PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Dear friends the year 2012-13 has been a phenomenal year as far as AIPMA is concerned.

Having been the President of this illustrious industrial association of Indian plastic industry has been a pleasure and privilege that probably I will cherish for the rest of my life.

The Indian plastic industry prominently the processing sector has seen a lot of challenges as far as the business scenario is concerned, the slowdown in the overall Indian economy has left its imprint on the plastic industry at large.

In spite of the above scenario we at AIPMA have tried to do our best for the industry, by taking up various initiatives like arranging the first ever Job Fair at AIPMA House, an effort to help the manpower requirements of the industry. Congratulations are due to Mr. Kishore Sampat, Chairman, Job Fair Committee for the idea and successful execution.

Seminars conducted by MSME Cell at AIPMA House under Chairmanship of Mr. Raja Shah, to make the members aware of the various incentives available to the small scale units as regards to exhibition participation, visits to International Exhibitions, funds support for Technology Up-gradation and so on.

AIPMA in association with UNIDO had arranged interactive sessions on Technology Up-gradation, Energy Audit Programme. Recently, we are in process of organizing a LEAP Programme initiative in GOA jointly with UNIDO for the plastic industry a 3 day interactive programme with inspiration and innovative ways to manage growth by MSME units will be the theme.

This is the first time where we signed an MOU with Elite Plus a leading agency for being joint organizers for a conference and panel discussion on various topics that are of prime importance to the industry like opportunities and development in Indian Vinyl industry, followed by conference related to Injection Moulding and Blow Moulding Trends and Development.

Team AIPMA was also instrumental in submitting a prebudget memorandum to the Govt. in a professional manner covering the demands and expectation of our industry, the results is that AIPMA views are now being called for by various bodies of the Commerce and Industry Department.

We have been successful in working closely with our p a r e n t m i n i s t r y, T h e Department of Chemicals a n d Pe t r o c h e m i c a l s popularly known as DCPC, on various issues of the i n d u s t r y, A I P M A w a s fortunate enough to have Secretary DCPC, Mr. Indrajit Pal visit in AIPMA House in Mumbai and to take firsthand knowledge of our activities. Under his guidance we are looking at promoting Recycling Initiative throughout the industry which according to him is the need of the hour, the image of plastics as bad for environment needs to be changed.

We have made written representation to the Tariff Commission of India regarding difficulties faced by plastic industry due to signing of FTA with various countries wherein import duties on finished products are close to nil, which is hurting the industry badly.

Our views on National Manufacturing policy required for plastic industry have been submitted to the committee through Confederation of Indian Industry.

Over the year AIPMA has been instrumental in challenging a PIL for ban of use of liquor in PET Bottles.

Citing reasons that PET releases Carcinogenic gases. We are also a part of opposing ban on polybag in Delhi.

It is my pleasure to share with you that this year as President of AIPMA I have been elected on National Council of Confederation of Indian Industry popularly known as CII. Also been elected on the Managing Committee of Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM) wherein we are supporting its cause against LBT. Being a Governing Council Member of CIPET have been closely associated with its activities for the Plastic Industry. 3rd National Plastic Awards for the Industry being one initiative, Conference on Innovative Composite Raw Materials held in Lucknow being another Industry friendly initiative. DG CIPET, Dr. S. K. Nayak has always been positive towards efforts of AIPMA for the Plastic Industry, also had the previledge of being nominated as expert panel member for review of Centre of Excellence set up by CIPET in Chennai and Pine under order from Government of India DCPC.

National Exhibitions like Plexpo in Gujarat, Plasto in Pune, Polyindia in Chennai Iplex in Chennai to name a few attended by myself and team members, wherein AIPMA had its own booth through which activities were highlighted in view of Plastivision 2013. We had PVI Launch Functions and Industry Meets at most of above exhibitions which again were a grand success.

Plastivision India 2013 under the chairmanship of Mr. Raju Desai and Team AIPMA promised to be a exhibition which will set up high standards.

