance. This gives me hope that what we are striving for is still relevant to Malaysians. This was about my 8th AIESEC conference and I think every conference is quite important because along the way we can get quite caught up with operations and conferences can act as a strong reminder of why we do what we do. Geetha Vice President Incoming Global Volunteer
When things go wrong, it's up to you to make the best of it. My exchange experience has taught me on problem solving skills and living independently in a place so far away from home. No textbooks or online articles could teach me as much as my experience has taught me about living in a foreign land, and no amount of internet surfing prepared me for the people I met in China, they are some of the most amazing, kind and understanding people despite differences in our culture. It was a humbling experience in a country that is so fast paced and so much bigger on any scale compared to Malaysia. Jia Hsien Choo Global Volunteer in China
My journey to Taiwan is indescribable. There, I found a family and a place I felt close to home. I went to Hsinchu, Taiwan under the SDG quality education. I aimed to inspire and teach others English and Malaysian culture and background. I inspire others, but it was me who got more inspired by the people I met-the delegates, EPs, AIESECers and my host family. Thank you for the once in a lifetime kind of experience, and shout out to those who are brave enough to take the first step being far away from home and adapting to a different environment
