Historians know that people found ways to have thrilling, high-speed rides long before the invention of the roller coaster. But the thing that people rode was not originally designed for playing around. It was designed to help people do hard, dangerous work.

Oh no! The end of this

One of these early thrill rides was “Gravity Road” in the mountains of Pennsylvania. It was really mining carts designed to deliver coal from the mines down a steep mountainside to boats in a canal.

SUDOKU

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

PET ADOPTION

Ronnie is just over a year old and came to us last summer! He is great with other dogs but he does like to play “ruff”. He loves his people however, he does lack some manners. Ronnie needs a home with some patience for training and tons of activities! Being a Border Collie mix he’s very smart and learns quickly. He also has LOTS of energy to burn! Ronnie is crate trained, potty trained, neutered, and up to date on all his vaccines! All he’s missing is a family to spoil him rotten and teach him the ropes.

Jazzmine is a pittie mix who is accepting applications but is not yet ready to be adopted as she still needs to be spayed. She is a 3 1/2 years old, sweet, friendly girl who loves children.

Cedes is an incredibly sweet, quiet 7-year-old girl who is fully vetted and loves children. She comes from a home with another dog.

Senior Spotlight

Meet our ‘ol man Ace Of Spades. He was my daughter’s and husband’s “grocery” shopping surprise June 2006 at 8 weeks old. Ace is the last surviving kitty that came from the Norberg family’s litter born April 2006. At the age of 18 years, he is still pretty active; demanding his meals twice a day and swatting the younger kitties reminding them - he’s still King. He spends most of his day lounging around his sunroom amongst various pet friendly flowering plants and enjoying his pension; gazing out the window watching the flocks of birds, dreaming of his younger glory days when he was a whopping 18 lbs of muscle, as the mighty hunter leaving his trophies at the front door for us. Ace is very unique with the longest canines on a cat seen by most vets! They all would comment; “He’s a black panther!” His favorite food is a can of tuna “With the juice please” he commands. Now, in his golden years, he enjoys sitting on my lap having his chin continuously rubbed, while he drools and looks sheepishly up at me.
