Learn how to use natural dyes for textile dyeing, including printing with freshly-gathered leaves. You will learn how to prepare and mordant plant vs animal fibers, and prepare several different dye baths. Participants will take home samples and create an eco-printed silk scarf. Registration is required. Limited to adults and teens (Middle School and up; parents need to sign waiver if not attending). WASILLA Miles for Meals on Wheels 5K

5K Fun Run, Walk, & Roll. This is our biggest fundraiser event of the year, and all proceeds will help fund our Meals on Wheels Program. Fresh, delicious meals are delivered several times each week to homebound seniors. This program helps ensure that no senior goes hungry, and helps older Alaskans to remain in their own home and living indepently for as long as possible. Last year we provided over 80,000 meals to Mat-su seniors. Check in will start at 10 a.m. We will provide a free reusable bag with lots of goodies from our sponsors. We’ll start the race at 10:45 for racers on wheels, and on foot at 11 a.m. In addition, we’ll have lots of prizes from our sponsors. Participants who collect total sponsorships of $100 or more are eligible for even cooler prizes, including 25,000 Alaska Airline miles drawing. There will be parking available at the Summit Worship Center on Riley Ave. near the center, and we’ll have a bus shuttle available for your convenience. The race will start at the GAZEBO.
