Physical exercise can help in development of new Brain cells Recent research has suggested that physical exercise is very helpful for development of new neurons in adult brain. The study has determined that mice that spent time running on wheels not only developed twice thev normal number of new neurons, but also showed an increased ability to distinguish new vobjects from familiar objects. This may provide you with good reason to go on with your workout even when you will be going for office in future. students remember that a healthy body is like a Temple which should be maintained well.

Government is thinking of putting Radio collars to track Elephant movements Why: In the last one year more than 400 human and 100 elephants have lost their lives due to their interaction. Due to increasing population, agricultural land has grown and a lot of forest area is getting converted into farmland, increasing the conflict between humans and elephants.

What are Radio collars: These are collars fitted with a special machine which transmits the location of the animal (In our case it is Elephant).

How will it help: Elephants do not stay in one place as they love migration from place to place in search of food and water. Radio collar will help us establish the yearly pattern of travel of these animals and hence we can inform the farmers to avoid these location. Also we can give farmers some money if elephants comes and destroys their field or we can completely buy those plots so that elephants can easily travel.

Archeological survey of India has found a complete new city in Tamil Nadu’s Sivanaga district, according to a rough estimate the city is older than 2500 years. What else was found: Jewellery, fine game stones, semi-precious stones, Refined brick structures and a dozen Tamil Brahmi Inscriptions, pottery, bone tools and weapons. Is there any need for us to study such an old city: Yes with all the artifacts (above mentioned findings) we can analyze and understand how people used to live their lives 2500 years ago? What was the level of their technological achievement? Once we understand what were they like we can also conclude how different or similar we are today from our ancestors also the scripture and written records show us the connections of our olden towns with other regions of the world.

ARE you sleeping well

Are you

Sleeping Well ?

Proper sleep is as important as watching WWE matches and hence in this article we have presented to you the need and mechanism of a good sleep. Hope you have a wonderful sleeping experience.

W

ho doesn’t like sleeping? You may remember your teacher catching you or any of your friend dozing in the class and such instances are both embarrassing and momentary. Proper sleep is an important component of human development. [A good and sound sleep is equally important for Individuals of all ages and category] If your parents requires a healthy sleep of 7 hours you too as a teenager require sleep of 8 hours. A sleepdeprived person can have many negative impacts on his health and working efficiency but before we look at various negative impacts of less sleep. Let us answer certain curiosity-coated question.

Why do we sleep?

Have you ever thought why do we sleep? Why can’t we stay awake like mobile phones, working all time. It’s important for you as a student to understand why do we sleep. When we work during the day in your case you study, or at least try to, brain uses energy and various waste products are formed and one of

8

December 2015

them is Adenosine (also known as sleep pressurizer) as the content of this waste product increases brain gives the signal to various organs that it is time to sleep. This signal is sent to body by internal hormones and external indicators like darkness. Now you have understood why do we sleep, it is equally important for you to understand what happens when we are sleeping.

What happens when we sleep?

The brain initially goes into temporary phase of rest and other organs reduce the pace(Speed) at which they work. During sleep our DNA gets repaired and the waste by-product in our brain is cleansed by the cerebral(Related to Brain) activity termed as Glymphatic system, which uses cerebral fluid to clean this waste product. Students it is very important to understand that all these processes are continuous but their intensity increases during sleep. Hence only because of such cleansing action when we wake up after a good nap we feel fresh and ready for another day at school.

What is Origami Cultivating hobbies can be very beneficial in the long run, research have found that people who nurture diverse hobbies are socially strong. In this section we will try to provide you with diverse hobbies from all around the world.

G

eography lecture was going on and a man entered our classroom. He said something to our teacher, she smiled and nodded in agreement to what the man said, then came and sat on the last bench. The man announced that he as a “craftsman”. A term which was not there in any of our vocabulary(which means: Collection of Words) we were confused, the man then removed some colourful papers and within no time he created beautiful Flowers, Ducks and some Geometric patterns, we were all amazed and happy, a set of feelings we students hardly encounter simultaneously. The man added that he was selling a proper set and a book containing the entire valuable instruction for making the design. He told that it would cost us 10 rupees. It was a big amount; those were days when we had “vada pav” for 2 rupees. I was already attached to the idea of those colourful papers so I decided to give it a try. I had eight rupees and borrowed two rupees from my bench mate Dinesh. The man said he would come the next day with everything he has promised and left the room; he never came back neither on the next day nor any other day. Today I want to share with you students one of such paper-loving hobby. The art of creating objects, creatures, and things by folding papers in a pattern is termed as Origami (oooreee-gaa-mee). It is a Japanese word (ori-paper, gami-folding). Paper

folding is not only limited to Japan but it is part of global culture, which is also prominent in European nations and China. The culture of origami was adopted in Japan from Germany in 1860’s. Almost any material can be used for folding but specialized origami papers termed as “gami” are sold in pre-packaged packets, which range in different sizes and colour.

