The Knights of Pythias Alamogordo Chapter Circa 1899 - 1980
Almost from the inception of the town of Alamogordo, The Knights of Pythias played a pivotal role in the molding of what the community was to become. The following is a short history of who the “Pythians” were.
among men of good will as the surest means of attaining Universal Peace. They believed that men, meeting in a spirit of goodwill, in an honest effort of understanding, can live together on this earth in peace and harmony.
The Knights of Pythias built its lessons and rituals largely on the story of the friendship of Damon and Pythias, who were historical characters living about four hundred years before the beginning of the Christian era. They were members of a school, founded by Pythagoras, who was known as the father of Greek philosophy.
The Order began during the Civil War, and its founder believed that it might do much to heal the wounds and allay the hatred of civil conflict. President Abraham Lincoln said:
Damon had opposed the pretensions of the king of Syracuse, who had gained the throne by fraud, and as a result he was condemned to death. Pythias became a hostage for Damon, while the latter was permitted his liberty to bid his wife and child goodbye. Each was willing to die to save the other's life. Their Knights of Pythias Alamogord Lodge 22 circa 1914 loyalty to each other, the adventures that beset them, and the outcome of this noble friendship, form the basis for "The purposes of your organization are most one of the most beautiful stories of history, wonderful. PICES MARCH HOROSCOPE 2016
An active March in term of emotions but not very boring either when it comes to you acting on your ideas. Courageous or just scared of missing out you will try a lot of new things but not really come up with a conclusion on what you liked and what you disliked. This is not a time of decisions but more like a trial period in which you are building up your taste.
AIRES MARCH HOROSCOPE 2016
March has some changes in store for you, especially in regards to how you view your relationship, and, who knows, maybe also about how your partner views you. The most difficult part though is the fact that you won’t really be able to control this, no matter how involved you are and no matter how emotional you become. Alamodoso Connections

Lost Treasure of White Sands "Seven is the holy number," the passage begins. It then continues for several lines before ending with a cryptic message: "In seven languages, seven signs, and languages in seven foreign nations, look for the Seven Cities of Gold. Seventy miles north of El Paso del Norte in the seventh peak, Soledad, these cities have seven sealed doors, three sealed toward the rising of the Sol sun, three sealed toward the setting of the Sol sun, one deep within Casa del Cueva de Oro, at high noon. Golden Secrets Con’t Hembrillo Basin as his stronghold. Knowing how much the white man valued gold and having little use for it himself, he amassed huge amounts of the yellow mineral any way he could get it and hid it from the Whites. Another theory is that the treasure belonged to a Catholic missionary named Felipe La Rue, or La Ruz On one side of the peak, they located a rich vein, ultimately working the mine for years. They tunneled into the mountain and followed the vein downward. The deeper they went, the richer the ore became. The little priest Con’t Page 17

Golden Secrets Con’t assigned dozens of monks and Indians to mine the gold, form it into ingots and, except for whatever was needed for supplies, stack it along one wall of a natural cavern inside the mountain. When the soldiers arrived demanding to know where the gold came from which was used to purchase the supplies in La Mesilla, Padre La Rue refused to answer. He died under torture, as did many of his followers, and although the soldiers looked all over for evidence of a mine, they were forced to return to Mexico City with nothing to show for their long journey. The Lost Padre Mine, as it has been called ever since, went into the history pages as a beloved legend.
