Free Hot Soup (FHS) goal is simple: to provide food to those who needs it within the Kansas City metro area. For some, we exist as an alternative welcoming food resource to those who choose not to be affiliated with other existing resources for a variety of personal reasons. These are the suggested guidelines to make it easier for new participants to engage with our community. Generally, a lead [cook/server] will prepare 3+ gallons of soup depending upon available resources and supplies. The soup is stored in a large cooler and transported to a local park to be served in disposable cups. Serving time typically starts at 2:00pm and served until we are out of food. We serve in buddy system and it is ideal to have more than 2-3 people to help with serving, manage crowd control and cleanliness of the surroundings to avoid conflict with local authority. Leftover soup may be transported over to any shelter such as the Rescue Mission, local church that works with unhoused community, or other known encampments. As a courtesy to keep this space convenient and organized, please keep posts relevant to Free Hot Soup activities and avoid discussing politics, religions, or other strongly sensitive topics that may have contingency for tensions. Please be mindful of this space and respect each other as we serve a common purpose. Manipulative, negative and/or aggressive behavior, including hate speech, will not tolerated. Physical or verbal aggression projected towards anyone here and the larger population we serve will not be tolerated by this community. Hate speech targeting a person for their race, gender, sexual orientation, religious preferences, ethnicity, nationality, among others will not be tolerated by this community. Please respect each other while engaging in this community forum. Thank you all for keeping up a good fight against food insecurity. FOR MANY INDIVIDUALS, IT'S JUST THE BEGINNING OF ANOTHER DAY OF STRUGGLE. For the recently disabled or unemployed, it is a new way of life as they learn how to navigate a system they never thought they would need. Their limited income is immediately consumed with the basic needs of survival for themselves and their families‌shelter, utilities and food. Many of the Center's clients are the "working poor" who live so close to the edge of poverty that a minor obstacle such as a car breakdown can lead to a downward financial spiral that's impossible to reverse. They are trapped in a cycle of dead-end jobs without benefits or opportunities for advancement, and every day is a struggle to simply survive. Without assistance, they will be facing eviction, utility shut-offs and worsening medical conditions. They will fall behind with little hope of catching up. We cannot achieve our goals alone. Find out how you can help.

About two years in, my mom told me that I was different. I wasn't as lighthearted as I used to be, things would irritate me faster, and I wanted conversations short and to the point; Especially after work... I didn't see it until I finally felt it. I had changed. As a police officer everyone else's worst days and nightmares, are our 9-5. We are told how much we are hated, racist, and I personally have been told how many different ways someone wanted to see me die. I have had children run to me for safety, and had a battered woman who escaped from her house while her abusive husband was sleeping. She was finally be able to breathe once she was in my patrol car and utter the words, "I am finally safe." We chase, fight, and arrest the bad people that threaten, harm, and steal from those we are sworn to protect. We are human. Our backs hurt and we have scars that many may never see. We remember those we were unable to help. We run calls that went bad over and over again in our minds and are unable to sleep. We remember our failures. Sometimes we can't see how we are making a difference, but we all have that handful of calls that remind us why we started this journey in the first place. We endure and wake up to put on our armour and badges for another day of facing the unknown. As officers, let’s check on our brothers and sisters in blue to make sure they are doing ok. If you have an officer in your family, be there for them and help remind them to leave work at work. #keepinitreal #thinblueline #officersaremorethanjustabadge #letstakecareofeachother #whatofficerswishthepublicknewaboutthejob