Origami could be good hobby for you and your friends if you like colours and love to create new things. The amount of things and creation, which can be created, is very huge. You can start with simple designs and as you learn you can go to higher level with more detailed objects. Is origami only a play and fun thing? Not really, there are number of practical application of origami like Airbags used in Car. Origami helps us to understand how an Airbag or a Parachute will unfold(Which means: Open) when there is a need to open it.

How can you learn Origami? Internet can be of great help, ask your computer teachers to explain to you more about searching on Internet. You can visit youtube.com to watch videos, which provide detailed information regarding Origami. Scan the QR code and watch a video of How to make a origami Dragon

The Story of Bank Nationalisation

Nationalisation of banks was one of the most important decision in the History of Independent India this story is about a country and its dream of acheiving Fianancial Independence .

H

ave you ever visited a bank? The atmosphere and scene inside the bank is completely different then any other organization. You may have observed a number of counters with people standing in a queue ( Which means: A line) to deposit or withdraw money, some standing with Passbook, others sipping tea and talking to the bank executive. Bank branches, ATM are everywhere. Banking today is a part of our lives but this was not the case before 1969. You would be surprise to know that there were negligible bank branches in Rural areas and most of the banking facility was limited to urban cities.. So how did banking become so “All Around Us phenomena, but before we tell you this interesting story let us understand; Why do we require so many bank branches? Your parent go to work for which they are paid, the

money, they get is used for many purpose like buying Grocery, paying your fees, visiting Doctor; even after all of this your parent save money for future, the reason may be different but everyone tries to save something. You may have seen your mother hiding some money in bottles and jars in kitchen, which is saving! Keeping all the money at one place is not a good idea so mommy keeps some money in bedroom cupboard and major part is kept in the bank. Banks help in saving and provide interest rate, moreover banks provide this money as a loan to different individualsand Companies to help them. In this manner banks helps in the circulation of money, which is healthy for the country. So more are the number of branches more people will save money and more savings means more money to lend and again more circulation . Another important reason for having more branches

is that the people have to carry only their chequebook very high rates of interest, which would reduce the and not cash or their ATM. With more technology , profit of the Farmers. So it was very important for the banking has became more cashless(Which means using government to take control of the banking sector. less and less cash). More population with banking Hence Nationalization occurred and Government connectivity means government can help more people started opening branches in rural areas. The process with their financial plans and product. was started on 19th July 1969 when Prime Minister Of India, Indira Gandhi gave a green signal to Why were there so less banks branches before 1969? Nationalisation. The banking sector in India was only serving in areas, which had a presence of industries and ports where trade So what was the impact of Nationalisation? and commerce were flourishing. These banks were run The most important achievement of nationalization by big bankers and they had many industrialists as their was that it increased the number of banks branches in advisors (Board of Members). onstructing thing is a part of Human nature, we love creating new things; you may remember creating new figures from clay in your craft lecture, wasn’t it? In a similar manner civil engineer is a person who helps in creating a structure, which is used for various purpose. Let us try to understand this through Rampur’s experience, which is a small village in state of Uttar Pradesh. There were no proper roads in this village, no toilets and drainage system; the situation was very bad, so Government decided that things couldn’t go like this, as basic development is very important for “Living life in True sense.” It was decided that Rampur will have new roads and all the houses will have toilet’s and proper drainage system will be provided to avoid any overflow of water during rain (can you discuss this with your teacher, what will be the benefits of having proper Roads in villages?). A team of Civil engineers was sent to Rampur to start planning for construction of roads and other projects. The team started surveying Hello tomorrow

passing may increase and the team should consider this factor. One of the team member was counting as to How much rainfall used to fall in the area, this was done considering that a road built in the area of high rainfall must have a strong covering (remember holes in roads in rainy season?). These engineers wrote a number of such observations and they all decided how the road would be made. Drawing and maps were drawn so that even if any of the engineers forgot anything he can refer to the drawing. The team then decided to start with the construction and material required was ordered. These engineers tested the material, which was bought, so that only good material can be used for road building, it took 18 months for the construction of road. Today even after 20 years the road is in good condition, students you may have understood that a properly planned construction can last for many years and used by next generation, also you may have seen that the role of Civil engineer is important, he has served key roles ranging from the start of any project to its completion and mostly even after completion. It is our effort through this story and article to bring forward to you a good career option and different steps you need to follow to acheive this career.

