Overview of Friends of Oleta State River Park old Logo

The Friends of Oleta River State Park Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit citizen support organization (CSO) that sponsors events, raises funds, and advances the goals of Oleta River State Park. Oleta River State Park is one of 171 State Parks in Florida, a park system that welcomes over 25 million people yearly and also has uniquely won the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence three times. As a park system of over 800.000 acres under management, State funding often falls short. The Friends of Oleta River State Park is the official and only CSO working steadfastly to bring in funding dollars - which always are guaranteed to go directly to Oleta for improvements and enhancements. We actively lead events and initiatives to bolster community involvement - individual and corporate - through volunteering and the investment of time and money, in order to assure the best protection and conservation of our Park’s natural resources. At 1,032 acres, Oleta River State Park is Florida’s largest urban park. Located on Biscayne Bay in Northeast Miami-Dade County, the Park’s most prominent natural feature is the Oleta River, for which the park is named. Today, the Oleta River no longer feeds into the Everglades but its beauty and splendor lives on. Water birds feed along the mangrove-lined shoreline and the endangered West Indian Manatee finds refuge from South Florida’s crowded waterways. The mangrove forests provide vital nurseries for aquatic life and filter urban pollutants from the coastal waters. Oleta protects many vital ecosystems, each greatly enhancing, assisting, and protecting all of our neighbors by land and sea.

New Logo Design While staying true to it’s central values, we wanted to breathe some life into the visual presence of the brand. Encapsulating the long history of the brand was especially important, and we communicated this through clean and balanced design. The two waves representing the Oleta River. The sun is split in half to show the sun setting. The two birds are there to represent the plethora of bird life the resides in the state park.
