Fun things to do during the Fall

Hi guys!! As you know, fall is coming soon!! And my favorite season is fall!! I thought that I should write about a few fun things that you and your family could do together. So, some of you guys are super, super bored!! And I want to make sure that my friends at Keppel have tons of fun during the fall! A few cool things you could do are go hiking on a mountain or a hill, apple picking, collecting some beautiful and colorful leaves. Some of you like to play sports so here are a few you could play: You could play football, soccer, baseball, or volleyball. One more thing to do is to go in a corn maze, try not to get lost!

Halloween Recipe Do you love snacks, well you're in for a treat On how to make the cutest, yummiest snack of all. I hope you enjoy this delicious, yummy treat.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line baking sheets with baking parchment.

Beat shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, and 1/2 cup white sugar together with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth. Beat egg into the creamy mixture until fully incorporated. Stir milk and vanilla extract into the mixture until smooth.

Mix flour, baking soda, and salt together in a small bowl; add to the wet mixture in the large bowl and stir until completely incorporated into a dough. Divide and shape dough into 48 balls.

Spread 1/4 cup white sugar into a wide, shallow bowl. Roll dough balls in sugar to coat and arrange about 2 inches apart onto prepared baking sheets.

Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Remove cookies from oven and quickly press a dimple into the middle of each cookie using the blunt end of a wooden spoon. Cool cookies on sheets for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.

Cut each chocolate sphere into two hemispheres. Put one piece atop each cookie with the rounded side facing upwards.

Spoon frosting into a pastry bag with a small round tip or a plastic freezer bag with one end snipped off. Dab a small amount of frosting onto the back of each candy eyeball and stick two onto each chocolate candy to resemble eyes. Then pipe frosting in four thin lines, starting at the base of the candy, on each side atop the cookie to resemble spider legs.

Let frosting harden at room temperature, about 30 minutes. Store cookies in an airtight container.

Fall Leaf Colors Changing!

Leaves starting from summer through Winter have been changing color. During Fall the colors of the leaves originally change into red, purple, orange, yellow, and lastly brown. The colors change by a chemical process that take place in the tree as the seasons change from Summer to Winter. In the fall, because of changes in the length of daylight and the changes in temperature the leaves stop their food making process. Something called chlorophyll breaks down which causes the green color of the leaves to go away and to cause the yellow, orange, red, brown, and purple to appear and be visible to give you the fall splendor.

Ghost Halloween Crafts

1. Ghosts Plates 1. Get a paper plate.

2. Cut out 2 circles for the eyes.

3. Cut out 1 circle for the nose.

4. Cut out 2 arms and glue them on the side of the plate.

5. Cut out strips of tissue paper and glue it on the bottom of the plate.

6. Glue on the eyes on the middle/top of the plate.

7. Glue on the nose in the middle right below the eyes.

Then you’re done 2. Lolli Ghosts 1. Get a lollipop.

2. Get a tissue or two.

3. Gut the lollipop in the middle of the tissue(s).

4. Wrap the tissue around the lollipop.

5. Tie the tissue on the bottom with a rubber band.

6. Draw eyes on it.

Then you’re done!

First, there’s no vegetable as evil as the Creepy Carrot.

The story starts when you meet Jasper Rabbit who eats carrots all the time!

“He eats them on the way to school.”

“He eats them going to Little League.

He eats them walking home.

Until the day the carrots start following him...or are they?”

Jaspers favorite carrot patch is the Cracken hopper Field. Soon the Craken Hopper carrots realize that their being EATEN, there family is slowly disappearing into Jasper's mouth! The carrots are out to seek revenge. They will follow Jasper and haunt him for eating them. Jasper knows the only way to stop them is to not eat carrots.

That's the story about Jasper Rabbit. forever scared of carrots.

You must be thinking there's no villain as evil as the creepy carrots, but there is and that is: One Eye! You might be thinking who’s One Eye. One Eye is one of the most evilist cat there is, from the Warrior Cat Series, Dawn Of Clans.

One Eye even took over the forest, getting followers, for sure ClearSky won't be leader of the forest with a cat like One Eye. Here's the story of One Eye: One Eye is a very old cat, but that doesn't mean he's not powerful……

He asked to join ClearSky group with a kittypet (pet) named Tom. When Sparrow Fur, Turtles Tails daughter crossed the territory to see her brother Owl Eyes, One Eye accussed Sparrow Fur for crossing the border and attacked Sparrow Fur, Tom was there to save his daughter in heart beat. Clear Sky noticed One yes villiance and sended him away, “I'll be back.” One Eye mewed. Eventually One Eye gathered rouges (loners)and attacked ClearSky left drafted. ClearSky, GreyWing, and Thunder decided to help drive One Eye out, it worked, but One Eye will always be in StarClan (A clan of spirit cats) planning his revenge.

This time you'll learn about the most powerful dragon ever: Darkstalker. As a young dragon, Darkstalker, was a sweet, charming, dragonet.

Darkstalker fell for a smart, worried, talented seer named: ClearSight. Like Clearsight, he could see the future, but since he was born under the three full moons, he got the power to see the future, and read minds. He also got animus magic, the most powerful magic of all time. A seawing animus Fathom who befriended him warned him about using his magic, “Don't use your powers, they’ll make you lose your soul.” Fathom warned, Darkstalker ignored all Fathoms warnings.

