The classes in the Equine, Racing and Gaming concentration bring real life situations to the classroom. Federal Indian Law, and Government Regulation of Gaming gave me insight into an incredibly complex and intricate field, while my class in Administrative Law allowed me to practice the skills I will need in a hearing in front of a government body. Through the concentration, I’ve experienced amazing opportunities such as legal research and drafting an argument for a prominent trainer liability case and the opportunity to participate in an administrative hearing with the State Gaming Commission. Albany Law also has a newly formed Equestrian Club, offering students the chance to ride. Thanks to the curriculum, I know I have the legal background and skills I will need to assist clients with the legal and business transactions that happen in the equine world every day.

The Equine, Racing & Gaming concentration has provided me with a practical learning experience taught by leading authorities within the industry. Professor Liebman’s Government & Gambling class gave students the opportunity to interact and network with practitioners within the racing industry. I made a connection at the annual Saratoga Institute conference with an Albany lobbying firm with a strong gaming presence and have worked with them for the past year. This has exposed me to a wide range of racing and gaming issues such as casino regulation, vendor licensing, and online poker. I plan to take the Nevada and NJ state bar exams and become immersed within the casino industry, whether it be representing the government or a casino at the corporate level.
