World Kindness Day

World Kindness Day is an international holiday that was formed in 1998, to promote kindness throughout the world and is observed annually on November 13 as part of the World Kindness Movement. It is observed in many countries including the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia and the U.A.E. World Kindness Day presents us with the opportunity to reflect upon one of the most important and unifying human principles. On a day devoted to the positive potential of both large and small acts of kindness, try to promote and diffuse this crucial quality that brings people of every kind together.

World Kindness Day Activities

• Perform at least three random acts of kindness today •

Give compliments. Smile at strangers. Hold a door open. Give up your seat on a crowded train. Perform at least three random acts of kindness and see what magic follows!

• Give extra (and extra-long) hugs today •

Kindness and connection go hand-in-hand. Take a few extra minutes to hug your loved ones and friends today. They might wonder what got into you, but they’ll appreciate it nonetheless!

• Write a love poem to yourself and read it out loud •

You should be kind to yourself, today, too. Write a short (or long) poem highlighting the things you appreciate about yourself and your life.

SUDOKU

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

PET ADOPTION

Our handsome boys, Benjamin and Hamilton are male labrador, pittie, boxer mix puppies. These boys were born in the shelter, are now 16 weeks old and they need homes!!! They are sweet, well mannered puppies and the owners of their litter mates say they are smart and easy to train. Because we have many volunteers who care for our pups these guys are very well socialized. These puppies are vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and are so excited to join their new family!

Studley is a ready-made boy who is oh so eager to join his new family! He is 8-9 years old super senior who has plenty of energy and spirit in him. He walks very nicely on leash. Studley is a happy, sweet boy who loves attention from humans of all ages. Unfortunately his previous owner says he does not get along well with other dogs or cats. This guy truly deserves a new family to live out his golden years!

Senior Spotlight

Sir Fredrick was born one evening in August, 2012, on our couch with his 3 siblings. We never thought about having an animal until that night when their mother (our neighbor’s cat, Moxy) decided our couch was to be the spot. We instantly knew we wanted to keep one, and Fred was a definite because when he came out, he crawled right over to Chris. Love at first squeak. For ten wonderful years Fred got to live with his cat brother, Fuzzy, as well. Some of Fred’s favorite pastimes include napping in the sunshine, hunting mice, rolling around, full body massages, eating, and being King of the Castle. We are so thankful to still have Fred; he is the most snuggly, spoiled, playful, wonderful, precious cat I have ever known, and he has our hearts completely. We are so grateful for that fateful night on the couch and hope to share life with him for many more years to come.
