Pavilion Design for the Course "Atmospheres in Architecture" of the University of Thessaly
Location: The Waterfront Promenade ("Kordoni"), Volos, Greece
As part of the "Atmospheres in Architecture" course in the 7th semester, I designed a pavilion on Volos's vibrant waterfront promenade, known as the "Kordoni." The project explores the interplay between space, atmosphere, and user experience, integrating natural and built elements to create a dynamic spatial encounter.
The pavilion is designed to respond to the site's unique characteristics, such as the proximity to the sea, the interplay of light and shadow, and the rhythmic flow of people along the promenade. Its structure incorporates lightweight materials, emphasizing openness and interaction with the surrounding environment. The design invites users to pause, interact, and experience the transitional space between land and water, encouraging a reflective connection with the site's atmosphere.
