SITE ANALYSIS AND CONTEXT This design is located in The Lhasa old town Tibet. Tibetan Buddhism here plays a very important role in people's life. My site is near Jokhang Temple which is the Holy land of Tibet people. Around the Jokhang Temple is the old town, the buildings and roads here are small-scale, more friendly to walking than driving. In front of the site is one road called The Tibtan Conversion Path, for Tibet people to walk and knee for their religion sanctum. Another important factor in the site is there lacated the biggest Mosque in Lhasa, this block is the muslim accumulation zone. So this site is full of different cultural context. Even througn in this complecated background, there are something can be abstract in common. All religion emphasize to keep pure before enter into a real Sanctum, so bath is necessety for both two kinds of people.

THE TRADITIONAL TIBETAN TYPOLOGY

Tibet buildings have many different size rectangular space as auxiliary part attaching the big palace. Main entrance can been put across these spaces, but the other side is also permitted. The yard shape is like the word“ 回 ”. First floor usually high and upstairs short.Their exterior wall is Wedge-shaped and very thick 1-1.5 meters. Construction material is stone and wood, they use stone to build exterior wall, pillars and other part is wood. Tranditional main beam wood is 2-2.2 meters long, because this kind of wood can be transport by animals walk on the moutains.

THE TRADITIONAL MOSQUE TYPOLOGY

Mosque buildings always have a big rectangular square in front of the big palace and in the middle of square is a fountain. Their arcade is an important element. Muslim has a Tower to call people to do religious service, this Tower is very high and at the Corner of the mosque. There are demos in the end of the walking line to emphasize the most important part in the whole space although there isn't a real idol in the mosque. Curve is disdinguish in muslim buildings ,they use arcs and columns to create an horizontal order as an guidance to the demo.

+1 FLOOR

Plan is based on the prototype analysis of traditional Tibet architecture and Mosque. The bath is mix of the two examplerary type plan. It use stone wall as main mateial just like old Tibeten buildings. This design uses two yards and two corrides to shape two different spaces type correspound with context of the site, mosque and the road. Tibet and mosque are both use column as unit, but tibet buildings are short and thick because of stone walls, while mosque use arch as important factor. So I use two different way ,one is emphasizing column the other one is pure curve wall.

INTRODUCTION Large stadiums always been abandoned after sporting event were finished. These huge architectures become big garbages, waste money and resources. If stadium can be design as recycle use will be economic saving. So we make this stadium variable to meet different people's need. They will share it in different time and to keep the stadium be useing all the time. A smaller structure was putted in front of main stadium as an intro of main architecture, which can change the width to attract people. This was follow a square based on the hight differences. Steel structure combine with concrete structure and building boards, keep stadium big enough.

Bali island develop tourism as major income since1970, the percentage grow higher and higher, but we can see from this from that basic education in Bali island is big lower than the world average data. So, I want to design a kindergarten to help children there to enjoy education and have a environment when they are study, also can feel their own cultures in this building.

ECONOMIC AND TOURISM DATA ANALYSIS

Tourism as percentage of GDP was 33.4% at 1970 in Bali island and grow to 62.35% at 2000, and bombed at 2002.Tourists number was 200 million at 2008 growed to 400 million at 2015. All these data can show that tourism is become more important. Beautiful sceneries attract lots people to spend vacation, in oder to welcome these tourists, local children have to drop out when their family need more money.

SITE ANALYSIS

This site near a big bazaar, the most famous one ine Bali island, is a typical transition part between the tropical forest and human facilities. The historical city texture is small size and crowed, paradoxically on the other side of the road is full of trees and extend directly to the forest.

TRADITIONAL BALI ARCHITECTURE ANALYSIS

CANDI BENTAR

TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE

Candi bentar is one of the most famous symbol of Bali, this door has special length-width ratio, is a classical Javanese and Balinese gateway entrance commonly found at the entrance of religious compounds, kraton palaces, or cemeteries

Bali traditional architecture is made of wood and use thatch to cover the roof. Roof is high and pyramid, is good for drain away water in tropic forest. There is nearly no walls because people need to ventilate in hot atmosphere.

ELEVATION ANALYSIS elevation design extract Bali element of traditional architectures, big roof and wood structure were the main part of kindergarten. Also apply new things like big skylight and walls to limit the programs.

ELEVATION ANALYSIS

TRADITIONAL STRUCTURE N a t u r a l m a t e r i a l s a r e n a t ive people‘s most important resources to build architecture such as wood and stone. They use wood as the frame and shelf to build big roof to create shadows for avoiding sunlights.

ARCHITECTURE

Plan use three “L to build a gradual progress from human architecture and natural forest. Southern part is road and market, so I prolong the wall to separate the noise and artificiality from the classroom. This part is more public and more near human society. At the bottom of the wall is a 70cm craft that children can cross the wall go directly to market to feel real society. Middle part is classroom, each classroom has a small garden, all classroom wall face to the forest can be open. Northern part is a playground and full of play equipments, almost no walls there to separate children and nature. Stright lines were used in the southern part while soft curves were used in northern part as an implicit to show the soft transition.

RENDERING OF CLASSROOM This view was seen in classroom, face to forest. Walls here rise gradual higher to show the nature.

Walls from public room to playground gradually raise the hight of cracks locate at the bottom. This design help children cross the whole architecture easily, and guide them relate society with nature naturally.

Chongqing is full of magic realism, top half city and down half city locate both in the Yuzhong peninsula, and big hight difference which made this city just like Cyberpunk city in the book Neuromancer called Chiba. I choose Jiefangbei as site to build a big skyscraper to put all amusements in it.

UP THE HALF-CITY On the top of mountain, so called up the half-city. developing progress too fast to keep native cultures and hight differences.

DOWN THE HALF-CITY Higher density and small architectures with Low-income group. Full of diversities but also full of potential crime.

Virtual Reality make nearly every experiences can be touched ina little room. Short distance and variable entertainments keep people stay in one place to waste their time, When all these amusements put together in just one building, people totally lose control of their mind and behavior. Chiba is full of every dreams and make every impossible possible.
