A/W TRENDS “Forals? For Autumn? Groundbreaking!”
Buds might typically suggest spring dressing, but this autumn expect unapologetically full floral fashion. And when it comes to blooms, the bigger the better. The same goes for handbags; the days of the dainty clutch are long gone and this autumn is about bags that are big enough to fit in the kitchen sink, not to mention your usual make-up, phone and keys. Tartan and checks made a comeback last year and they’re not going anywhere, and don’t be afraid to clash. Plus, channel your inner golfer because the diamond Argyll sweater was seen gracing catwalks again. Waist-cinching belts are also in this season – wear them around chunky knits to add shape to your silhouette. And while trainers still hold a special place in our hearts (and more importantly on our feet), the less comfortable but infinitely more elegant pointy shoe is making a comeback. Invest in ‘party feet’ now at River Island on the High Street. When it comes to outerwear, you can dig out last year’s puffa jacket as they’re still big news. If you fancy something new though, invest in brown leather. From camel to chocolate, every shade is acceptable, but midi is the length of choice for the fashionistas.
