Neighbors for Safety Awareness

Have a neighborhood concern or want to refresh on safety awareness tips? The Albany Police Department is available to attend neighborhood meetings to talk about safety awareness and any other related concerns These meetings are intended to generate dialogue, provide information and strategies that encourage safety, and build understanding between neighbors For more information, contact 1(510) 559-4588 or email

Community Grocery Program

This temporary program provides healthy groceries and essential items to lower income Albany residents of all ages that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic Distribution takes place on the first Friday of the month at the Albany Community Center at 1249 Marin Ave Contact 1(510) 559-7227 or albanycares@albanyca.org to confirm eligibility and receive a bag monthly Walk-ins are available while supplies last

Parcel Tax Exemption & Renter Rebate Program

Every year the City of Albany offers exemptions for qualified homeowners and rebates for qualified renters on five eligible parcel taxes Participation has nearly doubled since the program’s inception For more information, call Albany CARES

Albany Project HOPE

Albany Project HOPE (Housing Opportunities Expanded) provides outreach, engagement, and housing navigation services to help people without housing

Landlord and Tenant Counseling

Residential tenants and landlords can receive referrals to the Rent Review Program which regulates most residential rental units in Albany and provides a mediation process for rent increases More information is available at: www albanyca org/rentreview Tenants and landlords can also request information and counseling on a range of housing law issues Contact Albany CARES for assistance
