PET ADOPTION

Benjamin, Kennedy and Hamilton are male labrador, pittie, boxer mix puppies. These boys were born in the shelter, are now 13 weeks old and they need homes!!! They are sweet, well mannered puppies and the owners of their litter mates say they are smart and easy to train. Because we have many volunteers who care for our pups these guys are very well socialized. These puppies are vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and are so excited to join their new family!

This is Oliver! He is a really lovable, hunky guy looking for someone to cuddle and explore with. Oliver loves to sunbathe year round, chase critters, and roll in the snow. Even though he is a little awkward sometimes, it turns out this is one of his best qualities. Oliver would just love a companion to cuddle on a couch with after some adventures. His favorite thing is affection though. Oliver loves other dogs and will play all day long if he has the opportunity. Please email ohbedogfulrescue@gmail.com if you would like to set up a meeting with this all around amazing fellow!

Senior Spotlight

Endo was born on March 8, 2012, in Castle Rock, CO. Endo, a dirt biking term meaning to flip over end-to-end, comes from her being butt-heavy as a puppy and flipping end-over-end, chasing a soccer ball down the hill in our backyard! Endo moved to Crested Butte with her family in 2019 and has never regretted leaving Denver. Her best days include trying to catch fish in her ponds and running around exploring her properties. During the day, she loves to hang out on the side of the barn in the tall grass while keeping her dad company. In the evenings, Endo loves to oversee ranch operations from her deck above the river – sunsets are her favorite! When not outside she can be found curled up in the corner of the couch, snoring with one ear in the air! Her favorites include her boy, Brock; her very first best friend Mindy Constanzo; and her best dog buddy Francie!

ELECTION BALLOTS ARE ARRIVING IN MAILBOXES: The issues are many, the ballots huge, so the League of Women Voters is hosting a forum to discuss and explain all 14 issues, Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m, in the high school auditorium, 800 W Ohio Avenue. LWV State Executive Director Beth Hendrix and local LWV member Thalia Oster will lead the session, and Gunnison Library Director Drew Brookhart will explain the proposed bond issue to build a library in Crested Butte South. A second forum takes place Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 12:30 p.m., in the University Center at Western Colorado University, also sponsored by the League of Women Voters.

ATTENTION CITIZENS AND WESTERN STUDENTS REGARDING ANIMALS ATLARGE: No person shall allow any animal to run at-large within the city limits and on the Western campus. THE GUNNISON POLICE DEPARTMENT has received reports recently of an employment scam. An individual has been contacting local cleaning companies and requesting their services. The caller will schedule a future date to have their residence cleaned and then send a check for payment. The check will be for an amount larger than the cleaning company requested for their services. The caller will ask the cleaning company to forward the extra amount to individuals the caller owes money to through electronic apps like Venmo, Zell, and Cash app. After the extra money has been forwarded to others, the caller will terminate the scheduled home cleaning and request their money back through the same electronic money exchange application. The check deposited by the cleaning company will eventually be identified as fraudulent / a forgery by the bank, and the cleaning company will have had the amount of the check stolen from them. Do not fall victim to this scam. Receiving a check for more than was agreed upon with the request to forward the money to others is a common theft technique used by scammers. There have also been reports of people receiving email messages threatening to provide embarrassing and intimate

photos of the individuals to their family and friends if they do not provide the scammer with $2,000 in bitcoin. These email messages can be very believable because they often contain specific personal information about the individual receiving the threatening email message, to include their address and a Google earth photo of their residence. This is a scam. Do not fall victim to blackmail demands for money.

If you have been a victim of these scams or have questions, please contact the Gunnison Police Department (970)641-8201.

Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes.
