Safety Protocols LARGE-SCALE EMERGENCY In the event of a fire, debilitating earthquake, or other large-scale emergency, all attendees are to report to the Family Center. If the Family Center is unsafe, all attendees should report to the large lawn area. Attendees should NOT attempt to get in their cars to leave, or return to their cabins. Advisors will report to the District Administrator and Director of SLP Programs for instructions, who will be consulting with the camp staff. Advisors will then direct the students as appropriate for an evacuation or other safety measures.
PERSONAL EMERGENCY In the event of a personal emergency, attendees are requested to report to the nearest Sergeant-at-Arms or Advisor. The SAA or Advisor should stay with the attendee in distress, and direct another attendee to advise the District Administrator or Director of SLP Programs, whoever is closer. An advisor, rather than a student, should transport anyone needing to go to the emergency room. Each advisor will be given a copy of the map to the nearest emergency room, so that someone who needs medical assistance can be taken there immediately if necessary. Before departing, if at all possible, the District Administrator or Director of SLP Programs should be advised of the situation.

District Fundraising Initiatives Kiwanis Family House The Kiwanis Family House is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the families of patients at the UC Davis Medical Center or Shriners Hospital. The KFH is a home-away-from-home for families who must travel over 35 miles from home to seek medical treatment. Finding low-cost lodging near the hospitals can be important to these families especially if the patient has a life-threatening injury or illness and if the treatment period lasts for an extended time. The KFH offers inexpensive accommodations for families with individual bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, bathrooms, food and clothes closets, laundry, and hook-ups for recreational vehicles and a free shuttle to the hospitals.
Pediatric Trauma Program The Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation established the Pediatric Trauma Program in 1994 to address Pediatric Trauma as the leading reason of death amongst children 14 and under. The Pediatric Trauma Program is funded solely by contributions from Kiwanis & Service Leadership Programs. The CNH Foundation takes a holistic approach to prevent pediatric trauma by providing community outreach, education, and safety materials to children and families living in the communities we share; by providing grants to the Kiwanis Family to assist them in their efforts to reduce trauma and death; by improving the outcomes for children who experience pediatric trauma by providing grants to our partner hospitals.
UNICEF UNICEF has been actively working to develop a world in which every child has a fair chance at life. From its conception back in 1946, UNICEF has evolved from providing clothing and healthcare to children affected by World War II, to promoting to deliver clean water to developing nations around the world. UNICEF takes on a variety of different projects and campaigns, many of which benefit children worldwide.

District Service Initiative:
Serve to Conserve As our world is constantly changing and evolving to meet the needs of our society today, our consumption and carbon footprint levels have increased dramatically in recent years. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, in the last 50 years, humans have consumed more then ever before in history. This includes everything ranging from water and fossil fuels, to a wide variety of natural resources. An accumulation of this increased human activity has led to global warming and climate change, which have caused a cascading effect on various parts of the world. Wildlife species’ environments have been affected, pollution has worsened, our natural resources are depleting. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide have been building up in the atmosphere and will not be able to be eliminated for several decades. This has resulted in glaciers melting quickly and higher sea levels throughout the world in various countries. Although our negative impact on the environment has increased with time, we also have the power to make a difference for the better. Some of the simple actions that we do every day can be easily modified. For example, using compact fluorescent light bulbs consumes significantly less energy and will last longer. Changing up your method of transportation to walking, biking, or even carpooling can make a massive difference as well. Purchasing energy efficient supplies maximizes energy usage, and also reduces waste. Together as a District, Circle K members throughout CNH have the ability to collaborate and make a difference in our local communities. By spreading awareness and education, we can empower our peers and also the next generation to continue a forward thinking and work towards a more eco-friendly future.
