year despite all the hurdles. We would like to thank you very much for this! Thank you for your trust and thank you for your loyalty! 2021 brought a big change at AIRCOND. AIR-COND has now been in the air conditioning trade for over 40 years. In all these years, the company has grown steadily,


TOSHI BEAR 2021 will soon come to an end and looking back we can again speak of a very special year. It was characterized by economically uncertain times, hard, light and regionally limited lockdowns, exit test obligations, restrictions in social life, hypodermic needles in the upper arm or countless cotton swabs in the throat or nose during tests. We were all the more pleased to see summer vacations on the Adriatic suddenly special again and tourism revitalizing the economy. It was particularly gratifying that our industry weathered Corona far better than we had feared in March 2020. We may close a very very good year economically and also the reunion with many of our long-time partners was a nice and important step

towards a new normal. Whether at personal meetings or in the course of our Austria Partner Meeting or at the 12th TOSHIBA Convention. There is no way that personal contact and conversations can be replaced by a video call. For all of us it was really nice to see the TOSHIBA family together again. We are convinced that our commitment to our partners and to the TOSHIBA product will have a positive impact on your sales and ours. Global problems that characterize this particular year of 2021 – such as the extremely difficult global transportation situation and the ever-worsening shortage of various materials and parts – we cannot solve, but we will try to handle in the best possible way. We will continue to invest all our energy

in finding ways and means to supply our partners, the TOSHIBA family, with air conditioners and heat pumps. Just like in a real family, it is important to stick together, especially in difficult times. The company was newly founded on paper, but all previous contracts, rights, obligations, agreements, etc. as they are currently valid, as well as the entire staff and the complete infrastructure were transferred to the new company and will continue in unchanged form or continue to be valid. Let us now successfully close the year 2021 together and start well

SALES NEWS The UNIVERSAL SMART X We proudly present the new R32 dimension of refrigeration and heating in Europe! AIR-COND was proud to present the TOSHIBA UNIVERSAL SMART X for the first time at the customer events at Castle Rabenstein. The interest of all partners was enormous, as it was a big surprise for them to be able to experience the USX live for the first time and to inspect it closely. Although the USX is now available in Europe for the first time, its success story started a long time ago. In 1997, TOSHIBA launched the predecessor of today’s USX on the Japanese market. Originally intended only for industrial use, work was continuously carried out to improve the functions and efficiency of the equipment. In 2010, the first USX with the world’s largest capacity high-efficiency inverter twin rotary compressor was launched. This compressor was

outdone by the next world’s largest capacity high-efficiency inverter in the year 2017. The current models of the USX conquered the Asian Market 2020 and arrived for the first time in Europe in October 2021. More than 40,000 installed modules in the Asian area are proof that the USX will also start its triumphal march in Europe. Due to its reliability, customers trust the USX especially when 24-7-365 operation is required. For example, USX machines are already in use at the famous Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore or at a large manufacturer of optical sensors and devices, where the secure operation of clean rooms is essential.

First ESTIA sales workshop On 1st October this year, for the first time, there was an ESTIA training in connection with a sales workshop at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Vienna. The workshop was held in cooperation with the company Technology Systems and their partner companies. The day was used to inform about the news of the new ESTIA R32 series, to present technical innovations and above all to get valuable sales and negotiation tips from the expert Mr. Althoff. Mr. Ralf Althoff has been professionally active for many years as a management consultant, interim manager and executive coach, among other things. As an experienced manager and managing director in a medium-sized business

environment, he understands and knows what it takes to successfully sell a product. In preparation for the workshop, a short survey was made to find out which topics the participants consider particularly worth discussing and which challenging situations they are confronted with. The survey showed that end customers do not ask directly about heat pumps, but are looking for a “comfortably warm home”. In the workshop, the participants learned which questioning techniques they can use to ascertain the benefits of the end customer and which chains of argumentation they can use to respond to them in order to be able to provide beneficial advice. Another highlight was the visit of Mr. Richard Freimüller, President

of the Association Heat Pump Austria, in the afternoon. The Association Heat Pump Austria is the representation of the Austrian heat pump industry with the aim of interest representation, policy advice, quality assurance, public relations and market data collection. Mr. Freimüller briefly and concisely explained the main focus of his activities and highlighted the current overall situation on the market. At the request of the participants, the subject of noise in heat pumps was dealt with in particular. The legal framework of sound insulation and its important aspects in planning and installation were intensively dealt with.


