R32 - for our environment! In the last two decades important progress has been made towards the usage of more environmentally friendly refrigerants. Our behavior and attitude concerning the environment has to change and become more responsible. Governments worldwide implement new regulations to limit emissions which cause harm to the environment. The main goal of the new F-Gas Regulation is to incrementally limit the sales volume of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs). Until 2030 the CO2 emissions should be decreased by 79 % of today’s equivalent sales volume. Why is R32 required? The Main Pillars of the new EU F-Gas Regulation are to reduce emissions and to move towards lower GWP solutions. The nowadays widespread refrigerant R410A does not meet these requirements, having a GWP of 2,088. R32 has a GWP of 675 and meets legislation criteria.
How efficient is R32? R32 has a similar working pressure to R410A which is around 12 to 26 bar, however R32 has better capability to exchange heat-load than R410A and delivers higher capacity than R410A making the systems more efficient. Is R32 a popular refrigerant? TOSHIBA has been producing R32 units for use in the Japanese market since 2014 for both Residential and Light Commercial. More than 220,000 residential units have been installed without any incidents. For Light Commercial there are approximately 5,000 impeccable installed units. Across all manufacturers there are more than 5 million R32 units installed only in Japan. Other countries such as India and China rely on R32 split residential systems as well.
Reduction of refrigerant used due to usage of R32 R32 has a lower GWP than R410A and uses 30% less refrigerant charge to produce an equal load capacity. As a result the total CO2 emission can be reduced by around 77%. Capacity code

Editorial Dear appreciated Toshiba-partner, after the last eleven months one has to ask oneself whether the air conditioning market underwent a reinvention. Ten times in a row the monthly record has been exceeded. It is not only the availability of air conditioning units, especially in the residential segment, which is an issue on the market but also the importance of professional installation. Lately, it is said that installation is often booked out months in advance. Thus, more technical personnel is needed in order to handle the massive sales growth and to assure professional installation of these. This acknowledges the sales directive of AIR-COND only to work with certified specialized partners.
Therefore, we are proud to announce that we will further push product and technical trainings. This is why we also strengthened our team with additional manpower in the divisions order handling, marketing and technical support. Training Offensive AIR-COND started a training offensive in the first quarter of 2016 From February until April 2016 almost 400 participants accepted our invitation for training and development and for information exchange. With this huge number of participants we broke all previous records and enchanted interested technicians, sales people and CEOs. It is well known that sophisticated technical equipment should only be sold and installed accompanied by profound product knowledge. However, the requirements are getting more refined plus the application possibilities increase steadily. To meet these requirements we focused on an unpronounced motto: Everyone has products, but TOSHIBA offers solutions. - "Everything is possible!" In accordance with this premise the training sessions were structured. Divided into one-day trainings Markus Pichler and Claus Wackerbauer guided the audience through the topics Advanced & Controls, VRF & special solutions, MIRAI & R32. Besides product knowledge, the participants were also challenged in playing pool during the evening program.
We want to use this opportunity to entrust you with the idea of a specialized training, provided that the group size is big enough. Talk to our sales team regarding the possibilities.
Our ESTIA-Trainings are already well-established. During these trainings Markus Pichler conveyed all knowledge regarding air-to-water heat pumps. Markus strengthened all opportunities and advantages as well as things which do not work. Finally we also “toured� with our sales product training program and in addition to our resident locations, the energy saving house and the castle Rabenstein, we stopped in Salzburg and Vienna. We were especially delighted to realize a product training exclusively for our partner Cool Terra.

MIRAI R410A & R32 The new MIRAI single inverter already established its position amongst the economic and efficient entry-level products. The MIRAI is available in identical design with two different refrigerants, the R410A and the R32, which approximately have the same characteristic values. Thus, it offers a gentle introduction into the world of the new refrigerant R32. Due to the mentioned new F-Gas Regulation, in the medium-term the branch is heading towards a change-over regarding refrigerants. By 2025 single-split A/C systems with less than 3kg refrigerant charge have to contain a refrigerant with a GWP lower than 750. This means that systems currently available with R407C and R410A are no lon-
ger permitted and manufacturers have to offer products with alternative refrigerants. From 2025 on, the import as well as sales are affected by this regulation. Our consumers will not notice any difference in the used refrigerant. However, they will feel the comfort both types of MIRAI offer: outstanding energy efficiency, smooth operation, high flexibility in installation, as well as extended comfort functions using the optional remote control.

Air Patrol AP-IR-WIFI-1
All addicts of external control options via smartphone are well served by the Air Patrol AP-IR-WIFI-1 controller. The compact interface is easily integrated into the home wlan network and enables a comfortable handling of the air conditioner via Android or iOS app.
Integrated sensors for room temperature and humidity, local weather forecast, a calendar-based timer, specific setups for different users, control of several different units and a lot more features are available.
The controller works on basis of an infrared transmitter/receiver and is therefore compatible for all indoor units, which by default are delivered with an infra-red controller.

On the other side of our product portfolio, in the high-tech VRF-segment, a lot of hardworking hands and capable teams were busy with increasing the total performance and market attractiveness of our systems. After the international success of the innovative SMMS-e system, the focus of the developers was now on inventing the smaller version, the Mini SMMS. Well-known for its versatility and reliability, the system is now expanding and is available for three-phase electrical connection in three capacities.

