60 Years Indonesia – Japan Relationship In 2018, Japan and Indonesia will welcome the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship. In that year proclaimed various events and activities in various fields as a momentum to improve relations between the two countries. In order to welcome the 60 years of Indonesia’s friendship, there will be a series of activities including dance performances from Japan and Bali, photography & barong mask exhibition and dance workshop. This series of activities will be held at Setia Darma House of Mask and Puppets in Tegal Bingin, Gianyar, Bali, starting from May 19, 2018 and lasting for a week. The Japanese Consulate-General in Denpasar in cooperation with Hayachine Take Kagura Supporters’ Association and Setia Darma house of mask and puppets will hold a Hayachine Take Kagura Performance and Workshop as part of the activities of the 60th Anniversary of Japan-Indonesia Diplomatic Relations. The Hayachine Take Kagura show in Bali this time is the second show after the first show that has been held in 2015. This activity was conducted on the initiative of Hayachine Take Kagura Supporters’ Association in collaboration with Ibu Kaoru Nakaya, Group artist Leader “Bali Wali” who has participated as a main guest at the National Kagura Meeting in Hayachine in 2016. As a form of gratitude for their cooperation, the group was invited back to perform at this event.

topeng tua A Balinese masked dancer performs the character of an old man a kind of sacred dance. Usually dance inside the temple or during the ritual ceremony. dancers wear masks and the movement is very slow and unique.

tari barong a kind of sacred dance, usually perform in the temple or during the ceremony. danced by 2 dancers (front and back). the barong becomes a good symbol and the rangda becomes the evil symbol. barong and randa always fight even though one lost finally live again and fight again till now. The battle between Barong and Rangda is featured in the Barong dance to represent the eternal battle between good and evil.

Bali Wali Formed in 2011, Bali Wali is a Balinese dance and music group consisting of 15 main members: University professor, high school and elementary school teachers, active musicians and dancers and occasionally elementary school students too, according to event content. Yusuke Nishimura www.yusukephoto.com In 2002, Yusuke Nishimura moved to California to pursue his career in movie making. After he attended his first college, California State University of Long Beach, he worked on a movie set for 3 years. While he was learning about movie production, he also discovered his passion for photography. He decided to go to Art Center College of Design Pasadena to learn more about commercial photography. When he graduated from the college in the summer of 2007, he realized he had a great passion for shooting portraitures. Right after graduation, he moved to New York City and worked there as a photographer until Feb 2009. He is currently based in Tokyo and shoots editorials and advertisements. He has also directed a short movie, music videos and TV commercials. For 3 years, he traveled throughout Japan to take photos of locals performing traditional Japanese folk dances and rituals. The collection of portraits was published as the photobook “The Folk” (published by Little more Co., Ltd.) in December 2015. Doddy Obenk 1983 Doddy Obenk start learning photography. 2001 start working in commercial photograph. Learning commercial photography from many professional photographers such as Sarah Silver, Dennis Savini, Nadia Wintsgerard, Geraldo Pace, Hans Neleman, Eric Vivtor and Urs Rechter. 2006 start exhibition his personal works especially in dance photography. Lois Greenfield, One of the legend Dance photographer from New York said “Doddy Obenk’s expressive black&white images of Balinese dancers, with streaks of light from long camera exposures, evoke the latent energy and intensity that underlies the “stillness” of Balinese dance.”

Cok Raka Sedana Cok Raka Sedana Born in the banjar Mukti in 1970, after have a good guidance from his teachers he started to work a mask in his Temple. He has produced many masks in the form of masks Barong, Rangda. Where the works is proposed for ritual and artwork.