AIR-COND NEWS AIR-COND International AIR-COND Klimaanlagen-Handelsgesellschaft m.b.H. becomes AIR-COND International GmbH After 44 successful years of AIR-COND Klimaanlagen-Handelsgesellschaft m.b.H. the new company name AIR-COND INTERNATIONAL expresses the focus on the core business in the international market. The core business of AIR-COND is the trade with TOSHIBA air conditioners and heat pumps with partners in eleven countries. AIR-COND International GmbH with a share capital of 10 million Euro still owns all locations (headquarters in Graz, energy saving house 2 in Frohnleiten, branch office in Zagreb), previous contracts and conditions, bank accounts, previous rights and obligations, the warehouse in Vienna, as well as the staff. There is NO impact on existing agreements and contracts. The only changes associated with the “new company” are the new

company wording and a new VAT number (tax number). AIR-COND has also used this occasion to adjust the fiscal year to the calendar year (1.1. – 31.12.) and to move the inventory to the company vacation at Christmas (end of December / beginning of January). Therefore we are available for you in January without any restrictions. All areas that are not affected by the spin-off and remain behind will be managed by JU Beteiligungs GmbH, as the legal successor of AIR-COND Klimaanlagen-Handelsgesellschaft m.b.H. IMPORT & LOGISTICS NEWS TRANSPORT & DELIVERY – Acceptance and damage report Global freight transport has been working at its breaking point for months – and experts believe this will not change much in the first half of 2022. The upturn in the global economy is overburdening freight shipping, air freight and truck transport, and has led to a state of emergency in global transportation. Unfortunately, the current situation also means that transport damage can occur again and again. For this reason, we would like to remind you of our regulations for the acceptance of goods and the reporting of damage. Checking the delivery When taking over the goods, the buyer, the assigned forwarding agent or the collector has the duty to check the goods for correctness according to the order: ▪ number of pallets as well as condition ▪ quantity of colli ▪ correctness of the equipment (article number) ▪ packaging damage

Visible defects/damage to the packaging or device must be written down on the delivery note / handover bill or on the delivery person’s handheld device. Examples: Cardboard box is dented / packaging is damaged: Upon receipt of goods, the entry “Packaging damaged” must be written down on the delivery note or on the handheld device. Device was transported lying down: When taking over the goods, the entry “Contents damaged” must be noted on the handheld device. The entry “Device transported lying down” can be noted on the acceptance certificate. It is not sufficient to sign “with reservation”. In the case of damage NOT visible from the outside, fixed claim times must be observed in accordance with the Insurance Act:

View into the import department of AIR-COND The import department of AIRCOND follows the motto of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: „We do not think in terms of problems. We think in solutions.“ Drastic lack of resources slows economic recovery. Auto industry, metal processing, electronics – industry could recover faster. But scarce resources are preventing that. Every industry is facing rising prices and supply bottlenecks for intermediate products and services for which no bottlenecks were foreseeable before the pandemic. Pandemicrelated production interruptions, port closures, ship cancellations, container problems and truck driver shortages are triggering global shortages of many raw materials.

Hotel Kowald – Loipersdorf At the end of August this year, we went to the 4* thermal hotel KOWALD in Loipersdorf for a shooting. Already since 2011 the hotel Kowald has been equipped by the company Pammer GesmbH with air conditioners from TOSHIBA. This year, several Daiseikai indoor units were replaced by the new TOSHIBA HAORI design air

conditioners. With their textile cover, these units fit perfectly into the elegant appearance of the hotel and complete it without attracting attention. On the top floor of the hotel – as a special tourist highlight – a Rooftop Suite was built. For the exquisite feel-good climate in this suite, the

I must explain a bit further, because my old house from 1964 is equipped with radiators and had an oil and wood heating system with enormous consumption until the conversion. After some thermal renovation of the attic and the windows, I decided in 2014 to convert the heating to a HIGH POWER R410. This provided perfect service with heating costs of about 120 € per month, especially when you consider that about 65 W/m² are needed here. As we are among the TOP 3 of ESTIA systems sold thanks to our partners, we received an offer from TOSHIBA to test the ESTIA R32. With somewhat mixed feelings, we agreed and thus received the actual FIRST system (serial number: 910Z0001) in the fall of 2019. Why were you not enthusiastic from the beginning? Smaller outdoor units with only a single fan unit for 11 kW, thus also smaller heat exchanger surface, refrigerant R32 in the heat pump application were the main points that made me somewhat critical, whereas the new communication,

Important design elements of the campaign QUALITY SEAL The basic message of the campaign “Higher Quality in Life” is designed as a quality seal and is carried in all marketing measures. WAVE The connecting element across all products is air. Depicted as an air flow, it runs through the entire communication. In the heat pump segment, it is intended to reflect warm air, and in the air conditioning segment, cool air. CATEGORY COLORS The color of the category of the advertised product is expressed by the quality seal, the wave as well as the color tint of the respective subject image. SUBJECT IMAGES Instead of images of families or couples, photos were chosen that create a positive feel-good atmosphere without the involvement of people in the image right away.

NEWS FROM CROATIA Office opening in Zagreb – the door to our Southern partners On 15th September we proudly opened our new office facility in the center of Zagreb. As the opening of the office aimed, in addition to increasing the market presence, to be physically closer to our partners, it was very important to us to celebrate the opening together with our partners. Next to obviously many Croatian partners who followed our invitation, we greatly appreciated also the participation of our partners from Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia

and Montenegro. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, our partners from Macedonia and Kosovo could not attend, but they also sent their greetings and wishes for the successful opening of the new office in Zagreb. All partners expressed their satisfaction with the possibility of faster and closer contact with us and TOSHIBA. During our first working weeks, we hosted several partners who were not able to attend the opening, as well as some designers and investors.

