DON BOSCO CAMBODIA CHILDREN FUND NEWSLETTER

Helping

Children to keep in the track of their

DREAMS

Kep

Dear benefactors, we are near the middle of the ďŹ rst month of 2018 and we keep our time busy at the Don Bosco Children Fund Cambodia. This year we started already with a new member: Mr. Cheng Chomneth, assistant of the Don Bosco Social Communication Delegation, who will help us to keep update all our networks and newsletters. At Don Bosco Kep we are thriving to establish a program we call Cultural Night every Saturday at 7:30PM in order to raise funds for our Don Bosco projects. It has been a little diďŹƒcult to get customers, but we keep doing. If you can help us in the promotion of this program, just telling people visiting Kep to come and enjoy a night of traditional Cambodian dancing and also a Khmer dinner for only 10 dollars, it will be a great help!

All the children under Don Bosco Kep came for the New Year’s Eve on December 31 and we celebrated the New Year with children from Takeo, Kampot and Kep. It was a wonderful night of music, dancing and gifts for our children. We are planning already the celebration of the Don Bosco Feasts in all our schools in Poipet, Battambang, Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville and Kep. We intend that our children come also and join the youth in their sport and cultural programs. Sihanoukville We are also happy to announce that, thanks to a Mercedes a volunteer in Sihanoukville, we are in the process of setting up a Don Bosco Children Fund Cambodia (DBCFC) website which will unify all of you (the sponsors) giving support for children´s education in Cambodia. With this site, you will be able to access a private area that will contain specific content about the child/children that you have sponsored. Each page for every child will contain their profile, pictures, videos and thank you letters. You will also be able to access general information about the child´s corresponding school and upcoming projects in areas which you might be interested in. The private area, is restricted to only you and not for public viewing. As we regard security and confidentiality very highly. The process will proceed that if you are interested, you will be able register on the DBCFC website. Following this your identity will be verified by your coordinator and once confirmed, you will have access to the private section and will therefore be able to review the student/students that you sponsor. We are very excited about this new project and hope you are too. Don Bosco sports day was a wonderful day filled with dancing, music, chanting, clapping, laughing and cheering as girls and boys whizzed past their team mates hoping to bring back victory! Down in Sihnoukville, the tug of war changed the definition of competition and Khmer rounders left footprints in the mud as teams sprinted around the pitch. The evening

before, the boarders had a singing competition using all Don Bosco songs which echoed beautifully round the little stadium. The day after, the Don Bosco quiz was held which went down a treat. The students got to show off their knowledge of the Don Bosco history with pride. Although much fun was had over the three days, the students also had plenty of time to reflect and be grateful for the chance to be part of Don Bosco and thankful to you for ensuring this could happen. Phnom Penh Some of the team in Sihnoukville also got the chance to travel round the provinces visiting many of the schools around Phnom Penh in order to take photos of the children so that their profiles would be up to date. It was a great opportunity to check the health and happiness of the children, to see the quality of the schools and talk to the teachers involved in their care. The students were all full of energy and excitement which meant the team was warmly welcomed.