WHEELS OF THUNDER #988 Kansas City, Missouri http://cmascr4.org/MO/WHEELSOFTHUNDER/default.aspx The basic purpose of a CMA Chapter is to support the National CMA effort of “sharing and showing the love of Jesus Christ to motorcyclists,” and supporting this ministry through regular financial support to National. In this, there is a three-fold purpose: 1. Provide and encourage members to be active in testimony and Christian witnessing to all motorcyclists. 2. Provide a Christian fellowship ride group. 3. Provide an evangelistic association for motorcycling. As a member of this ministry each member will agree to live and act under biblical principles of conduct. These principles should be effective in your daily life, but must be followed whenever a member is wearing the CMA back patch. Many scriptures can be presented to support a godly lifestyle, but use the following scripture passages as an overview: Titus 3:111; Gal. 5:13; Matt. 18:15-19; 1 Cor. 6; James 4:1-10. Each chapter works under the leadership of their State Coordinator and Area Reps to further the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Christian Motorcyclists Association Vision: Changing the world, one heart at a time. We will accomplish our vision through:
COAST TO COAST BUSINESS NETWORK #ONLYINKC
Evangelism outreach primarily, but not exclusively, to the motorcycling community.
Run for the Son, where we will partner with ministries with world-reaching potential.
Equipping our members in ministry training that aligns itself with Biblical truths.
A servant's attitude to the world and to our members (i.e., Here if you need us).
Quality products that aid in evangelistic outreach.
An effective WorkCenter support team.
Mission: To inspire our leaders and members to be the most organized, advanced, equipped, financially stable organization, full of integrity in the motorcycling industry and the kingdom of God.

Communiversity Fast Facts Background: Communiversity is a 501(c)3 organization at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). It was founded in the fall of 1970 and remains, to date, the largest all-volunteer adult education program in the country. Enlisting the help of an advisory board made up of our constituents (UMKC students, conveners, community leaders, UMKC faculty and staff), Communiversity maintains its history of true collaboration and community action-oriented goals. Currently, its staff of one full-time employee, one part-time employee and work study positions manages all daily operations, including the yearly wholistic health fair. The mission of this lifelong learning center is to provide the Kansas City Metro area with an open forum in which to learn, teach, and discuss a wide array of topics.
Services: Communiversity provides the following services and programs: 1) A continuous schedule of classes and seminars provided at no charge to UMKC students, and at a nominal fee for everyone else. Class topics include such topics as Much Ado About Shakespeare, Bead Looming 101, Belly Dance, Estate Planning, English Language Composition, Basic Bicycle Maintenance, Real Estate Spanish, Gemstone Identification, Kundalini Yoga, How to Meet Your Mate in 90 Days or Less, Labyrinth Exploration, UFO’s in the 21st Century, and Tae Kwon Do, among others. Over 900 classes are offered each year;. 2) A “Wholistic Health Fair” offered yearly, to promote awareness and education in the field of health and preventative services; 3) An on-going series of featured courses entitled “Outside the Box,” in which panelists hold discussions and debates regarding important current issues and their social ramifications; 4) Communiversity brings in local celebrities such as Bryan Busby and Erin Little of KMBC Channel Nine and Lewis Diuguid, Aaron Barnhart and Bill Tammeus of the Kansas City Star to offer short classes on a variety of subjects.
Achievements: A 35 year tradition of providing community education and awareness about issues ranging from crocheting to political activism, Communiversity has a distribution of approximately 140,000 catalogs per year, at over 500 locations in the Kansas City area, generating roughly 8,500 registrations per year. Because of our wide distribution and usage, there are many success stories that have emerged from class offerings. Here are a few: Kansas City’s Community Radio Station got its start as a Communiversity class. It was offered as a way for people to find out about the possibilities inherent in community radio. People signed up and volunteered in hopes to start a community radio station. After 10 years of hard work and continuing to offer the class KKFI was a reality. City in Motion is a not for profit dance school that offers scholarships to needy children. At one point the organization was dangerously close to closing. They began offering beginning classes through Communiversity which helped market their offerings to a larger community. City in Motion is now in it’s 20th year of operation.
COAST TO COAST BUSINESS NETWORK #ONLYINKC Partnerships: Communiversity has partnered with area public libraries, community centers, and various conveners to provide a unique forum for teaching and learning. Communiversity gratefully acknowledges the time and effort provided by over 450 conveners per year in carrying out this organization’s mission for diversity and inclusion in the collaborative process that is education. Funding & Budget: Communiversity is a self-supporting organization and raises 90% of its own annual budget, receiving in-kind assistance from its affiliate, UMKC with office space and class rooms. Our expenses are approximately $95,000 per year which includes salaries, phones, and printing of the catalogs. Our income is derived from registrations, ads, the Wholistic Health Fair and corporate donations. The Near Future: We continue to make access to our program as easy as possible. We hope to have registration on-line by this fall. Our widespread distribution, popular classes, and easy and free access have made Communiversity a unique addition to the Kansas City landscape. With help, together we can make Communiversity a household name.
