Leela Samson, Alka Lajmi and Neelima Kadhe on a journey that never ends P
arikramaa--a journey that never ends, the two days dance festival organized by the Kalavardhini Charitable Trust, spearheaded by renowned Bharatnatyam exponent Dr Sucheta Chapekar, was a blend of various Indian classical dance forms. The first edition of 'Parikramaa' was organized last year to pay tribute to the Founder-M e n t o r o f Tr u s t a n d renowned Bharat Natyam exponent Dr. Chapekar on her 60th birthday. The dance festival comprised Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali performance by Sucheta Chapekar, Leela Samson and the troupe of Kerela Kalamandalama group respectively. Additionally, there was some amazing music by Shridhar
Parthasarathi and group in 'Talvadya Kacheri'. The motive was to bring different Indian classical dance forms together to revive them. The show received

competition for set presentation. The group has won loads of accolades by winning prizes in various categories like acting, lights, music, supporting role. Now the group plan to perform the same drama for Zee Marathi awards or Ma Ta Awards ceremony. Atharva theatre group has been very active for the past eight years. This drama group was formed by the people working in different areas like Medical Engineering, Architecture and Professors along with some students.

Samvaad, a symposium by learned speakers on contemporary issues related to the Indian classical dance was also organized at Abasaheb Garware Hall on Karve Road. Stalwarts like Padmashree Leela Samson, Kalamandalam Balasubramanian, Vaibhav Arekar, Kuchipudi dancer Geeta Madhuri participated in the symposium. Dr. Chapekar was the convener of 'Samvaad'.
Yoga classes at Chittaranjan Vatika odel Colony Parisar Sudharna Samiti has started free yoga classes under the guidance of Shyam Potnis at the newly- built Jivhala hall at Chittaranjan Vatika. Every evening around 35-40 members gather here and perform exercises enthusiastically. Potnis
he drama presented by Atharva Group on November 12 received loads of appreciation and won several prizes at the 49th state level drama competition. The drama was presented at Bharat Natya Mandir. The play 'Kaka ki Kaku' received prizes in various categories. Director of this play Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Patil said, "We had taken great efforts for this drama. Thorough practice sessions helped us to win this contest". Kamlesh Biche won first prize in this

She said, "Artist coming in should definitely be aware of the responsibility they will have in the field of art. One should not only love the art but also get bonded with it." 'Arghyam', was the programme where disciples of Dr. Chapekar including Alka Lajmi and Neelima Kadhe performed Bharatanatyam sequences followed by Dhanashri Apte's performances on 'Nritya Ganga'.
