DAY 2 • Palermo, Sicily

Arrive in Palermo, where we’ll meet our Trip Experience Leader and fellow travelers, including those who took our Florence & Lucca, Italy pre-trip extension.

DAY 3 • Palermo

Discover Palermo on an included tour with a local guide this morning. As we explore, you’ll see some of the city’s most impressive highlights, including the medieval Duomo of Palermo. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 4 • Palermo • Optional Castelbuono tour

Enjoy a full day of independent exploration in Palermo. Or, you may wish to join our optional excursion to the small hilltop village of Castelbuono, which boasts centuries of rich history and a charming medieval town center.

DAY 5 • Arab-Norman Palermo & Monreale Cathedral • Embark ship

Today, travel to the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as Arab-Norman Palermo to witness the splendor of Monreale Cathedral. During our visit, we’ll see the Byzantine Monreale Cathedral. This afternoon, transfer to the dock where we’ll embark our small ship.

DAY 6 • Trapani • Museo de Sale • Home-Hosted Lunch

This morning, head to the province of Trapani and the Museo del Sale, a semi-working salt museum. First, take a short discovery walk of Trapani. Then, at the museum, view the 17th-century mill and learn how the region has been shaped by the age-old Trapani tradition of salt production and refining. Later, join a local Sicilian family for a Home-Hosted Lunch.

DAY 7 • Mazara del Vallo • Tunisian Kasbah

After lunch, disembark to explore the UNESCO-protected city of Mazara del Vallo, including a walking tour of the city’s historic Kasbah quarter. Next, we’ll stop to visit the Museum of the Dancing Satyr, home to a mysterious Greek bronze statue with a noteworthy past.

Marsala, Sicily

DAY 8 • Mazara del Vallo • Optional Marsala tour

Enjoy a full day of independent discoveries in Mazara del Vallo. Or, join an optional excursion to Marsala. Located in the westernmost point of Sicily, Marsala is most known for its sweet amber wine, but it is also an elegant seaside town with a historic Baroque city center.

DAY 9 • Agrigento Archeological Site • Cooking class with Italian chef

Step off the ship today and transfer to the UNESCO-protected site of the Valley of Temples, situated just outside the city of Agrigento. We’ll set off by foot with a local guide to explore the archaeological remains of the Greek temples, each built between 510 and 430 BC. Later, gather onboard for a cooking lesson with a local Italian chef.

DAY 10 • A Day in the Life of the Val Di Noto

Head to the countryside for our A Day in the Life experience in the Val di Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we’ll visit a local family’s farm. Join in the morning’s activities, then help with the preparation of the midday meal which we’ll share with the family.

DAY 11 • Pozzallo • Optional Baroque Heritage of Sicily tour

Today is free to spend exploring Pozzallo at your leisure. Or, join a full-day optional tour, the Baroque Heritage of Sicily. The day

begins with a visit to the Ragusa Ibla (Ancient Ragusa), where we’ll tour the Church of Saint George. Then, explore the city of Modica, where we’ll sample local chocolates.

DAY 12 • Explore Siracusa

Discover Siracusa today with a local guide. We’ll set off on a discovery walk of Ortigia, a small island packed with history. Highlights include the fountain of Arethusa, the Temple of Apollo, and the Piazza del Duomo, the pedestrian square that serves as the heart of Ortigia.

DAY 13 • Mount Etna hike

Visit magnificent Mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano. We’ll hike up to view the Sartorius Craters—a vantage point that offers views of the sea, pine woods, and ancient craters in the valley below. Later, take part in an exclusive discussion with a local vulcanologist.

14 • Disembark ship •

Taormina • Aci Castello

Bid our ship arrivederci today, then drive to explore hillside Taormina. Visit its famous amphitheater and take in the commanding view. Moving on, we’ll explore Taormina’s more contemporary delights: winding streets lined by pastel-hued buildings, many accented by wrought-iron balconies.

DAY 15 • Catania • World War II Museum

This morning, visit Catania’s World War II Museum. Then, set off to explore Sicily’s second-largest city with a local guide. A UNESCO-protected landmark, Catania features a rich blend of Norman and Baroque architecture. Our Trip Experience Leader will also guide us on a tour of one of Catania’s bustling outdoor markets.

DAY 16 • Return to U.S. or begin your post-trip extension
