MANAGING DIABETES

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. For diabetics, it’s extremely important to effectively manage this complicated disease. Florida Hospital Waterman’s Diabetes Self-Management Support Group will meet November 4 and 18. Diabetics learn how to reduce complications through medication, nutrition, exercise, and blood sugar monitoring.

The class is 5-6p.m. inside the Conroy CREATION Health Center on the campus of Florida Hospital Waterman. For more information, call 352.253.3685.

THEY’VE GOT YOUR BACK

Three local chiropractors who are friends recently formed the Central Florida Chiropractic Alliance. They include Dr. Jonathan Wise of Wise Chiropractic in Mount Dora; Dr. Jeffrey Glover of Glover Chiropractic Clinic in Leesburg; and Dr. Joshua Olcott of Olcott Chiropractic and Wellness Center in Lady Lake. “Some people drive further than what is necessary to receive chiropractic care,” Dr. Glover said. “We can refer patients to one another, which reduces driving time and maximizes convenience. We all offer similar services, and we all believe in doing what is best for patients. In the future, we’d like to add other doctors that we can trust. It’s all about making the experience as pleasurable as possible for patients.”

According to the American Diabetes Association, approximately 208,000 Americans under age 20 have diabetes.
