THINGS TO REMEMBER THE WEEK BEFORE YOUR
WEDDING
The secret to a stress-free wedding day comes down to planning for the details. Accomplishing these often forgotten tips can make a huge difference in your state of mind as you walk down the aisle.
6
1
Make sure you have breakfast and lunch planned for your wedding day. You’re going to need your energy and this might be your only chance to eat. Either arrange for food to be delivered or have someone pick it up.
2
Create a playlist of fun (but calming) music to get ready to.
3
Break in your wedding shoes by wearing them around the house. (And remind your groom to do the same.) You won’t want wedding day blisters!
4
Have your engagement ring cleaned.
5
Create and distribute a VIP schedule for friends and family who are involved in preceremony events.
6
Prepare envelopes with tips for your vendors and assign someone to hand them out.
7
Have sunscreen available for the day of if you’re planning to take lots of outdoor photos prior to the ceremony. Your cheeks should be rosy, not your shoulders! Also remember to avoid burning or creating visible tan lines prior to the wedding.
8
Arrange for a friend, family member or trusted neighbor to handle any mailed gifts that may arrive at your home while you are away on your honeymoon.
9
Have your honeymoon suitcase packed and ready to go. Don’t forget your passport, if needed!

edding Location: W Meghan: Drew and I were married at First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea. Our reception was held in a shop on my family’s farm. Why did you choose those locations? My parents were also married at First Presbyterian so it was special to have the wedding there. I wanted to personalize our wedding celebration and be able to decorate the venue ahead of the date. It was special to have the celebration on the farm. Did you have a theme for the wedding? I wanted a classy New Year’s wedding celebration. The colors we chose were cranberry red with gold accents. (Drew and I toured a Wisconsin cranberry farm when we were dating, and it was fun to incorporate the cranberries on our wedding day.) We decorated with a lot of evergreen and pinecones as well. We wanted the venue to feel welcoming to all those who entered. Tell us about the dress. My cousin owns Sarah’s Bridal Gallery in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and since the day she opened her shop I knew I would walk in one day to find “the” white dress I had always dreamed of. My dream came true with a white lace bodice dress with a tulle skirt and buttons running down the back. T ell us about the flowers. I had two bouquets. One was made of all evergreens and red berry, which allowed me

to carry it outside for photos. The second bouquet was all white with garden roses and ranunculus overflowing. At the reception we decorated with evergreen roping along the walls. At the tables we had fresh evergreen centerpieces filling the room with the fragrance of Christmas. T ell us about the cake. We wanted a special dessert that was different from the traditional wedding cake. We chose a family favorite cranberry cake with butter sauce drizzled on top and dolloped with whipped cream. To make this a reality we had the help of our dear family and friends who baked the cakes fresh the morning of the wedding in our farm house kitchen. Tell us about the favors. Our favors were personalized mugs. At the reception we had a hot chocolate bar set up where family and friends could warm up and use their mugs. Also at their place setting they found a newspaper we designed called,

“The S&P Report.” This gave the guests background information on the bride and groom along with games and trivia for them to enjoy prior to the meal being served. hat was your favorite detail? W The Christmas tree chandelier hanging from the center of the shop! hat were you most nervous about? W Tripping down the aisle! What was your most memorable moment? Standing at the front of the church and seeing all the support we had from family and friends who were there to celebrate with us. I remember looking out over the crowd of people while singing our favorite hymn, “Come Thou Fount” and being overwhelmed by the love and support we received from all those who came to celebrate with us. Our evening ended with a bang as fireworks went off after the last dance.
