PET ADOPTION

Petey is a true treasure to us but he needs to find his forever home. He is dog friendly with the proper introductions, and loves a good wrestle match. He LOVES his people and is sweet with kiddos. Petey knows he’s good looking so he loves to get attention! Don’t let his size fool you. This little man has a BIG personality that you’re guaranteed to fall in love with! Petey is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, and in great health! Petey still needs some work on house training but we believe with a structured routine he’ll pick it up fast. This guy is real big on exploring and truly has a mind of his own. He needs to live in a secure home as he frequently likes to channel his inner Houdini and perform escape tricks. As sweet as he is, he is still a young man. He needs lots of exercise to keep those muscle buns in shape! If Petey has stolen your heart please reach out to ohbedogfulrescue@gmail.com

Beautiful Bryn is a 3 years old, female brindle mixed breed. She first came to the shelter as a 1 year old stray so we don’t have much background on Bryn. Originally she was terrified of everything and everyone, but she was adopted and her new owners gave her all the love she needed to start trusting humans. She has come a long way in two years and would love to share a new forever home with you! Bryn has already bonded with our shelter manager and is sweet and affectionate with her. Bryn is by nature a deeply shy lady but once she trusts you she will give you all her affection. She is such a gentle girl, there is not a mean bone in her body! If you are looking for a sweet, attentive companion Bryn may be your girl!

Senior Spotlight

Born in August 2011 on the streets of Salida, Graham Cracker found his way to our family through Mountain Mutts in Gunnison. Graham’s excitement for adventure has made us smile since he was a pup. Camping, biking, hiking, car rides and horseback rides were his passions. His keen sense of adventure earned him the nickname “Detective,” as he diligently ensured his family stayed safe, inspecting everything and making sure everyone was accounted for and chipmunks knew their place. In 2017, Graham moved to a ranch with his family and sidekick, Sage (The Cat). Ranching took a toll on his body, and Graham underwent two knee surgeries, but he didn’t let that hold him back. He continued his ranching and detective work with enthusiasm. To keep him young, he was soon assigned a young pup named Max S’mores to mentor. Graham has taught Max everything from detective work and proper trail ride etiquette to keeping the family safe at the ranch. Some of Graham Cracker’s favorite things in life are: meat bones, watching sunsets from the picnic table, long walks, barking at the horses to behave, playing with Max S’mores and snuggling with his best friend, Sage the cat. Graham makes our lives better and filled with happiness.

THE HISTORY OF WORLD LIZARD DAY

Like many odd holidays, the origins of World Lizard Day are unclear. Don’t let its murky beginnings dissuade you from celebrating this wholesome day though. The species is dying out worldwide due to ignorance and lack of attention. The day may be about lizards, but we can’t pass up on the opportunity to tell you more about reptiles in general. It’s the spirit of the day after all!

All reptiles are air-breathing vertebrates covered in scales, plates of bone, or a combination of both. Species of this family include snakes, liz -

ards, crocodiles, and tortoises. All of these shed their skin and depend on the environment to regulate their body temperatures. This dependence on outside factors when it comes to regulating their core body temperatures means that reptiles have to find sun and shade in order to warm up or cool down. In areas that have colder winters, reptiles generally experience a period of inactivity until the weather grows warmer again. Lizards are no different, which is why you see them sunning themselves in your warm

garden or on the bricks that soak up the sun throughout the day. For pet lizards, staying warm or cool is a different matter entirely. People who own lizards as pets need to heat their tanks with heating lamps or pads without overheating the space. In fact, preparing and maintaining a tank for a lizard or any reptile requires a great deal of initial and continuous effort. Each subspecies of reptile has specific needs and preferences. It’s recommended that aspiring and even current reptile owners do research on exactly what their pet needs to

be happy and healthy. Doing research before you buy or adopt a pet lizard will help you to figure out what kind of lizard would suit you and your budget constraints. This before you buy stage is crucial in ensuring that you make the right choice when it comes to being a pet owner.

SUDOKU

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

*Please note, this bus will NOT be stopping at Jorgenson Park AM or PM.

At this time, we no longer have the ability to offer the following routes: Mustang (Rec. Center, Tenderfoot, Jorgensen Park) bus, Bus #2 Almont/Cranor Hill, Bus #6 Gold Basin, Bus #7 Antelope Hills, and the Sapinero/ Arrowhead mini bus. In order to prevent bus overcrowding we will be prioritizing young students (all lake school students through elementary) and those who live far away from school. Please plan ahead, middle schoolers and high schoolers who live near school or an RTA bus route will be asked to give up their seats or will not be able to board the school bus if it is already at capacity.
