“We’ve built our chalet programme slowly and carefully so far, taking care to choose the right properties to add to our programme. We’re always on the lookout for new opportunities to develop our chalet range, but the customer always comes first and as such, any new additions must tick all the Ski Talini boxes. Likewise, if we found another suitable ski resort with an authentic mountain village feel and linked to an incredible ski area, then expanding further afield could certainly be something that would attract our type of guest.”

Luxury Chalet Book is a ski chalet holiday agency offering a personal service with an intimate knowledge of luxury chalets and ski holidays. With an extensive portfolio, they work with over 700 properties in four countries and in over 40 leading European ski resorts.

The company was founded by Simon Gill in 2014, after spending 12 years working in ski resorts in France, Austria and Canada. This experience was further enhanced through several more years liaising and working with ski travel agencies.

In an increasingly competitive market, people are understandably more price sensitive and by having a larger selection of properties, especially self-catered and with independent travel, it has allowed us to offer greater flexibility and availability for a more affordable winter holiday. We have developed our practice so that we are now working with more owner-operated properties. These more unique properties with either local staff, or the owners themselves in attendance, afford the true home from home experience chalet holidays are rightly famed for.

Moving forward, we believe there will be a further focus on more specialist winter and ski holidays. Recently, we are seeing many chalets creating individually tailored experiences, with a special focus on cuisine and chalets working with Michelin starred chefs, to guided off-piste adventure weeks and chalets with their own dedicated heli-skiing operation. We understand this trend and we are being pro-active in meeting our clients’ desire for more new and varied activities.

Looking ahead, Christy is keen to tell us about the renovation of The Damai’s restaurant. The industry is becoming increasingly more digital, but Christy notes that the team and its staff still place a firm emphasis on direct guest engagement.

“Regarding the future, we are in the midst of changing our restaurant and finance back end systems. We have gone digital with customer feedback as well. The key focus is direct guest engagement, however, amidst the rapid growth of technology we do retain the human touch aspect in everything we do, that is what we believe is important in this business.

“Ultimately, it will be a phenomenal achievement if we are able to continue in a similar vein in the next 20 years, the way that we have expanded in the past 20 years. There is a plan of another airport to be constructed in the North Bali and that is obviously an exciting development for the island and tourism - and definitely for The Damai.”

Presented very nicely on the outside, the Cricketers of Redbourn is a very traditional looking pub. It is steeped in character and surrounded by the lovely Hertfordshire countryside. When customers venture inside, there is a clever mix of old and new, with staff working tirelessly to serve customers with drinks and light snacks, and it is also decorated with a very traditional feel. At the back of the venue is a 24-seat restaurant, with the interior providing a more contemporary feel, looking sleek and sophisticated, and styled to produce a relaxed atmosphere. The well-spaced seating is excellent for visitors to enjoy their food, whether it be lunch or dinner.

During the summer, guests are able to dine with a view, overlooking the wonderful scenery that is Redbourn Common.

Regarding the food served at the pub, guests can enjoy the fact that the chefs prepare everything on the premises, using only the best ingredients, all of which are locally sourced whenever possible. Spoilt for choice, the team also serve a wide range of traditional British and continental food, including many pub classics, a favourite of many customers.

Joanne Kent established Jo Blu Salon in Chiswick, 2006, after managing and teaching for one of the biggest brands in the hairdressing industry. Austin Lee Works Showcased in London Maison Assouline collaborates with Simon and Michaela de Pury and Carl Kostyál for world first Frieze London showcase.

The Frieze luxury book publisher Assouline will collaborate with art-world power couple, Simon & Michaela de Pury to present a curated show of never before seen works

by Austin Lee. The exhibition, run between the 2nd and the 14th October, was hosted at Maison Assouline in partnership with Carl Kostyál Gallery.

Maison Assouline is a one-of-a-kind ‘culture concept’ store, located in the heart of Piccadilly, which has firmly established itself within the London scene. It has become a sanctuary of culture and style for Londoner’s, making it the perfect place to host this year’s most exciting Frieze London show. The store will host a curated selection of art installations, sculptures and paintings chosen by the de Purys and will be displayed throughout the Grade II listed building by Edwin Lutyens.

Simon de Pury comments on the collaboration and the excitement he and his team feel to be part of something so immense.

“We are thrilled to be exhibiting new work by Austin Lee. He is an exciting young artist whose work is already being collected by some major collectors around the world. We are very happy to collaborate on this with our friend Carl Kostyal and are most grateful to Prosper Assouline for lending us his spectacular building on Piccadilly. It is one of my favourite houses built by the great architect Edwin Lutyens.”

The exhibition entitled ‘Alight’, showcases a new art installation, sculpture and paintings by American contemporary artist Austin Lee. Lee is an internationally recognised artist based in New York and is famed for his playful, airbrushed acrylics that illustrate the experience of living life through screens in the traditional medium of painting. Lee creates drafts of his idiosyncratic pictures on an iPad, then transferring them to paintings and drawings using airbrush and conventional painting techniques.