In order to strengthen the market presence, TOSHIBA was present on several fairs throughout Europe this spring. It is especially important to us to be present on B2B fairs as well as on consumer fairs. For example in the beginning of March Toshiba was represented at the DOM in Ljubljana via our partners Vitanest, Nix and Energo Plus. At the Mostra Convegno in Milano, one of the most important fairs for ventilation and air-conditioning systems, Toshiba Italy exhibited the product range of our ACs and heat pumps. Another checkpoint for us is the participation on the Aquatherm, which took place in Prague and Vienna. In these cases our partners Klima Classic and Technology Systems worthily represented Toshiba. Further fairs included the Mostar Fair in Bosnia, the Coneco in Bratislava and some more.

Additionally to the fairs, our partners hosted a lot of seminars and kick-off meetings. For example in Hungary our business partners Atlantisz, Thermoclima and DTN organized kick-off meetings for their customers in order to inform them about product novelties and to gear them up for the upcoming season. In the Czech Republic Klima Classic and AirMatyas also prepared kick-off meetings for their clients. We are pleased that Energija also held a great product presentation in Skopje, Macedonia. Thailand An inspiring journey to the land of smiles Thanks to the outstanding sales figures and performance of our customers, we could realize an incentive journey for our best Austrian partners. From 18th until 26th January 2016 we took an eventful trip to Thailand together with our partners. Amongst other things a visit of our two factory sites in Thailand were part of the program. In the refurbished and extensively enlarged production site, the Toshiba Carrier Thailand Corporation, near Bangkok, our partners could convince themselves of the production quality and the accurate operating principles. Each and every product is carefully assembled and tested before it leaves the factory. Another important item on the agenda was the visit of the second factory TCFG, in Leam Chabang, which produces the compressors. It is noteworthy that TOSHIBA is building the compressors, the heart of
every heat pump, itself and is not relying on third suppliers. Besides the factory visits, there was also time left for getting to know some of the tourist attractions Thailand has to offer and to relax a bit. A guided tour through the vibrant metropole of Bangkok by boat on the well-known klongs could not be missed out. After visiting Bangkok the journey was continued to the holiday domicile Phuket. Via speed boat the renowned Phi Phi Island, Koh Kai, etc. were explored. The culmination of the trip was a gala dinner where we awarded our best partners for their achievements. It was an unforgettable trip! Many thanks to our partners for the good cooperation, your commitment in selling Toshiba-products and your long-lasting loyalty, which together enable such an incredible journey.

Toshi-Bear is thinking about... Exactly one year ago the mood in my environment, in the meeting rooms of AIR-COND and in some meeting rooms of our clients as well, was everything else than fantastic. Bad weather and low demand from the market caused bad sales figures in the first half of 2015. However, within a couple of weeks this situation changed completely. Temperatures were rising, nights got hotter and humid and market demand was as strong as never seen before. Our partners benefitted from our excellent service and our prompt availability thanks to our big warehouse capacities. This boom continued uninterrupted throughout the winter months. Not only AIR-COND but also our partners benefitted from this trend and increased sales volume severely. Therefore, also the buying quota went up to the same extent, which lead to the fact that the factories were not able any longer to satisfy all orders and it came to shortages in some product ranges. Weekly containers full of goods reach our warehouse, which are immediately distributed to the markets. Nevertheless, longer lead times are the consequence. We are all grateful and happy about the increasing demand and it is our job to satisfy our long-lasting partners with our service. However, it is impossible to predict such a growth in sales volume. The whole market is confronted with longer delivery times. Please be assured that we do our best to satisfy all your requests. Still, as your Toshi-Bear, I ask you to be patient and understanding. Our team performs at maximum output (sometimes even during nights) to order goods, find faster delivery routes with factories and handles orders as quickly as possible in order to deliver TOSHIBA products to our successful partners.

Mallorca, mar, sol, playa, tapas,... In our AIR-COND office people should laugh, good mood, positive cooperation and teamwork is appreciated and a friendly working atmosphere counts for much. To further reinforce the team spirit and cohesion, the AIR-COND team went to Palma de Mallorca together. On 3rd of June at 4.30am we started into a memorable weekend trip. After the arrival at the hotel, we directly went to the beach, where welcome drinks and snacks were waiting for us at the beach bar. In the afternoon the next item on the agenda was a sightseeing tour through the historic district of Pal-
ma de Mallorca, as also culture should not be missed out this weekend. Afterwards we enjoyed the lovely evening in the marina of Palma, drinking champagne and having dinner in a Spanish tapas bar. As Palma is also wellknown for its night life, we were dancing through the night on Palma’s party mile.
In the evening we had dinner in the restaurant Il Paradiso, where we felt like in paradise. We enjoyed a heavenly view over the bay of Cala Mayor at sunset, delicious food and let the evening fade away. We will long remember the “night from Friday till Monday” and are already looking forward to the next trip.
Next morning a real highlight was expecting us. We booked a catamaran for a day trip. The catamaran anchored in an impressive, turquoise blue swimming bay, where the crew becharmed us with delicacies.
A big thank you goes to Mr. Unterrainer, who eventually enabled such a trip.