Internationally we had recognition at Koplas in Korea wherein I was a part of the opening ceremony, Chinaplas 2013 was a grand success for having lead a delegation of more than 300 members of the industry.

Chairman Delegation, Mr. Ajay Desai needs to be congratulated for the same. First time ever Internationally we were able to organise a B2B meeting for our Indian Delegates with Chinese Exhibitors of about 250 numbers which was a phenomenal success by any standards. Our partners in China M/s. MeOrient Team did an excellent job.

Signed an MOU with Society of Plastic Industry popularly known as SPI USA, for their participation and organising an Indo-US Summit during Plastivision India 2013, again an first time initiative wherein USA Plastic Industry has shown keen interest in Indian Plastic Market.

Membership drive has also been a great success under the leadership of Chairman, Mr. Chandrakant Turakhia enrolling of students who are studying plastic related courses across India as Members of the Association is one more innovative step by Team AIPMA towards developing Future Entrepreneurship for the growing Indian Plastic Industry. Coco Cola India has become a member of AIPMA which is again a matter of pride for us, they are looking at AIPMA to support their cause of PET Bottle recycling and further the cause of Green Environment. I had the privilege of being invited to inaugurate their PET Bottle compacting facility at their Dasna Plant in Ghaziabad. They plan to do such environment friendly initiative to all their MFG facilities across India.

This year has seen a lot of activities and historical first time initiatives, one such occasion is the purchase of AIPMA own office at Chennai and Kolkata, with this acquisition not only AIPMA has got PAN India presence, probably the only association to have its own offices in all four major metro cities of India.

Have had the privilege of inaugurating the Chennai office on 27th June 2013, and the Kolkata office on 12th August, 2013 as a President both these days are

momentous and part of history, this has been possible only because of selfless dedication put in by all Past Presidents of the Association, Office Bearers, Managing Committee members both Past and Present as well as the support of all AIPMA members. With this, the resolve to get closer to our regional members has become more solid, I am sure the involvement and activities of AIPMA members at these centre will go a long way in continuing the legacy of this 67 year old organization whose motto is service to the plastic industry.

Finally, it is time to thank the Members and Managing Committee of AIPMA for having the faith in me and my team of office Bearers, allowing us to work on new initiative, carry forward the vision of AIPMA to be a catalyst for the growth of the Indian Plastic Industry.

A special word of appreciation to Mr. Arvind Mehta for whole heartedly guiding my young team with his mentorship, Mr. R. K. Aggarwal, Mr. Anil Bansal, Mr. Ashok Agarwal, Mr. Manish Dedhia our Vice Presidents for their support in taking up regional activities respectively, more so for Office opening in Chennai Mr. Harish Dharamsi, Mr. Hiten Bheda and Mr. Y. V. Raman also Mr. Kailash Murarka and Mr. Sanju Desai for Kolkata Office opening.

Warm appreciation o his efforts to discharge the role of Hon. Secretary Mr. Hiten Bheda, Hon. Treasure Mr. Sanju Desai for streamlining the accounts department, Hon. Jt. Secretary Mr. Haren Sanghavi for his enthusiasm. All chairman of various committees, delegations and events are worthy of applause for their success.

Our secretarial staff led by Ms. Umaa Gupta, Mrs. Sanjeevani Kothare, Ms. Sapna Gupta, Mr. Naresh Sah, Mr. Ramarethinam, Mr. Aniket Shinde, Mr. Ashish, Mr. Prasad, Mr. Tapas Roy, Mr. Sunil Patel, Mrs. Amita Rawal, Ms. Priyanka, Mr. Ratnakar, Mrs. Alphonsa, have worked day in and out would like to appreciate their excellent service to my team of office bearers, our support staff lead by Mr. N.V. Raju, Mr. Pinjare, Mr. Jagtap for being ever ready to serve the cause.

In my tenure as president, I have tried to give my best, I thank one and all for their invaluable support given to me during my tenure. It was a great experience working for such a big association with multiple facets. As I always say, success cannot be spelt without 'U' & deficiencies cannot be spelt without 'I' and I solely attribute success to you all & accept any deficiencies entirely on me.