This proved to be especially advantageous in case of investors who had the opportunity to see, feel and touch HAORI devices in our exhibition area of the office, which they favored a lot. Shortly after the opening of the office, we could directly feel the benefits of it. Also our Croatian team, after many years of home office, really likes the office. It is much more enjoyable to work live, in a team, than across the screen.

It is characterized by high efficiency, reliability and flexibility. Investors request the best balance between price and quality, features and advantages. Due to these challenges, we have to get as close as possible to the designers and enter through them to tenders. That means we have to contact investors as well. Thus, we are working on the RIMAC FACTORY project, where together with the partner and the designer we are placing the USX in the tender. It is a large project with

In recent years, TOSHIBA has launched a couple of interesting products. In the home range, it is certainly, HAORI, a new designinspired indoor unit with exceptional features, which is unique on the market. This unit has given us a step towards architects and interior designers, primarily through its chameleon design that can be adapted to any space, but it has also maintained high efficiency, good ionization filtration, and is enriched with WiFi option as standard equipment. Definitely a product we have been looking for and expecting for a long time. Furthermore, what follows next year, is the new VRF with R32 refrigerant. I think that with this development, we will make a step towards an ecological approach to business applications in heating and cooling that the competition does not have yet.

4. Which challenges is the southern market currently facing? In the southern countries, there is still some political instability present, in addition to pandemic and economic issues. This certainly affects investments, both in the business and private sectors. This is especially pronounced in non-EU countries. But we hope that this will come to an end and that we will be able to dedicate ourselves only to the discussion of products, sales channels and projects.

AIR-COND invites to big partner events Partner Meeting and 12th Convention were visited by many business partners from Austria and SouthEast Europe The AIR-COND partner events on a national and international level were highly frequented by business customers from both the Austrian and South Eastern European markets. Owner and Managing Director Jürgen Unterrainer welcomed more than 170 participants from 13 countries. A large delegation of TOSHIBA representatives traveled especially from France and Great Britain. In the unique ambience of Castle Rabenstein the latest information from TOSHIBA and AIR-COND was presented, the opening of the new TOSHIBA Lounge on 260 m² and the 10th anniversary of AIRCOND in Haushamer Straße were celebrated, and two nice evenings including award ceremonies were enjoyed.

OUT OF AIR-COND Team AIR-COND – ACTION! In mid-July 2021 it was “please smile-time” in the TOSHIBA Lounge. The AIR-COND team consists of many familiar faces, but also some new ones. To give a face to their mostly written or telephone contacts, we organized a photo shoot in the new TOSHIBA Lounge. The result of this shooting is a new AIR-COND “family photo” as well as current portrait photos. As usual, you will find all contact persons with picture and contact data on our partner portal under the item organizational structure. We are looking forward to your requests!

BOWLING After the company photo shoot, we went to the most modern bowling alley in Europe in the evening – to the Diesel cinema in Lieboch. After a delicious meal, it was off to bowling fun. On two of twelve top-modern lanes with a great light concept we bowled for fun.

Some strikes and many holes were bowled, which only fueled the general fun mood. In keeping with the motto of games, fun and sport, an eventful day came to an end.

HIKING – AIR-COND in the mountains Out of the daily routine – into the nature! Part of the AIR-COND team followed this motto and went on a hiking trip to the Druckfeichter Hütte in the mountains of Schladming. From there, the 2,134 m high Krahbergzinken was climbed in

AIR-COND fashion – together, with joy and a firm step. A partly challenging tour – but with unforgettable moments. The summit rewarded with an indescribably beautiful mountain panorama.

HUMAN RESOURCES We are hiring! Employees are among the most important resources in a company. They are a decisive factor in achieving the company’s goals and the most important company capital. AIR-COND is constantly trying to improve and therefore focuses on a sustainable personnel policy. Currently, we want to grow and continue to invest in our human capital. We are looking for motivated and interested people who are enthusiastic about TOSHIBA equipment and want to become part of the AIR-COND family.

The heat pump market is growing and our Estia is achieving good sales success in some sales areas, but we know that there is still a lot of potential here. Therefore, we are looking for a Field Sales Representative who will focus only on the marketing of our air-to-water heat pump and specifically support plumpers.

To support our technical department, we are recruiting a Technical Support Engineer who will provide the best possible support and assistance to our partners, especially in the after-sales area, and who will take on the responsible task of assisting with the commissioning of a system or, in the event of a fault, with analyzing and finding solutions.

The Product Management department also needs reinforcement. For our “Water Systems” business unit, we are looking for a product manager who will assume responsibility in the entire pre-sales area for our Chiller & Heatpump Universal Smart X and ESTIA airto-water heat pump products.
