Amun Ini Beach Resort – Anda, Bohol in The Philippines Make no mistake – this is a superb dive resort and we are very lucky to be going to Amun Ini, nestled on a gorgeous white sand beach in the Anda region of Bohol. I first inquired about Amun Ini a few years back but opted for the wonderful Atmosphere Resort (Dumaguete) as Amun Ini was simply too expensive (it is after all a luxury dive resort). But after our wonderful trip to Pura Vida, Cabilao last July, Bigs did some magic and we’ve ended up with a very affordable package. And for those of us who experienced the superb hospitality of Bigs and her crew at Cabilao, we can expect more of the same at Amun Ini. More diving with a smile! I am confident that, once again, we will have a fabulous time! Amun Ini is set on a 30,000 square meter property in the municipality of Anda, Bohol province in the Philippines. The resort is built to provide a breathtaking view of a crystal clear blue sea and white sand private beach. The waters around Amun Ini boasts of a 15 kilometer long coral reef, offering endless attractions for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts. And it is easy to access – two flights (Melb – Manila/ Manila-Taglibaran) and a two hour bus trip and we’re there – nothing like July 2017’s epic 23 hour journey! The beach resort services offered at Amun Ini are designed to make sure your stay will be a truly memorable one. There are a total of 16 spacious rooms, all with a pebble floored porch and a view of the Bohol sea. Every room has a flat screen TV, cable and internet service, mini-bar and a bathroom with modern fixtures and a pocket garden. Firm mattresses and oversized fluffy pillows guarantee you a good night’s rest for every night you spend at Amun Ini. A private white sand beach stretches almost 300 meters from end to end so there’s more than enough sand and sun for all. You can go snorkeling or diving in the house reef directly in front of our cove. Or simply relax in a hammock sipping a drink made from coconuts harvested from the trees right on the beach. The unexpected treat for most guests is the terrific food served in the restaurant. Using mostly locally obtained ingredients, Amun Ini’s chefs have created a menu that pleases both the palate as well as the eyes. Your culinary experience at Amun Ini will be a memorable complement to your total Amun Ini experience. There is also a spa where you can get a stress relieving massage and a superb infinity pool where you can do laps. The rural environment is great for those preferring mountain biking, jogging or simply soaking in the local colour in a relaxing nature walk. Amun Ini’s staff can also arrange for you to see any of Bohol’s tourist attractions that may interest you.

Flights and transfers: Couldn’t be much simpler – nothing like July 2017’s epic 23 hour journey to Cabilao! This will simply be two flights and a bus trip. We fly Melbourne – Manilla direct (Air Philippines) over night at the Dusit Thani (Bigs {Manager} is taking us out for a nice dinner) and then have a 1 hour flight followed by a 2 hour bus trip to Amuni Ini. And for those of us with bad memories about Air Philippines, as of June 2017 they upgraded their entire Australia fleet to similar seating configurations to Singapore Airlines (18 inch width; 32 inch pitch – 4 way headrest), wide armrests, and 25 cm individual touch-screens with full entertainment options.
Skirted by a 15 kilometer long coral reef a couple of hundred meters away, the seas around Amun Ini offer the best dive sites in Bohol today. There are spectacular walls nearby that plunge straight down to the dark blue depths. Whether you go for wreck diving, deep dives, or simply like to explore our house reef and ogle its rich abundant life, we have it for you. The main Anda Dive Sites consist of a 13km wall starting in Guindulman and ending opposite the pristeen White Sand Beaches of the town of Anda. The wall is broken in several places by sandy interludes, large crevices formed by volcanic activity long ago and small caves. The largest being Snappers Cave a cave with several chambers large enough to swim inside with a torch. The deepest sections of the wall are 30m where large pelagic fish can be seen swimming following the direction of the wall. Large whip corals, Pygmy Sea Horses, Scorpion Fish and numerous Frogfish can be found hiding on the wall from 20m-10m. The top of the wall varies from 5-8m where the true beauty of the diving in Anda can be found, pristeen soft coral gardens, near perfect visibility and luke warm water make diving suitable for a range of abilities. The best section of wall is without doubt Paradise Gardens where a colony of Turtles can be found in residence, feeding on Sea Grass on a small rocky outcrop opposite the Dive Centre at Blue Star. The snorkelling in these soft Coral gardens between the shore and the top of the wall are truly world class.

Divers describe its wall as fantastically populated with marine life. Underwater photographers find inspiration taking pictures of the unique coral landscape, schools of big fish, and overall serene marine vista that can be beautifully captured with a wide-angle lens. Paradise Garden is best enjoyed with a 2-hour shallow dive, guided by professional divers.
Neptune House –actual boat ride takes about 10 minutes, a distance of 2.5 kilometers from boarding. This is not recommended for beginner divers. Amun Ini’s professional divers will guide guests on the first dive. There is a maximum of four guest divers per guide for utmost safety. At 31 meters, an entry can be found into the cave, a steep wall with less corals than other spots. Divers are allowed a maximum of 8-10 minutes inside the cave. Neptune House is an ideal place among dive sites in Bohol to spot lobsters, schools of fish, and other night active sea animals. If you’re lucky, you might even see blue-spotted stingrays! Virgin South House Reef— The resort’s banca can bring guest divers into this reef in as little as two minutes. Turtles, schools of fish, and a coral reef await experienced divers. Beginners are advised to keep track of currents to avoid difficulty during their dive. Wonder Wall— The main attraction of Wonder Wall is a small wreck and a fresh water source 27 meters from diving point. It’s accessible via a 25 minute and 6 kilometer boat ride, and also has a nice steep wall and natural grottos in its depths. It’s suitable for beginner divers, current-permitting. It can be reached via a 29-minute, 7.5 kilometer boat ride. Panorama is so named because of its steep wall that stretches as wide as 30 meters, which gives a dramatic and panoramic view of the open water. Coco White South— A relatively simple dive site in Bohol with 20-minute proximity from dock, Coco White South boasts of an adequately populated steep wall that can be appreciated even by beginners.
