AIESEC Planet - Steps to Poland

Page 1

POLAND Before leaving, the research I did told me that this winter was going to be a cold one. But little did I know that it’d be this cold. My father was actually worried if I was going to die – what exaggeration! Apart from the weather, I checked out Lublin, the city where I’d be based in, the Culture House where I’d be working at and the currency that they used. The exchange rate wasn’t much but daily dairy products are much cheaper than here in Malaysia!

AIESEC-ers in Poland are a lovely bunch! EP Servicing was fantastic as they had everything ready for us when I arrived. There were many other EPs who had already arrived and we soon became almost inseparable! We even had our own EP buddies for the duration of our stay there which helped our integration with the local community so much easier and better. There were a couple of reasons why I chose Poland and this project, Across the Skyline. The first was because I did not want to pigeon-hole myself into just one type of project as I had here in Taylor’s and this project aimed at exposing children to diverse cultures. The other was that, Across the Skyline was a wellplanned project. The promptness of their replies sealed my faith in it. I can say my choices have all paid off as I’ve learnt so much in the few months that I was there. It was a major success as it achieved its aim, and more! Life in Poland is so beautiful and so was the travelling! The people I’ve met, the places I’ve been to, the food I ate, have all touched my life in one way or another. I’d love to go back, if only to just to meet my newfound friends again!
