AMPLIFY

The streets of Mattanachery are rich with activities through out the year. The proposed interventions amplify the street life by designing activity zones that are comfortable and safe for all users of the street through times of a day.

INTEGRATE

The proposed intervention seeks to integrate various neighborhoods that are living along the Calvathy and Eraveli streets by bringing together the communities on the floors of the street for leisure, dining, and various economic activities

PROMOTE

The proposed interventions promotes the pedestrian activity by facilitating safe, accessible and shaded pathways for both cyclers and pedestrians. It helps improve walkability and promote tourism and other economic activities along the streets.

NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAY ZONE

CALVATHY

The play zone is strategically located in the street end providing good eyes on the street and protection from the water edge using taller fencing.

NEIGHBOURHOOD GARDEN

edges are characterized by community driven horticulture that involves cultivation of vegetable and flowers

HERITAGE ZONE

CALVATHY

A canal side dining facility is designed to create a unique dining experience in the edge of the canal. It creates economic opportunities for the adjacent communities by opening small food stalls in the zone.

SCHOOL ZONE

CALVATHY

A vibrant space mainly targeted and common public and students are created in front of the school. This area has well shaded seating areas and safe pedestrian paths.

DOCK

CALVATHY

A boat dock to facilitate boating activity is the canal is envisaged as a long term strategic project to promote tourism activities along the streets.

PLAZA

ERAVELI NORTH

• Plaza is located inside the neighborhood adjacent to the mosque providing shaded seating space with pleasing landscape for both pedestrians and local community to spent their leisure hours.

PUBLIC OUTDOOR GYM

ERAVELI NORTH

An outdoor gym with vandal proof gym equipment is provided along the canal side to encourage people to spent more time by the streets and give focus to their fitness.

CANAL SIDE SEATING

ERAVELI NORTH

A stretch of well landscaped corridor along the canal is designed to provide comfortable and safe seating for pedestrians, tourists and community for all times of the day.

WHISPERINGWISEMEN

ERAVELI SOUTH

Located nearby the mosque this gathering space is planned to act as a resting area for senior citizens visiting the mosque as well as a good place to discuss ideas

YOUTH ZONE

ERAVELI SOUTH

The corner space left unused in front of the youth club is demarcated exclusively as a space for youngers to gather and share their fun time.

• Demarcation of pedestrian path from the road - for all roads
