Honour to whom honour is due

I

t has been a while since Mr. Werner Hochegger, founder of AIR-COND Klimaanlagen-Handelsgesellschaft mbH, studied civil engineering at the University of Technology in Graz and graduated with a diploma in 1965. Nevertheless the connection to the TU Graz has always remained upright and Mr. Hochegger supports the Institute of Thermal Engineering since 2011.

2015 WAITING IN THE WINGS

I

t is the time, when everything gets a little bit quieter. But nevertheless we have already started with our preparations for year 2015 as there are waiting lots of new products, which have been partly already launched and presented in our newsletters. And of course we expect the big launch of the new VRF system from TOSHIBA – the highlight 2015.

In recognition of his outstanding service to the Technical University of Graz, in particular, to promote research in the field of heat pump technology Mr. Hochegger was awarded the Academic title of a “Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Graz” in November 2014. The award ceremony and laudation was done by the vice chancellor Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. techn. Dr.h.c. Harald Kainz in a very solemn and touching atmosphere.

We congratulate Mr. Hochegger on this magnificent award!

What I can say now is, that it’s going to be called SMMSe – but what there is in fact behind this “e” will be a surprise!

Werner Hochegger, Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Graz

You can look forward also to our KICK OFF and CONVENTION events, which will take place already in February in order to start in time into the new season. Can you feel it? We are full of energy and look forward to a “hot year 2015” together with you!

MEET RABENSTEIN

F A great honour for Mr. Unterrainer to welcome Mr. Ozaka, Mr. Inoue and Mr. Hendrickx on Castle Rabenstein!

Editorial

or the first time, the Independent Toshiba Distributor Meeting was held in Austria at Castle Rabenstein. As expected it was the perfect framework for this international event where Toshiba representatives from Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Switzerland, Malta and Austria came together to exchange experiences and ideas. From side of Toshiba the meeting was also attended by Mr. Akira Inoue, Advisor to the Board TCC, Mr. Akio Ozaka, Managing Director TCTC and JeanFrancois Hendrickx, Sales & Marketing Director EMEA. By the way - a detailed interview with this high-profile delegation from Toshiba you can read in the December issue of the HVAC Austria!

But before I would like to take the opportunity to thank you in the name of the whole Air-Cond team for the excellent cooperation, we wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a good start into New Year! Yours Jürgen Unterrainer

THE NEWSLETTER

T

he “electronic newsletter” enjoys great popularity in our latitudes and is often used by companies to share information for free. For this, the target groups are meticulously sorted, the contents formulated in a crisp and tailored way to the addressee in order to send it then “best time”, which is the result of scientific calculations. Experts advice not only the most promising intervals and lengths, also headline, picture, and the right level of creativity in full detail has been empirically researched and documented. Despite all the advice the receiver seems to remain stubbornly, wants to expose “tricks” and resists with the utmost energy expenditure the “deception newsletter” in any case. Also, if the newsletter was sent from an important, permanent business partner or supplier. Also, if this business partner limits its newsletters to really “informative short messages” and does not produce unnecessary e-waste. Even if it can occur that the one or the other price offer does not arrive. You see, it’s not easy to be a newsletter.

If you have ideas to make our newsletter more attractive for YOU, then please share your ideas with us. By letter, by email, by phone and in person or even by an email newsletter 

We can thus provide even faster different data for our products, invest more energy into product-oriented bulletins and information packages and create important benchmarks and presentation documents for you. Claus is already highly motivated reflecting about his new position: “Outstanding technical products need an appropriate care in order to be sold and used optimally. My efforts will concentrate to make this wide field more transparent and non-bureaucratic and to improve it in a noticeable way.”

LOVE IS IN THE AIR During summer 2014 there were not only sold lots of air conditioning units at Air-Cond, it was also a summer where two couples got married.

O

ur Technical Supervisor, Christian Rumpl, had a romantic wedding ceremony saying “Yes” to his wife Christina in the Oswaldi church on 23rd August. The date is very very special - it is also the birthday of son Leo, who celebrated his first birthday.

20 years should be enough to be sure about spending a life time together. This encouraged Reinhold to ask his Sonja to marry him and finally she said “Yes”. The civil ceremony took place in the romantic “Reverie”, one week later on the 13th September they celebrated their church weeding in Stainz and Misses “Keusch” became Mrs. “Orthaber”.

hat’s the way it is. While Mrs. Silvia Schober is really looking forward to the birth of her first baby and soon leaving for maternity protection, Ms. Margrit Fuchs returns after four years of maternity leave with two girlies. This “seamless” transition was not planned, but it fits perfectly and brings along an unrestricted service in the order handling for you, dear customer! We wish Mrs. Schober all the best and look forward to first baby photos. At the same time we welcome Ms. Fuchs again back at AIR-COND!

DATES 2015 ➜➜ CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS 24th Dec. 2014 – 2nd Jan. 2015 ➜➜ INVENTORY 28th – 30th January 2015 Tremendous interest during the VRF special training, in the evening bowling was the challenge.

bout 150 participants have again used the opportunity to learn more about product innovations and technical subtleties of the efficient heat pump technology in two weeks of training. The pleasant atmosphere of energy saving house 2 and Castle Rabenstein was a perfect place for training, discussing and working. The division into four groups – Starter, VRF Special, Controls and ESTIA - allowed the participants to educate themselves according to individual needs and knowledge. The contents and way of organizing the training mode were created differently, in a very personal and entertaining way by our Technical Manager Markus Pichler with the assistance of the lately assigned Product Manager Claus Wackerbauer. The focus was clearly on workshops and processing.

HUGE INTEREST The number of participants in all training days was impressive - on both VRF Special days the energy saving house 2 could even not withstand the crowd so that the training (much to the amusement of all attendees) had to be transferred to the Castle Rabenstein! In addition to the didactic contents there was plenty of opportunity to interact with refrigeration / air condi-

tioning technically minded people and Air-Cond crew on technical issues, market situations and to philosophize about life at all. We also benefit from all the input from such conversations - after all, we want to improve our standard of performance in order to respond even more strongly to the needs of our partners!

THE BOWLING BALL ROLLS During the evening bowling after the two VRF Special days the participants demonstrated that they cannot only deal with copper and silver with a steady hand and a sure eye: Markus Stadtmüller and Lush Ballabani drove back home as winners, each with a service case and bowling ball signed by all participants.

CONCLUSION At the end of the day, speakers and participants agreed: a successful event is behind us, which has proven once again that technology, knowledge, communication and entertainment are closely lying together.
