A. L. Terni (1859-1914).
Real name is Georg Fischhoff (worked under various pseudonyms, one of which is A. L. Terni). At first Austrian born Georg studied architecture, and then at the School of Applied Arts in Vienna and Munich. He worked in Nice, Naples and other Italian cities. His works are preserved in private collections. The picture shows a typical Italian landscape - azure sky and sea coast with characteristic houses, cypresses and pines.

Richard Sommer - (1866-1939).
Born in Munich. 1884-93 He studied at the St. Petersburg Imperial Art Academy. In the 1890s and 1900s, he worked in Central Asia - in Tashkent, Bukhara and Samarkand. During this period, a series of paintings depicting the stories of Central Asia were created, and throughout his life the artist would return to this theme many times. 1912-17 Sommer’s traveled to Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The history, existence and types of the Caucasus become an important theme of his work. He lived in Georgia for some time. In 1939, Sommer was deported from Georgia together with other members of the German colony, and his trace is lost. R. Sommer’s work is characterized by the popular desire for oriental themes for this period. He is attracted by the exoticism of Eastern existence, the charm of bustling bazaars and shadowy corners of old cities, life scenes, steppe landscapes, etc. The creative mastery of the artist is characterized by the special sound of the animated effects of light and shade and color.

Gabriel Schachinger (1850-1912).
Bavarian royal court painter. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. 1876-78 He studied in Italy with the funding of the Bavarian government.
He worked in the genre of portrait, still life, and created genre compositions. His most famous painting is the portrait of the Bavarian king Ludwig II of Bavaria, made in 1887.
A young woman sitting in a chair is depicted in a 3/4 perspective, who seems to have stopped reading a book for a moment and is gazing at her expressive gaze. The model is wearing a dark blue draped dress with white lace detailing.

Stefan Bakalowicz (1857-1947).
was born in Warsaw. 1876-81 He studied at the St. Petersburg Art Academy. His work was greatly influenced by the school of Jan Matejko. He lived in Rome from 1883. In 1886, he was awarded the title of academician of historical painting.
He worked in the historical genre, mainly painting portraits from the life of ancient Rome. The presented work is one of the samples of the portrait genre, in which an attractive young woman sitting in a chair and asleep is depicted.