Let us understand some of the roles in detail Civil engineers work in a different project like building construction, railways, airports development, roadways, ports and bridges etc.

efore we start something we have planned as to how things will proceed in future and it is a Civil engineer who creates this plan.

reation of a plan is important but a Civil engineer has to make sure that the plan is implemented well and in time. Students you may have noticed, that of your parent do not pay the electricity bill on time they have tom pay a small fine. In the same way when a building or a road construction is delayed (late).

Hello tomorrow

The keys to patience are acceptance and faith. Accept things as they are, and look realistically at the world around you. Have faith in yourself and in the direction you have chosen.” ~ Ralph Marston

patience

One

of my early instances of encounter with the concept of patience was when I was only 13 years old. I still remember it clearly, like every other day after returning from school, I put the television on and switch to my favorite, Discovery channel. Watching the shows on discovery was always an enjoyable experience. It was a show on animals in Africa and impact of summer on rivers and ponds in African Savannah(Ask your Teacher more about this place). The most interesting fact was that there was an Anaconda hiding in one of the ponds with only it eye and nostrils out of the water. The Anaconda was there in that same positions for complete 30 days! It only moved when he saw an old deer coming near pond to quench(Which means: Satisfy) his thirst. Inwas surprised by the immense(Which means : Huge) display of patience by both, Anaconda who waited for such a long period for the Food and the discovery channel crew who recorded it for complete 30 days. Above-mentioned incident has equal impression on my mind even after 10 years. It gave me an early insight(which means: Deep undrstanding of Something)about one of the most important human quality named “Patience”. The importance of this noble quality should be realized and appreciated by every individual. If you as students are able to absorb this quality at an early stage of life then your path to success would be more enjoyable.

So what exactly is Patience ? Patience is an ability of an individual to stay calm and not panic for achieving the early result. Lets try to understand this with the help of an example, suppose your Mother gave you a Mango to eat and after eating it you decide to sow the mango seed,

Hello tomorrow

23 December 2015

now you may water it everyday and observe it every single morning. You will always think when it will grow? You may bother your mother asking her again and again the same question and she would reply that it would grow soon. In above incident you are becoming restless as plant is not growing, you should rather be carefree and do not worry about the result. May be, you are afraid that the seed will not turn into a plant and the thought is creating a doubt in your mind. Patience comes with understanding and a positive attitude (Which means: Thinking that everything will be good). In future when you go for a work in a company, factory, army, as a Doctor or any other any field of your choice, sometimes there will be pressure on you to provide early result and this will make create anger and stress in you having this quality of patience will help you tackle negative emotions and make you assured that if you work hard you can achieve your goal.

Patience is a highway to Success You may have read about many Scientists, who have worked so hard to make our life so comfortable and efficient, they not only teach us about the importance of science and hard work but also the immense amount of patience they have. Students, it would be surprising for you but the book you are reading is developed by using several technologies like computers for designing, printing press for printing the magazine and vehicles to deliver magazine at your school. All these technologies were not built in a day but it took hundreds of year to evolve, a huge amount of patience of thousand of individual are involved in development of these technologies. Do you know that

the Inventor of the electric bulb Thomas Edison created thousands of bulb sample before successfully inventing his final bulb, just imagine if he would have lost his patience somewhere in between the experiments we would still be probably living in darkness. Always remember purpose and patience will provide a direction to your life which is a key for success. In future there will be time when you will crave for success and run after money, you should understand that success comes to those who work hard for achieving it with patience. There will be time when your hard work and patience may not be adequately rewarded, in such situation loosing hope will not be a good idea, I wish to explain this with an example, you may have probably heard about South Africa, today this country is prosperous and developing but few decades earlier it was governed by minority community of white people in race and the majority was ignored by this class, they were not given a fair chance in governance and administration of the country but one man tried to change things his name was Nelson Mandella He tried to resist government with thousands of other volunteers. He was sent to prison and had spend 27 years of his life, but he never lost hope, he had patience after waiting for such a long he was released and he became the first black President of South Africa. By now you may have very well understood that patience is an important quality of life and being patient is not an easy job but I know that no job is difficult for you. So next time you ask something from your parents and they are not giving it to you , do not be angry but be patient you will get it some day.

Some suggestion for Parents/Teacher

•

If your child/students lack patience that does not mean you too should loose yours. Give them a chance to understand this quality.

