A/W TRENDS

Forals? For Autumn?Groundbreaking!

Buds might typically suggest spring dressing, but this autumn expect unapologetically full floral fashion. And when it comes to blooms, the bigger the better. The same goes for handbags; the days of the dainty clutch are long gone and this autumn is about bags that are big enough to fit in the kitchen sink, not to mention your usual make-up, phone and keys.

Tartan and checks made a comeback last year and they’re not going anywhere, and don’t be afraid to clash. Plus, channel your inner golfer because the diamond Argyll sweater was seen gracing catwalks again. Waist-cinching belts are also in this season – wear them around chunky knits to add shape to your silhouette. And while trainers still hold a special place in our hearts (and more importantly on our feet), the less comfortable but infinitely more elegant pointy shoe is making a comeback. Invest in ‘party feet’ now at River Island on the High Street.

When it comes to outerwear, you can dig out last year’s puffa jacket as they’re still big news. If you fancy something new though, invest in brown leather. From camel to chocolate, every shade is acceptable, but midi is the length of choice for the fashionistas.

Jewellery

More is, well, more when it comes to jewellery this season, so layer up those pearls, stack those bracelets, and decorate every inch of your ear. Customised jewellery also continues to be popular, with letter pendants and birthstones adding a personal touch to your trinkets. Pearls are also making a comeback, with people opting for natural and irregular shapes over the more traditional cultured look. Head to Anja Potze Fine Jewellery on Friar Street to find your new signature look.

Lingerie

Bin the beige. Prints, patterns and textures are dominating the world of lingerie this winter. There’s also now a better selection when it comes to support, so you can decide what suits your shape. Embrace Boutique in Reindeer Court sells the most covetable undies, including Venus by Maison Lejaby which features lace and sultry suede, Danny by Marie Jo L’Aventure with its power dressing pinstripe detail, and Wild Flower by PrimaDonna, which contrasts lush winter flowers with a trendy tweed design

Footwear

Stilettos might make you sashay like a supermodel, but when you’re doing the Sunday shop or enjoying a country walk and pub lunch, you need function as well as form. With 50 years’ experience in the shoe trade, Hotter Shoes on the High Street knows everything there is to know about the perfect shoe. They stock perfect winter boots, lightweight active shoes and contemporary casuals that are designed in their Comfort Lab with signature ‘Fit, Bounce, Flex’ in every pair.

Worcestershire Breast UnitHaven is the local breastcancer charity, supporting thecounty’s breast care needs.

The charity was established in April 2016, following astounding efforts of the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign to raise £1.8 million to build the new Worcestershire Breast Unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The aim is to make the Unit one of the best in the UK, providing clinical services, support and assistance over and above what the NHS can offer.

The Worcester BID fashion show is being supported by BID businesses Anja Potze, Stripes and Embrace, among others.

Tickets are available now from £15.00 via the Visit Worcester Facebook / Eventbrite.

Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven is an independent charity that relies solely on donations. All care is free to patients and it aims to raise £200,000 a year to provide its vital services and to keep the unit at the forefront of patient care. This includes:

1) providing the invaluable services of Breast Cancer Haven, who offer complementary therapies, every Thursday on site at the unit – the first collaboration of its kind.

2) support the clinical needs of the team over and above NHS provision, such as providing equipment for the Breast Unit, training for staff not funded by the NHS and support to patients.

Fiona Charny, Chair of the Trustees, said: “People in the county were passionate about supporting the vision of the breast care unit and made it their own by raising the funds to make it happen. It is important now to maintain and drive the vision forward to make sure that the unit fulfils its potential to be the very best centre of care for the women and men who will visit it in the future.”
