What is one of your favorite pieces of advice that you’ve received? “Never leave a birdy putt short.”

What is your favorite thing about Albert Lea? You can go anywhere in this town and you’ll most likely see someone you know. I love it. It almost forces you out of seclusion and into relationships. I always want to see community pushed to the next level, away from suspicion and into trust. I like pulling people into a social environment where they may normally have avoided going because of it’s perceived awkwardness.

What is one of your favorite pieces of advice that you’ve received? “Just do the stuff.” This came from a dear friend who has been a great influence in my life and the shaping of my faith. It sounds simple and perhaps ineloquent, but the phrase can apply to any situation you deal with. As a Christian, I am expected to love others before myself, and referring back to this advice I am reminded to get back to the basics. If I want others to trust me, I just need to “do the stuff,” especially when nobody’s looking.

What were your favorite and least favorite school subjects? Favorite was English. I loved learning the “math” behind sentence formation, even if I’m not that good at it. I loathed etymology. I already know what the word means! Why do I have to spell it out ten times?! Trials of a middle schooler…

What were your favorite and least favorite school subjects? My favorite school subject was choir because I enjoy singing. My least favorite subject was math because I always struggled with it. If you had the chance to visit anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would love to go to Europe and adventure through cities, big and small. It would be neat to experience hospitality by travelling on a shoestring budget. I’ve heard a lot of great stories about people’s adventures there it inspires me to go myself.

If you had the chance to visit anywhere in the world, where would you go? Scotland. That’s the part of my heritage I feel is most relatable. What did you want to be when you grew up? A missionary like the Apostle Paul, as well as a film director who would rival George Lucas in his early days.

What did you want to be when you grew up? I’ve wanted to be a photographer since I was in eighth grade. I’m fortunate to be pursuing that career goal.

If you could own any animal as a pet, what animal would it be and why? Either a chocolate lab or an octopus of some type. Labs are simple and faithful to a good owner. Octopi are strangely intelligent and possibly more intellectual than dolphins.

Coming from a Midwest dairy farm, I think it would be interesting to tour the U.S. and see the different kinds of farmers in the nation. I also would like to see the Grand Canyon.

What were your favorite and least favorite school subjects? My least favorite subjects were science and math. I don’t think I ever had a favorite subject. It wasn’t until my college years did I discover how fun learning can be.

What did you want to be when you grew up? Teacher/coach or a mechanic, depending on the day.

What did you want to be when you grew up? I didn’t know back then and it changed daily. At one point it was a nurse then a hairstylist. At the end of the day I just was looking for a career where I was able to help people at some capacity.

If you could own any animal as a pet, what animal would it be and why? A Goldendoodle named Gus. Done and done. Goldendoodles are smart, they don’t shed and they pretty much act like a person. If you own one, you know what I mean.
