Lighting production at the Lahti factory in Finland

The new factory in Lahti will strengthen Airam's capacity in the production of lighting fixtures for offices and public spaces. The production facility increases the company's product portfolio and capacity for customization services and ensures that the lighting company's services will continue to be found nearby.

In September 2021, Airam Electric Oy Ab bought the factory of Sähkö-Lahti Oy, as well as its fixed assets and inventory. The new factory strengthens Airam's competitiveness, flexibility and production capacity, especially in the field of professional lighting and customized lighting solutions.

New Airam lighting products

Production at the Lahti lighting factory started in the spring of 2022. The new production facility is specialized in sheet metal luminaires for the needs of offices, public spaces and industry. Airam’s own factory enables the expansion of the product portfolio, especially in the field of public lighting. Aluminium-framed luminaires, downlights, profiles and ramp luminaires for offices and public spaces are manufactured in Lahti.

Airam products and tools into the DIALux software makes a lighting designer’s work easier

Airam has signed a Dialux Gold Membership agreement with DIAL. Lighting designers can now find Airam’s professional luminaires directly from the DIALux software. This makes designers’ work easier as we can now offer more comprehensive tools for lighting calculations and a new product search to make choosing the optimal solution quicker.

DIALux is undoubtedly the market’s leading lighting design application. Now the software also contains comprehensive information on Airam luminaires, available for use at any time.

In addition to English, the software supports a wide variety of languages, including Finnish and Swedish.

DIALux offers calculation files complete with product information

The primary benefit of the collaboration with DIALux is that Airam luminaires are now easier to find for lighting projects. This major improvement covers Airam’s entire PRO range consisted of luminaires with an integrated LED modules for every use case in professional lighting.

Henry Huittinen, a lighting specialist on Airam’s project sales team, explains the benefits of the collaboration for designers: "Searching and selecting luminaires is easy via the DIALux software’s product search function. Products can be found directly from the hierarchy or by searching with specific criteria such as lumen output, luminaire size or mounting method."

Huittinen adds: "Comprehensive product information can be included in the lighting calculation reports, making the lighting designer's work easier. Choosing the correct luminaire and comparing alternatives is easy, and light distribution files for all of the luminaires required for the project can be selected and downloaded at the same time."

The collaboration also brings benefits to Airam’s website

As a result of the collaboration with DIALux, Airam’s website also offers new light distribution files and better tools for lighting professionals. In addition to luminaire dimensions and technical data, the new ULD light distribution files contain an image of the luminaire, an introductory text, a possible 3D model and other important information.

A product-specific quick calculation tool will be added to Airam’s website later to enable lighting calculation of individual spaces directly on the website.

Tervakoski sports hall

At Tervakoski’s Delfort Areena , Granlund Häme performed the DIALux measurements in the sports hall, the gym and the gymnastics room for different levels of lighting power. It is now easy to adjust the Sport luminaires mounted on the centre’s ceiling from dim to full lighting efficacy via the two lighting level settings pre-programmed with Casambi.

Posti logistics center

At the entrance gate of Postal mail service's Logistics Center, a camera reads a vehicle’s registration plate and the system guides the vehicle to the correct platform with the help of digital identifiers. Lighting measurements conducted by Airam indicated that lighting levels higher than the standard were required for the identification of the plates. On the basis of DIALux calculations, Flood floodlights in three power classes were selected for the areas outside the logistics centre.

Hämeenlinna Main Library

In the renovation of Hämeenlinna Main Library, DIALux calculations were carried out to determine the amount of light required in the space to ensure sufficient illumination levels and compliance with standards. "Luminaires were positioned so that the lighting level was 500 lux on the top shelf, with the minimum requirement being 200 lux on the bottom shelf, as measured from the spine of a book," says Aki Rintala from Granlund, explaining the specific challenges posed by a library setting.

Kalevala jewellery

At the Kalevala jewellery company’s production spaces, the required lighting levels were determined by Kalle Houtbeckers from Airam using DIALux calculations. Covering various production premises, storage spaces and office and workplace welfare facilities, the project was challenging. It was particularly important to achieve a colour temperature similar to daylight for the production spaces to ensure that the jewellery could be viewed in conditions corresponding to those in which customers would later see them.

Lumino

Lumino is a low-profile, high-quality and long-lasting universal luminaire for residential buildings and public places. The appearance of the luminaire is finished and the light it gives is uniform and high-quality. Thanks to its low structure, the luminaire fits elegantly and discreetly into various spaces and interiors. The lamp is suitable for indoor and outdoor wall and ceiling installations in stairwells and public spaces. Thanks to the IP44 class, you can also install the luminaire in the bathroom and other wet areas. The luminaire has two colour temperatures. You can choose from two size options and there are sensor versions for both.

Compact Tilt

Compact Tilt is a high-quality adjustable downlight for general lighting in residential buildings and public spaces. This adjustable unit is suitable both for general lighting and for highlighting details. It is dimmable, which offers additional options for atmospheric lighting in the space. Typical applications include hotels, restaurants, lobbies and wet spaces. With three housing-colour options and two colour temperatures, you can select the models that best suit your needs. Compact Tilt Dim models can be mounted directly in the insulation material. The 5 W models can be installed in a ceiling space of 22 mm.

Compact Mini

The Compact Mini Kit with six luminaires is a ready-toinstall set of small downlights. You can create aesthetic accent lighting with the slender luminaire’s light beams, and adjust the atmosphere in the room through dimming. The luminaire has an excellent colour rendering and is available in three different colour temperatures. The small Compact Mini luminaire is suitable for recessed mounting in ceilings, window niches, cabinets and walls in any room at home, and with IP44 protection rating it can also be used in wet spaces. Along with the luminaires, the LED downlight set includes the power source and installation cables. Individual luminaires are available as accessories and can be used to expand the arrangement to include eight luminaires. The minimum number of luminaires in an installation is four. The quick connectors are spaced one meter apart from each other, and the first one is 2,5 m from the power source. The colour of the luminaire can be changed to black with a separate decorative bezel, that is available as an accessory.

Cio Multi

Cio Multi is a low-profile, lightweight panel luminaire with a changeable colour temperature, suitable for both surface and semi-recessed mounting. The colour temperature is selected from the three options available prior to installation. Cio Multi is suitable for dry spaces in residential buildings and public spaces, and it is an excellent solution for renovation projects. The luminaire also features a handy adjustable spring clip, which makes it suitable for installation into mounting hole with a diameter ranging from 55 mm to 250 mm, depending on the size of the product. The PIR model included in the range is particularly suitable for hallways and porches. The luminaires are dimmable (excluding the PIR model). Available in three housing sizes.

Decorative ring

A decorative ring is available as an accessory for the Cio Multi range. It offers an easy and quick way to change the colour of the luminaire. The ring is available in black or chrome colour for all basic models (excluding the PIR model). The decorative ring is attached to the surface of an installed light. With the frame’s magnet, you can attach the decorative ring quickly, seamlessly, and firmly in place.

Futura Abs

A LED luminaire designed for agricultural buildings, cattle shelters, industrial facilities, warehouses and parking facilities.

The ABS housing and acrylic diffuser are resistant to ammoniac fumes, lye and alkaline compounds. Meets the requirements for low ambient temperatures, D classification. Futura RST is a reliable industrial luminaire for challenging applications where extra durability is required from the lighting solution. Its applications include warehouses, industrial facilities, shelters, agricultural production premises and other spaces without explosion hazards.
