at AI Expo Africa
In France, AI is one of the national key priorities, as President Emmanuel Macron highlighted in his keynote address during the “AI for Humanity” conference, held at the College de France in March 2018. By 2023, France will invest more than 1.5 billion euros in the field of AI. Four interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Institutes have been created in 2019, having for objective to raise French competitiveness by strengthening the scientific and industrial ecosystem.

AS PART of its strategy for innovation, the Embassy of France in South Africa, together with Business France, have decided to fully engage in the AI Expo, the biggest trade event dedicated to Artificial Intelligence on the African continent, by showcasing French expertise through the participation of scientists and innovators. They have joined as Premium Sponsors. French experts and entrepreneurs will showcase their know-how in diverse fields such as augmented mobility, indoor air quality and energy management, collaborative software, augmented reality, massive digitisation of cultural

heritage, complex adaptive systems and humanoid robotics. Through the support and participation of a highlevel delegation, the French Embassy seeks to foster the development of long-term relations between French and South African ecosystems. We will take the opportunity of the biggest artificial intelligence event in Africa to announce a joint French-South African initiative intended for young science-based companies and to promote the next RoboCup, the largest competition of autonomous robotics and AI around the world, taking place in Bordeaux in 2020.
