Croak.it

This website (www.croak.it) and iPad app allow students to record their voices for up to 30 seconds. The recording is then automatically hosted on the website and given a unique URL to share.

DoodleBuddy

This app is a virtual markerboard that can be used for drawing, labeling, annotating, etc. Images can be imported and then annotated. The results can then be exported to the Photo Roll in addition to other options.

Dropbox

This app and website (www.dropbox.com) is the easiest way for teachers to store files in the cloud then share links to those files for student use on computers and mobile devices.

Haiku Deck

This no­nonsense presentation builder allows students to build beautiful presentations with a variety of simplistic layouts, built­in image searching, the ability to add presentation notes, and more! The presentation can then be published to the website where it can then be linked to or embedded in other websites. This is available as an iPad app or via the web.

Infuse Learning

This website (http://www.infuselearning.com/) allows teachers to poll & quiz their students to get instant feedback and data.

This works on all devices and platforms.

Kidblog

This website (www.kidblog.org) and app is a safe, walled­garden blogging platform that allows students to publish blogs safely, complete with features to add media, embed web 2.0 widgets, etc.

Padlet

This website (www.padlet.com) allows teachers to create group bulletin boards where students can post notes­ in either stickie­note format or a linear, vertical stream. Walls can be customized and password protected!

PixnTell

This app allows students to import images into a linear stream, then create a voiceover that tells about the images.

The result is saved as a video in the Photo Roll. The free version is limited to five images.

Popplet Lite

Popplet lets users create mind maps, collages, galleries, and more with text, images, drawings, etc. The result can be exported as a .jpg to the Photo Roll.

QR Stuff

This awesome website (www.qrstuff.com) will create QR codes that trigger a wide variety of actions on mobile devices.

This is the go­to site for creating simple QR codes!

ScreenChomp

This whiteboard recording app lets students import images or start with a blank canvas on which they can draw with multiple markers while recording a voice narration. The result can be shared instantly by uploading to the website and viewing in a browser. Each recording is assigned a unique URL.

Sock Puppets

This storytelling app allows students to set the stage for their own digital puppet show by selecting from multiple backgrounds, props, and puppets. Then students can record their own voices. The puppets automatically move their mouths to match the students’ speech. The resulting video can be exported to the Photo Roll in the paid version only.

Voki

This Flash­based website allows students to create a talking, animated avatar that will speak whatever text is entered or audio is recorded. The avatars are highly customizable and can be embedded in websites where HTML code is accepted.

Because this is Flash­based, it will not work on iPads. For a similar app for the iPad, consider using Tellagami.

*BONUS*

There are two versions of this app­ the free student version and the paid teacher version. Both are required. Using this app, students can wirelessly send their created products (images, videos, some audio) from the Photo Roll directly to the teacher’s iPad. This is accomplished through a unique PIN code, no accounts required!
