SHANGRI LA TBILISI SPONSORED THE BAKURIANI-2023 IN GEORGIA
The Bakuriani-2023 para-skiing championship among girls is starting to be a good tradition In Georgia. Being a part of the “Active life is my nature” project, it was the second time for the championship which was held in the Bakuriani village, organized by the Youth Media Union and with the general sponsorship of Shangri La Tbilisi.

Zugdidi and Kutaisi came for the para-skiing championship, including participants who were totally blind, deaf, with spinal cord injuries, disabled and wheelchair users.
This year women suffering from breast cancer from the organization “Europa Dona” were added to the team. Also, for the first time, the administration of the Nadzaladevi district was involved in the project, they sent a team of 3 people to Bakuriani and gave them such a great opportunity to participate in the championship.

The championship was held in a very exciting and joyful atmosphere. 18 girls with disabilities competed in different disciplines and did not spare themselves to achieve the desired results.
Despite the competition, the participants enthusiastically cheered each other on. As a result, Nino Sabashvili, who uses a wheelchair, won and took the transitional trophy to Kareli for one year.
The second place went to the totally blind Natalya Gorgisheli from Tbilisi, and the third place went to the visually impaired Fotina Khuroshvili from Tbilisi. The winners were awarded with diplomas and medals. Congratulations to all the participants for their outstanding performances!
The event was supported by Shangri La Tbilisi. The event was organized by the Youth Media Union” and implemented the 2006 UN Convention article 30 on the Rights of People with Disabilities, which was ratified by Georgia aiming to break down stereotypes about people with disabilities.