Artist Austin Lee lives and works in New York. He received an MFA in Painting from Yale School of Art and a BFA from Tyler School of Art. He has since staged several solo exhibitions in the US and Europe. He was included in M WOODS, Beijing’s Full of Peril and Weirdness: Painting as a Universalism, 2015 as well as projects at the Tate Modern, London. His work is currently showcased at Juxtapoz x Superflat curated by Takashi Murakami at Vancouver Art Gallery. His work has been championed and curated by artists like Takashi Murakami, Peter Saul and Marylin Minter and written about in Art in America, ARTnews, New York Magazine, Leap, Time Out New York and London, The NY Observer, Hyperallergic, Black Book, Kaleidoscope Magazine, The Spectator, and Rhizome. de Pury de Pury provides independent curatorial and art advisory services for private individuals, museums, corporate and institutional collections. With expertise ranging from emerging contemporary artists to established blue-chip artists. Their aim is to facilitate the relationship between artists, collectors, institutions and art venues, thereby enabling them to offer an impressive portfolio of services for their clients worldwide.

With regards to the venue, as an exhibition space with twin locations in Stockholm and London, Carl Kostyál, in the UK located on the famous Savile Row of London, this stunning space is ideal for such an innovative exhibition.

A Ship off the Old Block Luxury holiday provider Pandaw announces the launch of the new Rv Sabei Pandaw.

Pandaw Expeditions Ltd is the pioneer of authentic river expeditions throughout Southeast Asia. The unique design of Pandaw’s small but powerful shallow-draft ships, beautifully hand-crafted in teak and brass, allows them to sail through a tapestry of remote rivers and coastal routes in Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and China.

The original company, known as the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company, founded in 1865, was acquired by Paul and Roser Strachan in 1995. Renamed Pandaw, following the discovery and acquisition of this last remaining Clyde-built steamer, the company has consistently cruised through new frontiers, pushing the boundaries beyond its original home of Burma. Pandaw brought its unique concept and style to expeditions along the Mekong River through Indochina in 2003, inaugurated new river cruises on the Ganges in India during 2009 and pioneered the first routes on both the Red River in Northern Vietnam and the Upper Mekong through Laos into China in 2015.

Recently, the firm have announced the addition of a third ship to join their Laos Flotilla on the Mekong River in September 2019. This will be the 17th vessel in the Pandaw Fleet that currently ply the waterways of six South-East Asian countries.

Youthful Pandaw travellers are an intrepid bunch and use the vessel as a base for expeditions ashore, trekking or by mountain bike. Cuisine on board is mixed Laos-Thai and international dishes are available on request. Last year

Aurora and Endeavour II, both entirely custom in their design, mark a renewed focus on bespoke commissioning and yacht design for the Italian shipyard.

With these two yachts, Rossinavi celebrates its point of difference as the only ‘super yacht atelier’ by exploring the rarity of individual components, material innovation and emphasising style. The global yacht community were invited to discover the design details of both yachts during Monaco Yacht Show 2017.

The Rossinavi brand was founded in 2007 upon the legacy of expert welders Fratelli Rossi (Rossi Brothers) who had established a reputation for high-quality metal construction of boat hulls since 1980. This expertise has allowed Rossinavi to maintain a level of quality that sees each ship crafted entirely in-house, at their shipyard in Viareggio, Tuscany. Today, after launching several luxury yachts from 40-70 metres in length, and with several in production, the shipyard enjoys growing recognition for its rapid ascent into the market and its ongoing position as the only super yacht company in Italy that is still owned and operated by its founding family.

The first new addition, Aurora, is a 49M aluminium super yacht which intelligently juxtaposes the owner’s passion for sport and adventure with a luxuriously detailed and modern interior living space. Design cues taken from vintage motor sport are exaggerated and expanded to super-yacht proportions.

Additionally, Aurora features a spacious, open concept layout, with three large social areas, including a sunbathing area or ‘beach salon’. The beach area precedes a recessed but completely open dining space that maintains maximum privacy without compromising the benefits of the exposure to the outdoors.

The launch of the Midleton Cask Circle coincides with the release of Midleton Very Rare Vintage 2017, the 34th edition of the renowned and highly collectable range of Irish whiskeys, first unveiled in 1984.

The Midleton Very Rare Cask Circle Club invites whisk(e) y enthusiasts and collectors to obtain their own cask of Midleton Very Rare Irish whiskey from a variety of exceptional casks hand selected by Master Distiller, Brian Nation for their quality and rarity. Selecting a cask of Midleton Very Rare whiskey is a truly unique experience.

Once members have chosen a cask that suits their personal taste, they can bottle it immediately or instead request bottles of their unique whiskey as and when required.

The programme boasts an array of different whiskey styles and ages – from 12 to 30 years old – that have been matured in a range of cask types including Bourbon, Sherry, Malaga, Port, Irish Oak and Rum. Thirty casks have been made available at launch, with prices available on request.

Midleton Very Rare 2017 has been specially blended from a hand selected batch of ex-Bourbon Barrels ranging in age from 12 years to 32 years. The 2017 edition also marks a redesign for the brand, featuring a unique bottle design and presentation box that further completes the overall Midleton Rare experience and better reflects the quality and rarity of the whiskey inside. The elegant bottle takes inspiration from a writer’s ink well and a soft dip in the shoulder echoes the nib of a pen, creating a subtle link to Ireland’s literary legacy.
