2024 ALUMNI OF THE YEAR Alex Daniels
Albany Technical College recognizes Alex Daniels as the celebrated 2024 Alumni of the Year Award recipient. This accolade comes in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the construction industry and his ongoing commitment to community development projects.
A veteran superintendent at Pellicano Construction, Alex Daniels has been a leading figure in commercial and healthcare construction for over a decade. His expertise has been pivotal in numerous projects, notably the current collaborative endeavor, the Living and Learning Community, between Phoebe Putney Health Works and Albany Technical College.
Daniels began at Albany Technical College where he studied Carpentry and Construction. His education laid the groundwork for a career marked by excellence and leadership. Over the years, he has earned multiple accolades, including the Ron Amerson Safety Award from AGC – Georgia, which he has received six times.
Reflecting on his journey, Daniels shares, "I am deeply honored to be recognized as the Alumni of the Year by Albany Technical College. My education at Albany Tech was the foundation of my career in construction, providing me with the skills and knowledge to excel in this dynamic industry. I am proud to be a part of Pellicano Construction and to contribute to meaningful projects that impact our community, like the collaborative effort between Phoebe Putney Health Works and Albany Technical College. Every day, I am reminded of how my journey at Albany Tech enabled me to lead, innovate, and build confidently."
Daniels's role as a superintendent involves not just overseeing construction projects but also ensuring that they meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency. Mr. Daniels has built an admirable career over a decade, primarily focusing on the commercial and healthcare construction sectors. As a superintendent at Pellicano Construction since April 2011, Daniels has led various projects, from smaller renovations in occupied facilities to major, multiphased new constructions. His responsibilities cover a broad spectrum of construction management tasks, including pre-construction services, infection prevention, life safety, and comprehensive field management throughout the construction lifecycle.
His extensive training and certifications further bolster his qualifications. Daniels is Georgia Work Ready Certified and has completed the OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour safety courses, ensuring his workplace safety and regulatory compliance expertise. Additional certifications like the NPDES Blue Card and training in Silica Safety underscore his commitment to environmental and health standards critical in construction settings.
Throughout his career, Daniels has also continually upgraded his skills in advanced carpentry, electrical and plumbing systems, and even complex tasks like welding and operating heavy machinery. This blend of hands-on skills and leadership capabilities makes him a pivotal asset to any construction project, particularly those in the sensitive environments of healthcare facilities.
