South Lake Hospital was recognized as a gold-level, breastfeeding, friendly employer by the Florida Breastfeeding Coalition, Inc. The hospital moved up from bronze to gold level thanks to the creation of a private pump room for nursing mothers who return to work. South Lake Hospital is Lake County’s only hospital to earn this distinction.

Dave Ramsey’s book “The Total Money Makeover” recently topped 5 million copies sold. Twelve years after its release, the book remains relevant as Americans look for a proven way to eliminate consumer debt. The book offers seven easy-to-follow steps to help people successfully manage their finances.
In addition to being an author, Dave provides financial advice as a radio host, television personality, and motivational speaker.

If you lost your vision, how would you eat from your plate? Use a cell phone? Walk around the house?
New Vision for Independence is answering these questions by conducting a 45-minute experimental tour of its services that help people of all ages overcome vision loss. Tours are offered on the second Tuesday of the month at noon inside the organization’s office, located at 9501 U.S. Hwy. 441 in Leesburg. Light refreshments provided. Upcoming tour dates are November 10 and December 8.

Bullying is serious, especially considering one study found almost half of suicides among young people are related to bullying. If your child displays one or more of these 10 warning signs, please intervene before the problem worsens.
1. Unexplained cuts, bruises, and scrapes.
2. Unexplained loss of toys, school supplies, clothing, and money.
3. Doesn’t want to go to school or participate in activities with peers.
4. Doesn’t want to ride the school bus.
5. Appears sad, moody, angry, anxious, or depressed.
6. Has nightmares and cries to sleep.
7. Experiences a significant drop in grades.
8. Always feels “not good enough.”
9. Begins bullying siblings or younger kids.
10. Becomes clingy and doesn’t like to be left alone.
