The AIP would like to take this opportunity to welcome Leigh Hooper

AAIP, General Manager - Labels & Packaging, Ball & Doggett to the Institute and share a little bit about who he is and what he does in the industry. Please join with us in welcoming him to the AIP.

1. Why did you join the AIP? What benefits do you believe the AIP offers all their members?

L eigh: Bec oming a member of the AIP was important to me, firstly to connect with a community that is heavily invested in the future of the packaging industry, and as an extension to this, learn from this networks knowledge and experiences. This Institute ensures that it's members are well informed on industry developments via various communications, newsletters, webinars, seminars, trade and networking events.

2. How long ha ve you been in the industry? What are your areas of expertise?

Leigh: I have been a part of the print industry since I was 17 years old, starting as a Graphic Designer and since working in various roles including Print Sales, Paper Sales, Digital Media Manager, General Manager of Sign, Display and Digital and most recently General Manager of Labels & Packaging.

I hav e been very fortunate to work within the Ball & Doggett Group over the past 14 years (previously Focus Paper and BJ Ball Group). Ball & Doggett is owned by the Ovol Group, who specialise in global distribution of print and consumable materials. Given this e xposure to various areas of print over the years, I have a diverse skillset and extensive knowledge of the industry.

3. Wha t is your current job role and what are your responsibilities?

Leigh: My cur rent role is General Manager of Labels & Packaging within the Ball & Doggett Group. My core responsibilty is to oversee the strategic direction of various categories within the Labels & Packaging division, which include Cartonboard Packaging, Flexible Packaging, Food Service & Industrial Packaging, Plastic Packaging and Self-Adhesive Roll Label.

Supporting each of these ca tegories with supply chain management, inventory management, product development, sales strategies, key account management, marketing and M&A strategies all form a part of my responsibilities within this role.
