FOLLOW THE SUN ...but safely partnership proposal

In 2022, 2023, and 2024, the AIM at Melanoma Foundation was a beneficiary of Lilly Pulitzer’s Community Giving Days.
In 2022, on a Saturday during Melanoma Awareness Month in May, AIM partnered with three stores in Florida for their Community Giving Days.
In 2023, we had the honor of expanding this partnership to all 19 stores across Florida, significantly benefiting our Foundation.
In 2024,we again partnered with all 19 Florida stores, this time on a Friday.
In all years we provided each store with complimentary sunscreen packets and informative handouts about sun safety for both adults and children.

Imagine the impact! The possibility of extending the Community Giving Day nationwide is exciting. So many more people in so many more states would be educated on sun safety and associate it with their love of Lilly Pulitzer.
Sun safety is especially relevant for Lilly Pulitzer’s customers, who cherish time spent outdoors in beautiful clothes and who also care deeply about their skin looking its best. Emphasizing proper sun protection through clothing (such as Lilly’s vast selection of UPF fabrics), sunscreen, and hats is critical to preventing skin cancer, including melanoma, the most lethal form of skin cancer.
By expanding our collaboration, we aim to educate and empower more people about crucial sun safety measures and raise awareness about this deadly disease. Our objective is to lower melanoma rates and ensure everyone can safely enjoy the sunshine.
With your support, we are poised to significantly influence public health and cultivate a sun safety culture that aligns with the beautiful and active lifestyle embodied by the Lilly Pulitzer brand.
In order to make this nationwide day a success, we propose to:
run an article in our newsletter (sent to 20,000+ households), place your logo on the partnership page of our website, put the event information in a prominent location on our website (60K unique visitors per month), and post it on our social media channels.
All of this will hopefully drive sales and most importantly, inform our community of your support.
Will you expand our Community Giving Day nationwide?
Founded in 2004 in California's Bay Area, AIM at Melanoma is a renowned global nonprofit organization committed to the fight against melanoma.
Our core belief is that research is the key to the cure.
We also believe that education is key in combating this deadly disease. The majority of melanoma cases can be prevented with appropriate UV protection measures Our focus also includes education about early detection and treatment.
We direct and fund research for the cure.
Initiatives include the Melanoma Tissue Bank Consortium, the International Melanoma Working Group, and the Pediatric Melanoma Registry.
We raise funds and awareness. Our flagship events, Steps Against Melanoma, are community walks that take place in 20+ cities each year from coast to coast
We educate and advocate. We bring our message, Sun Safety is for EveryBODY, to activities that range from professional sporting events to Lilly Pulitzer Community Giving Days.
We work with our community. Our supporters host a variety of events from Pour & Sips to cocktail soirees all aimed at raising funds for our melanoma education and research initiatives.
And we collaborate with companies like Lilly Pulitzer, who aim to do good.
Dallas, Texas, 2024
Melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, is a rising concern, with diagnosis rates nearly doubling over the past 20 years and outpacing many other cancers.
Each day 267 cases of invasive melanoma are diagnosed in the U.S., which means 11 people learn they have melanoma every hour.
One blistering sunburn in childhood or adolescence more than doubles your chances of developing melanoma later in life.
Lighter skin color and overexposure to UV light from the sun or tanning beds are major risk factors for melanoma.
Women under 50 are more likely to develop melanoma than any other cancer, except breast or thyroid cancer.
Melanoma and various forms of skin cancer are notably more prevalent among individuals with fair skin and numerous freckles.
In women, melanoma tends to occur more frequently on the lower body, especially the legs.
Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun is a major risk factor for melanoma and other forms of skin cancer.
Let’s start a conversation! We hope to be chosen by Lilly Pulitzer stores for a Community Giving Day again this year, and we hope you’ll consider expanding our collaboration to a nationwide event.
Your Community Giving Day is the perfect opportunity for us to work together towards a common goal: Keeping your customers’ skin as beautiful as the clothes they wear.
For you, the collaboration brings attention to your brand's commitment to giving back and also gives your customers a chance to learn about melanoma For us, it provides a platform to spread education and awareness of the ways to prevent this deadly disease, and it financially supports our education and research mission
Lilly’s Community Giving Day is an example of a collaboration that drives meaningful change By working together, we can make a significant impact on melanoma prevention, education, and research
We look forward to creating a successful Community Giving Day in May that will benefit both of our organizations. Thank you for considering this opportunity.
Sincerely,
Alicia Rowell, Vice President AIM at Melanoma Foundation
