A new decade, A newairspace. Welcome to World ATM Congress 2020! We are delighted you have joined us in Madrid for three days of hands-on learning with renowned experts, thought-provoking discussions with fellow air traffic management (ATM) professionals, and first-rate networking with aviation leaders from across the globe. Since the last time we gathered, there have been new challenges and opportunities in our evolving airspace. As a new decade dawns, we look forward to developing and implementing new ideas and technologies into the global airspace and envisioning those that have not yet been imagined. World ATM Congress is the place where audacious ideas become reality. Welcome

Every March, World ATM Congress becomes the hub of ATM. The world’s leading product developers, experts, stakeholders, and air navigation service providers (ANSPs) join together at the best-attended ATM event in the world. The Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) and the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) have partnered yet again to bring you this international event, one that opens doors for cross-border conversations about the current ecosystem—both technological and geopolitical. With so many players operating in or entering the airspace, it is a time to spark discussions and create partnerships that facilitate change and enhance safety. Each of us has an essential role to play. As our airspace evolves, we too are experimenting with new ideas that will help you advance your organisation and career. Conference programming is free to all attendees this year. World ATM Congress 2020 features five Education Theatres with over 130 sessions across all three days of the show. The theatres will showcase the latest breakthroughs, products, services, and research through presentations, demonstrations, panels, and roundtable discussions. Pressing topics covered will include unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) traffic management (UTM), surveillance, cybersecurity, telecommunications technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning, workforce issues, and the newest airspace entrants, commercial space and urban air mobility (UAM). Look through the theatre schedules starting on page 16 to help you plan each day of your personalised professional development. We have sorted both by theatre and by day to help you plan your time on-site.

The Awards will showcase the brightest ideas for the future, recognise conservation efforts and positive contributions to the environment, celebrate cooperation between partners and stakeholders, and promote overall excellence across many sectors of the aviation industry.

255 exhibitors will be showcasing how they are solving today’s most pressing ATM challenges. Over a dozen ANSPs are among our exhibitors this year (over 80 in attendance!), yet another record World ATM Congress has broken in 2020. No doubt you’ll notice these changes to the floorplan as you navigate the Hall, but you can also chart your journey on page 34 or in the daily World ATM Now newspaper. We expect over 9,500 attendees from 135+ countries and territories will be here this week sharing their knowledge and diverse experiences. Network with fellow ATM professionals as you walk the Exhibition Hall and discover your common interests. You never know who you will meet and how they might change the trajectory of your career. A special thank you to our exhibitors, sponsors, and presenters. The time and passion you put into advancing ATM is invaluable. We are proud to provide a venue where your accomplishments and innovations can be shared. We wish you a successful World ATM Congress! Welcome to the ATMosphere for business!

Meet the organiser

World ATM Congress is a Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) partnership with the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA). ATCA is an international membership association of over 3,500 professionals representing all aspects of ATC/ATM—from Fortune 100 corporations to government agencies, educational institutions and NGOs, air traffic controllers and aircraft manufacturers, ANSPs, and members of the military, among many others. Our goal is to advance the safety, security, innovation, and efficiency of the global airspace by promoting the science behind air traffic management.

Meet the Organisers: ATCA & CANSO

SINCE 1956

Thoughtful and targeted programming and robust networking opportunities are just two reasons to become more involved. Let us introduce you to the other sides of ATCA.

Those in the aviation community — ATC providers, systems architects, manufacturers, suppliers, system operators, and new entrants and non-traditional users — turn to ATCA to share their collective experience, knowledge, regulatory and policy insights, and R&D/V&V in pursuit of lessons learned and best practices to achieve our common goals.

AT THE FOREFRONT OF GLOBAL AIRSPACE

The aviation industry is in the midst of a paradigm shift. BLUE Technology is no longer a SKIES INITIATIVE barrier. We need to change how we look at the transformation of operations, all the while leveraging existing technologies to maintain safety. ATCA brings stakeholders together into a community of experts to define our future airspace before it’s decided for us.

Learn more and become a member today at atca.org.

12

Meet the Organisers: ATCA & CANSO

Won’t you join us? “ATCA provides a platform for individuals from

all sectors of aviation to discuss and influence the future of our industry. Through collaboration, connection, and engagement, we help our members keep pace with the rapidly changing airspace.” – Peter F. Dumont, ATCA President and CEO

We bring people together We are a global family with members in 30 countries. We promote diversity and inclusion, with committees and events dedicated to the advancement of women and young people. We collaborate on FAA councils like the NAC and DAC Subcommittee, and partner with some of the most important organisations in the aviation world, including NASA, DoD, CANSO, NATCA, AUVSI, Airlines for America, and AAAE, to enhance the safety and efficiency of the world’s airways.

Our premier ATC/ATM events, including ATCA Annual in Washington, D.C., and World ATM Congress, draw 15,000 professionals each year, from all sectors of aviation.

We recognise greatness ATCA partners with our corporate members to offer internships and has awarded over $1 million in scholarships to deserving ATC and aviation students worldwide. And our awards, like the Glen A. Gilbert Memorial Award, presented every year at ATCA Annual, are some of the most distinguished in our field. Explore all the ways you can get involved with ATCA. Join ATCA a committee, submit an article STAND to be published in one of our 201 award-winning publications, nominate a colleague for an award, and meet Pete and the rest of the staff at stand 201 or around the Exhibition Hall floor. Welcome to World ATM Congress!

World ATM Congress, 10–12 March 2020

ATM NONSTOP We’ll help you keep pace. We believe that safety and policy need to keep up with the fast pace of technology and the rapid influx of new entrants and business models in the NAS. That’s why over 3,500 leaders at every step of their careers turn to ATCA events, publications, and thought leadership in support of a modern, integrated global airspace. The airspace is changing and so are we. Won’t you join us?

Harmonisation and modernisation require optimal IT control The modernization of ATC systems, in particular in combination with all harmonization programs, rises the degree of complex IT installations. ■

Only the use of the respective systems can expand the airspace capacities, which are necessary to manage the growing number of flight movements.

Where once analogue techniques were deployed, now data centres are used to provide us with all necessary information.

Reliability for mission-critical operations Quality in all aspects Performance for all needs

Therefore, an optimal system control is indispensable. Because installations have to be operated, administrated and properly protected in times of cyber security – and they should also provide reliable redundancies. Talk to the KVM ATC expert from G&D about your best possible IT infrastructure.
