The slowest express train in the world – an amazing rail journey across the Swiss Alps linking the two famous resorts of St Moritz and Zermatt. Crossing 291 bridges and passing through 91 tunnels, the route winds through spectacular alpine scenery. Sit back and enjoy the view.

THE ESSENTIALS The full Glacier Express journey (7.5 hours) departs from St Moritz to Zermatt or vice versa. However from 2017, passengers can reserve seats on the train in shorter sections between St. Moritz-Chur-Andermatt-Brig-Zermatt, starting or stopping at any of these locations. Reservations are required in 1st and 2nd class carriages which offer brilliant views from the large panoramic windows. Choose from a lunch menu served at your seat (optional extra) or visit the panorama bar for snacks and drinks. Quirky souvenirs are available to buy as the trolley passes through the train – one of the famous tilting wine glasses is a favourite. The train even has its own post box on board! The Jungfrau Railway, a pioneering masterpiece among mountain railways, went into service in 1912. The cogwheel railway takes passengers from Kleine Scheidegg to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe, which at 3,454 metres is Europe’s highestaltitude railway station in a world of rock, ice and snow.

THE ESSENTIALS The Jungfraujoch is a full day excursion, taking 2hrs 30mins from Interlaken. This operates daily every 30/60 minutes. We recommend planning a round trip (Interlaken Ost - Lauterbrunnen - Wengen - Jungfraujoch. Jungfraujoch - Grindelwald - Interlaken Ost). The Golden Pass Line runs along six lakes and links timeless tradition in German-speaking Central Switzerland with French-style flair on Lake Geneva. All in one day. The Golden Pass train travels from Zweisimmen to Montreux or vice versa. What it lacks in speed, this “express” makes up for with the most varied travel experience imaginable. The journey begins in Lugano, the sun-kissed southern side of the Alps. From there a panoramic train winds its way from 470 to 1100 metres above sea level, passing through the 15-kilometre nineteenth-century Gotthard Tunnel. Upon arrival at Flüelen the mode of transport changes – glide along Lake Lucerne, passing picturesque countryside and shores on board an historic steamer. Lunch can be purchased on board. As Lucerne’s quayside approaches in the distance, spot the famous mountains of Rigi, Titlis, and Pilatus. This journey can also be booked in reverse.

STANSERHORN The panoramic mountain is just a short 20m train ride away from Lucerne. For the first section you take a vintage railway dating from 1830 and then - an extreme contrast - the world’s first open top cable car “CabriO”. FLIGHT LUGGAGE Check-in your luggage with any airline, from any airport via Zürich or Geneva airports and it will be automatically forwarded to the railway station of 30 participating destinations, arriving the next day. For the return journey the luggage must be checked in the previous evening and direct connection is only available for flights with Swiss and Edelweiss Air – you also receive your boarding pass in advance. For all other airlines luggage needs to be collected at the airport station counter before proceeding with the check-in.

EXPRESS LUGGAGE Transfers your luggage from one destination to the other within Switzerland. This service is available between 30+ selected railway stations. Delivery the same day.

FLIGHT LUGGAGE EXPRESS The Express Service ensures that your luggage is transported faster to your destination and can be collected the same day at the 30 participating railway stations. FLIGHT LUGGAGE – Door-to-Door This service transfers your luggage directly from the airport to your hotel. (Only hotels located at the 30 participating destinations). Luggage delivery the next day.