• •

Invictus is a nice movie; with Nelson Mandella as a central figure give it a try this weekend with your family. Concepts and facts are volatile but values are rigid, Teachers should try to discuss great events and people in class. This hardly takes 5 minutes!

What can we learn from him? Hard work is the key to the door of success: After looking at the timeline of different works done by Dr. Singh you may have observed that he has worked in very prestigious and important positions. Continuous hard work is required for such a progressive career. Do you know that Dr. Singh has worked very hard in his studies and work to achieve such a milestone. You would be astonished (Which means: Surprised) to know that he had stood first throughout his higher eductaion. Respect for work: Dr. Singh has worked at different positions, weather as a Finance Minister or a Prime Minister he has shown equal respect and dedication towards work. It should be understood by you that any type of work is important and it should be respected and hence it is rightly said, “Work is worship”. Down to earth: In his personal life Dr. Singh is a humble and down to earth person, he wears simple clothing and has a decent standard of living, you too should understand that the greatest mind of the world always grew in simplicity and always remember, “Simple Living and High Thinking”; should be your motto. You should work on your plans even when people criticize you: In 2009 there was an allegation on Dr. Singh that he has allocated coal mines to certain companies who were not good and even paid very less, during this time a lot of people criticized him and there was a huge pressure on him but he managed it well and came out of the problems. You too should not be worried as what will other say before starting anything. Age is only a number: Dr. Singh is more than 80 years old and he is still very active and speaks out his mind on various issues. You may be young today but you have a great life ahead. Do not doubt your decisions only because you are young or old. With great Power, comes great Responsibility: Students you should understand that as your powers in any position increases, your responsibility to perform better also increases. Hence you should dream of becoming big and more responsible towards others and self. Good education is very important in life: Dr. Singh received a scholarship to study at St. John College at university of Cambridge. He was very much influenced by his teachers there and used his knowledge to help India and its economy, you should as a student concentrate on getting good education at right time as millions of children do not get this opportunity. Opportunities come to those who search them: Dr. Singh is the best example of utilizing best from the opportunities provided to him. In his farewell speech ahe said that “he was very happy that the nation gave opportunity to the boy who lost everything in partition”. He becomes what he is irrespective of his background. In the same manner you should work hard to Grasp the opportunities in front of you regardless of your background.

Wisdom

From The Old Tree

“I don’t want to eat anything, I

will not even have my milk”.

Jasmine who was visibly angry at the dish she was served this morning said in anger,

You should not skip your breakfast, it is the most important meal of the day, you will be going to school with no food how will you pay attention to what your teacher teaches you ? Daddu who was reading his newspaper looked at Jasmine and said,

“But daddu I don’t

like what is being served” Jasmine requested

Daddu continued without paying attention

“Jasmine do you know How breakfast got its name?”

“ No Daddu”

replied Jasmine

“Human body requires energy for its working, similar to petrol which

your papa puts in his car and same is the reason why we all adults charge our Mobile phones. Energy is of Prime importance for working of everything around us. Unlike petrol and mobile charging we need to have food more often and regularly,For example if you do not put petrol in your car it does not dies rather, only does not performs its function but if you do not eat regularly you may die in some day.” “And about the name?”

Interrupted Jasmine.

Hello tomorrow

“ Yes I am coming to that dear, when you sleep your body has other

functions to perform, most of the organs get slow but your body is fasting by staying away from food and water for almost 8-9 hours, so when you eat in the morning you are breaking that fast and hence the name breakfast”.

I am excited to share this information with Afreen and Sujata. Tell me more about this” Jasmine was very happy and she even started eating her breakfast.

“Sure dear, your breakfast not only help you to stay alert in the class

but also helps you in proper and timely growth so you should always try to have something for the breakfast, and Jasmine I almost forgot to tell you that water is an equally important component, water is required for innumerable functional delivery of our body be it cell repair or proper functioning of the organs, water is also known as the lifeline of humans”

“You know Jasmine after waking up you should have at least one glass of water, this will help you in proper functioning of vital organs throughout the day, also as you wake up body is thirsty and requires water. You know in south Asian countries like China, Japan and Thailand water is used for treatment of many diseases and it is a part of their eating habit For example having warm soup in morning is very common in China” added Daddu.

“Daddu this was really informative and helpful, thanks a lot but can you please tell me more good things” asked Jasmine.

“I will dear but now it’s time to leave to school and being late to school is

not an identity of true student anyway as you have completed your breakfast as a reward I will tell you the story of How an afternoon shower changed the history of India. With exchange of good wishes Jasmine left for the school with his Papa while Daddu got immersed in the Newspaper.
