Hi! I’m Alba Herrera a graphic and product designer. Prompt, reliable, organized and creative. Currently in fourth year of degree and expectant to gain a good understanding about working in a placement in a related field. With lots of differents interests in this field, I like to give a lot of importance to the design process, it’s the best time to experiment and enjoy. I don’t like to set limits and I always try to go further. If I had to choose from all the sectors in design, I mostly really enjoy Packaging and Branding.

BAUHAUS BOTTLE packaging design 2019 The legendary Bauhaus design school celebrated its 100th birthday. On the occasion of this celebration we were offered to design a commemorative bottle that would reflect the values of the school. In collaboration of Elsenham, an iconic water bottle brand, the design of the bottle has been inspired by the typography inherited from Herbert Bayer, who references from the Bauhaus ideals of craftmanship expression and free spirit. The bottle integrates the new classic values of the school and gives priority to the form.

The products, as a collector and artisan piece, has been chosen to be made out of glass, and the caps from PLA. The decision was to integrate only two colours, in order to highlight the characteristics of the material itself, these two being black for the typeface and dark blue for the cap. This makes the integration of the brand and the object clear and interesting, as well as the values of unity and simplicity.

Sainsbury’s delivery was to produce a sub-brand of four related products. The chosen category was vegan dairy, which implicates values such as no animal sourced ingredients, being respectful towards the enviroment or strong carbon neutral connotations regarding materials. Thus Fairmount, founded in 1939 in England, was born. The Fairmount family produces all its products locally and uses a return system for its packaging, which is made of recyclable materials such as glass or compostable paper. The labels of the components are also biodegradable.

Fairmount


The labels have a 5-sided structure, in which the first side, being the most important, contains the logo, the illustration of the flavor of the product and its main description. The second side shows the benefits of the product and the third side describes that the product is returnable. On the fourth side are the nutrition facts and finally we have the mandatory food seals and a “secret recipe” seal. It was decided to use vibrant and overall “natural” colours to stand out from competitors. The labels contain hand-made illustrations to help the user understand the story behind the products.

WATASHI packaging design branding naming art direction photography 2020 Use the stamps, the clothes and tools to create your own, unique, unmistakable design! Stamping game for kids under the image brand of MUJI. Inspired by the teaching system value of Montessori y Waldorf. This kit helps the kid develop their intellectual, artistic and practical skills without much intervention of any external person. The stamps have been inspired by traditional Japanese cultural symbols, they’re included with the purpose of creating any scenery imaginable. Watashi is a stamping game that has been designed with the intention of letting the imagination of the user go wild, it’s been based in the idea of two education philosophers that assured children develop more when the stimuli that they have are all abstract. It has also been included in the theme the topic of nonbinary games as a main concept and target to fight against the actual system of imposing a gender to a specific game. So as key points to design the game it has been taken into consideration the gender neutrality of the toy and sustainability.

The final product is a kit that includes everything necessary for fabric stamping. The idea is for this kit to be able to be used in any kind of clothing but if not we include two shirts to be painted and stamped on. The product appearance overall is very simple and minimalistic, which sticks well with the identity of MUJI who uses neutral and toned down colors and Helvetica as its main typeface. WATASHI is packaged in two cardboard boxes joined by a burgundy paper that goes around them. One of the boxes has the two t-shirts which are half white and half black vertically. The other box contains the tools and inks for stamping as well as the manual. The stamps are abstract figures and some geometric ones such as a square, a circle or a triangle.

TZURU panel system product design naming 2021 System of modular units made of cork adaptable to the space within the context of teleworking with the aim of creating new living spaces in the post pandemic world. Designed to solve the new emerging problem of the lack of adaptability of the home environment. Tzuru panel system offers an adaptable solution to users with homes with limited space. We chose two panel sizes to facilitate multiple heights when designing the space. Both panel structures contain serial holes that, with the help of an external piece, allow them to be hung from the door so they can be picked up more easily.

The anchoring system allows us to generate an infinite number of spaces, thus being able to choose a suitable and adequate distribution for the needs of each user. The panels contain marks that serve as a guide to know the place where we have to fit the piece. This modular system consists of two parts: the panels and the sockets.
