100 girls queue up for Miss Fresh Face

or the first time, the city seemed to blooming with beautiful girls on the semi final audition of mega model hunt -Dabur Gulabari Miss Fresh Face of UP, 2009 on November 28. The audition, which saw close to 100 semi-finalists from Ghaziabad and Noida regions participating, was organized to identify the finalists to represent the region in the Grand Finale to be held at Lucknow on December 19. The winner of the grand finale will walk away with a one-year modeling contract with Dabur Gulabari. The contestants went through three intense rounds of audition -- the introduction round, talent showcase round and a question-answer session with the judges. Most exciting of the lot was the talent showcase round, which saw contestants display a variety of talent, ranging from dance performances to stand-up com-

edy. The names of the 18 finalists for the Grand Finale will be announced after the completion of the eight city auditions. Simultaneous auditions are also being conducted in Agra and Meerut on November 29. Besides, auditions would also be held at Kanpur and Lucknow on 5th and 6th of December respectively and in Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Allahabad on 12th and 13th of December. The finalists will undergo a 5-day intensive grooming programme in Lucknow in the presence of experts from diverse fields, before they vie for the coveted title in the grand finale in Lucknow on 19th of December. "Dabur is looking for a face that embodies the values of Dabur Gulabari—soft, fresh skin that glows like a rose. Rose has been synonymous with beauty, softness and freshness," said Prashant Aggarwal, Dabur India Ltd Brand Head-Gulabari.

"We are here not to publicise these things or getting any mileage, but simply because it is our gesture towards these destitute people. These are, in fact, our little gifts for them," said Col Tejandra Pal Tyagi, chairman of the RWA Federation, Ghaziabad. "Prior to this blanket distribution, we had organised health check-up camps, one vaccination camp and now we are coming here with blankets for these people. A week ago, two hand pumps have been sanctioned by our organisation for this jhuggi colony," he added. Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of RWA Federation Rajiv Aggarwal said, "We have decided to adopt each jhuggi-jhonpri colony from different zones of the city and included in every development schemes like a normal area." Senior members of the RWA Federation, like Harsh Nath Jha, BK Aggarwal, Ajay Aggarwal,

Jaswant Arora and Vinay Gupta, were present on the occasion. The members of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha Faouzi PP Singh, Fauzi Rajendra Baggassi, Rajiv Vats, Pritam Lal have also expressed their heartfelt sentiments while distributing the blankets to the poor people.

Rukhsana, Samana, Khalida, Shahjadi Khatun, Seema Devi, Shabnam, Hafiza, Zahira, Nirmala Devi, Shahnaz, Radha, Sunita, Meena, Geeta, Krishna and Kumkum were the main recipients of blankets, while Dainik Jagran played as media partner.

Cultural fiesta at KDB School

DB Public School, Kavi N a g a r, Ghaziabad, organised a grand cultural fiesta on the occasion of its annual function recently. Worldrenowned Odissi dancer Sonal Mansingh graced the occasion as the chief guest. School chairman NK Bajaj, members of the school management committee Nirmal Jyoti Bajaj, Ashwani Bajaj,

Va n d a n a B a j a j , R B L Goswami and many other dignitaries were present to witness the spectacular performance given by the students. The programme commenced with the welcome of the chief guest by principal Bimla Saini and lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Sonal Man Singh amidst the chanting of mantras to invoke God's

blessings. The principal presented the school's annual report putting on record all the achievements of the school in various spheres during the session. 'Prakash Stambh Gautam Buddha', the dance drama presented by more than 300 students, slowly unfolded the life history of Gautam Buddha right from his childhood to the attainment

of enlightenment. The whole atmosphere became "budhmaye" with the words 'Budham Sharnam Gachhami' resounding through the mind and soul of the audience. The doctrine of Buddhism, with kindness and quest for wisdom at its core, reached well down to the hearts of the hundreds of viewers who sat spellbound throughout the presentation and cheered the performers with thunderous applause. The presentation was praised wholeheartedly by the chief guest who blessed the children with highly motivational words, urging them to stick to their heritage and roots and internationalise their culture which is the crux of life. NK Bajaj, chairman of the school, felicitated the board class toppers of year 2009 with certificates and cash prizes. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the school chairman and singing of the national anthem.