ClearSight new the challenges of using animals magic…. Darkstalker to please his future mate: ClearSight, he made a scroll what can contain animus magic.

Once the icewings took Darkstalkers mother: FoeSlayer, the loss was too much for Darkstalker and changed him, to a power-hungry, sad Darkstalker. Darkstalker was slowly losing his his soul… Clearsight and Fathom teamed up to put DarkStalker to sleep forever. 2,000 years later the dragonets of Jade Mountain accidentally freed him. DarkStalker and Moonwatcher became best friends. Darkstalker started to use his animus powers more and you think an immortal spell was enough. Darkstalker soon took the Nightwing throne, but at the end he gave the throne back to Queen Glory of the Nightwings and Rainwings. That, is Darkstalker.

CREEPY CRAWLIES

By Kuvira Kapoor FLYING FUR This species is a favorite of many people. It flies, but it’s not a bird. It’s one animal that represents Halloween. Can you guess which animal it is? It's a bat! Bats are extraordinary creatures. They are warm blooded like humans. They feed their babies with milk. Bats are the only mammals that fly.

Bats are nocturnal creatures; that means they are active in the night. They have lots of special skills, including night vision and good hearing. Bats eat fish, insects, nectar, fruit skins, and other foods.

Bats are famous mostly around Halloween time. Often, in Halloween shows or movies you see bats flying away, giving a spooky effect.

WEB WEAVERS Spiders make beautiful webs. Your favorite bug might be a spider. They have eight legs, unlike most bugs. Like bats, spiders enhance the spookiness of halloween. When you go trick-or-treating you might see fake giant spider web with a fake spider on it. Spiders are such a big thing during Halloween because lots of people have arachnophobia (a fear of spiders). Some people might adore spiders and others might run the moment they see one. Do you adore spiders?

Spiders eat other bugs such as flies, butterflies, and other bugs. Imagine what the world would be like without spiders.

It would be overflowing with all kinds of bugs! So, when you really think about it, spiders are actually not that bad.

A good book to read, if you have not already read it, is “Charlotte's Web” by E.B White. This book has a nice spider character in it.

MIDNIGHT MEOWS On Halloween night when you feel the emerald eyes of a black cat staring at you, you might want to run as far as possible from the very spot you were standing in. There is nothing to fear because they meow and purr like any other cat. Black cats are said to be a bad omen. Do you think so?

Black cats are a symbol of Halloween because, long ago it was believed that witches could shape shift into black cats.

Back then people would dress up as monsters to keep them away. Eventually, this became a part of Halloween. With people dressing up as witches and monsters.

Broomy

By Kuvira Kapoor On one not-so-ordinary day, the witch was getting her teeth unbrushed, by putting dirt on them, and her hair tangled. For it was the one day of the year where the witch could go out as herself. It was Halloween. The witch called for her broom, “BROOMY” she said in a booming voice. The broom was resting against the wall. At the sound of old witch Heidi’s voice, the broom flew out the door just before it shut closed. The witch sat on the broom and they flew out of sight, over the school and far away. As they were flying, the witch asked the broom how he was doing. Although most people thought that the witch was evil, they knew that she had a soft spot for her broom.

He answered, “I’m fine,” even though he was not. When he was flying, he always got sky sick, but he never said anything. This was because he knew what the witch would do to him.

When they got back to the old cabin, the broom longed to sweep the dusty floors of the witch’s cabin.

Instead, he flew to his corner. He rested. After all, flying took a lot of work! Then, the witch changed into her dirtiest clothes and went dumpster diving. She went diving for dirty candy, for her candy recipe, for the kids tonight. The broom did not agree with that plan. It wanted to be good after all! For some reason, every other broomstick the witch owned had disappeared! He did not want to be the next one.

It was time to go trick or treating, so they waited for the first trick-or-treater. The broom was thinking about how much it wanted to be good, and suddenly he screamed “I WANT TO BE GOOD!” The witch looked surprised. Then, breaking the unbearable silence, the witch said in a calm voice, “I know you do.”

Then, she turned to the closet, took out her wand, and waved it in the air…

All of a sudden the broom could feel itself transforming! He could feel his heart thumping loudly as though trying to get out of an unbreakable box. He could feel memories rushing in; memories of being a boy and of him climbing trees. “What did you do to me,” he tried to ask the witch, but she was gone! All his surroundings were gone! His corner was gone! Now, he saw a room with a glowing orb on a table. There was a pretty young woman smiling at him. Yes he remembered now. He remembered getting blasted by a blinding green light. He had come here after school because this woman had sent him a letter which had said: “Please join me after school at The Orb, at Noplace road, building number 571. Come through the back door.”

The woman brought him a glass of water and settled him into a chair. “Sorry we were serving elves at the moment, and they got scared and bombarded you with spells,” said the lady. The broom, now a boy, sounded confused when he said, “ Elves are not real!”

The woman ignored him and said “You are an elf!”

Tanya: What happened? Is everything ok?

Mom: I can’t find your brother:( Tanya: Did you check his school. He’s supposed to be there…

Mom: They were acting weird. They said nothing.

Tanya: Okay...what about Dad? Mom: I can’t find him either…
