LE SORGENTI DEL BRENTA
Urban atelier - IUAV Teaching Professor: Mauro Marzo 2013 - 14 Novaledo, Trento , Italy
In the past the tower was the access of to the ancient “via Claudia Augusta”. The museum’s volumetric surrounds the tower to create an intimate setting that protects the tower from the street by creating a space where visitors can admire the valley and the tower itself. The main goal is to maintain the area as it looks today by preserving the surrounding green space meant to become a sort of observatory of the valley. The green roof reduces energy consumption and becomes an architectural promenade that is connected to the existing foot paths. The walls of the museum are made of clay, marl and materials excavated on site, mixed in a formwork with lime.

RIVIERA DEI CEDRI Environmental sustainability atelier - IUAV Teaching professor: Benno Albrecht 2015 - 16 Orsomarso, Calabria, Italy The project is located in a valley in Calabria, a southern region of Italy. The area is famous for cedar plantations which find in the valley their ideal soil whose extreme fertility stems from the combination of the clay in the underground, the presence of the river and the climate. Traditionally, famers employ the reed to protect the cultivation of cedars from cold winds. These walls made out of reeds become the element to redraw the landscape. The structures can be turned into polyvalent spaces where farmers can take workshops and formative courses, greenhouses, or points of commercial exchange fostering the sale of typical products. The structure as far as the spaces are concerned, they are made of steel, white painted, in order to remind the density of the reeds. The case is made of polycarbonate and allow the visibility from outside with low costs of maintenance and the possibility of being replaced.

CONGRESS HOTEL
Heritage atelier - IUAV Teaching Professor: Alberto Cecchetto 2016 - 17 Isola della Certosa, Venezia, Italy
The first objective of the project is to reestablish the ancient entry of the monastic complex by creating a space between the cloister and the hall that allows the water to entry the hotel and the auditorium. All the rooms are located towards the venetian lagoon to guarantee its visibility and to have the maximum of natural illumination. Regarding the facade, the aim is to create a sort of metallic skin that can adapt the quantity of the light to guests’ necessity. On the top floor, there is the breakfast room where the lagoon becomes the main protagonist whose low walls are made of autochthonous plants typical of the lagoon itself.

LEARNING FROM MARGHERA City and landscape atelier - IUAV Teaching Professor: Renato Bocchi 2017-18 Porto Marghera, Venice, Italy
The intervention area runs along a traffic way that divides the garden city and the industrial area, two zones morphologically different. The project wants to highlight their difference by means of a new infrastructure. The aim is to connect the two sides through three projects of industrial reuse: the abandoned buildings are meant to become big signs of the street with punctual grafts. One of the main problems related to the new infrastructure is the water management. There is frequent flooding because of the impermeable ground that can’t filter in the rainwater. In order to solve this issue, the project aims at creating tubs of lamination that work like temporary basin. Then, to reduce the traffic “noise pollution”, we put inside a low vegetation and also autoctone trees to create a relationship between the residential houses and this space.

TOURIST CENTRE IN ARIANO IRPINO International Competition - MIDE Architects 2017 - 18 Ariano Irpino , Avellino , Italy
The project aims at inserting the new building by respecting the urban scale of the context, imposing itself the height of the buildings in the neighborhood , and giving space to a new square that is linked to the public square system of Ariano Irpino. The new school is composed by two main buildings: the first one is meant to host the laboratories where students can take classes, the second one is meant to host the administration offices. The West building will host the laboratories, the Est building will host the library, the exhibition room and the canteen including a terrace for public events. In the ground floor there is the gymnasium. The local materials such as tuff and porphyry are mixed with lime to create the concrete. In this way, the final result reminds the colors and the cultural tradition of the city.
