MORPHOLOGICS - DRL LONDON, UK MORPHOLOGICS aims to showcase the adaptability of architecture to different environments. Through geometric configurations MORPHOLOGICS is built as a dynamic alien structure that can be coherent with any surrounding area. During the design process the team researched and experimented with the triangulation of balls clusters, which lead to the design of a single piece that could be assembled into different shapes. Through geometry we found a path to archive different behaviors from the components. Optimal mass and coded connections became implicit in the pattern and holes of the components which allowed us to developed an ideal internal spine that allowed more flexibility to the design.

MEGAMINISTRUCTURES MIT CAMBRIDGE, USA MEGAMINISTRUCTURES works as a device that depending on the situational context exercises different actions. From being a parasite that adheres to existing buildings as a means of expansion and reuse of old structures to a protection shield to cope with the repercussions given by climate change to agglomerate and build dams around the edge. MEGAMINISTRUCTURES seeks to solve in a sustainable way the challenged proposed by the MIT “Under the unrelenting pressure of a global sustainability aesthetic, these 3 inventions are now being questioned: Skyscrapers have been exhausted as icons; freeways no longer relevant as durable infrastructure; and waterfronts are turning into park almost everywhere.”

MANDAI ECO-RESORT SINGAPORE Wow architects - The Mandai Eco-Resort aims to be an inspiring, eyeopening experience that leads the way in sustainable design in the tropics. The project and its systems adopt a biophilic attitude, blending into nature and becoming part of it. The key design objective is to bring the guest as close to nature as possible by blurring the interface between nature and the manmade at every opportunity. The design innovation aims for a low impact construction process, with sustainable materials and appropriateness of active and passive systems. The Mandai Eco-Resort tells the story of the rainforest not only by its biomorphic blending floating and branching forms that meander its way through the site, but it also describes the four major layers of the rainforest in section, allowing guest to traverse through the rainforest in multiple dimensions not normally afforded to humans.

ELEPHANT HOUSE COPENHAGEN, DENMARK WOW Architects – With the goal in mind to create a Sustainable lifestyle Icon for Copenhagen, the design experience aims to have the conservatory as a social hub of this unique Green Hotel that embraces HYGGE, to maximise our love for each other and the world around us with simple but responsible pleasures. The intervention consists in a veil that unites all four buildings to cerate a new heart for this urban oasis. The conservatory then becomes a climate moderator which encourage natural ventilation through convection enhanced by the breathing roof with the water feature.

MALVIDES MASTERPLAN DHIFFUSHI, MALDIVES WOW Architects – This project aims to propose a destination that is by design a series of worlds within worlds. More than just artificial islands, these rings of islands are habitats that have balanced ecologies whereby man lives in authentic harmony with the natural elements, cultivating both the flora and fauna of the terrestrial and marine worlds. The islands function as living ecosystems that evolve with time, and where man is an integral part. Maldives masterplan aims to awe, inspire, educate, and integrate guests and long term residents into a place of wonder, and profound wellbeing, leaving them with a sense of gratification, satisfaction, and the knowledge that our planet is a beautiful and precious place.

MARASSI RESIDENTIAL MASTERPLAN MARASSI, EGYPT. Wow architects - Marassi is set to become the north coast’s first upscale international destination and is on fast tracks to establish itself as a worldclass tourism, leisure and golfing holiday destination. The luxury villas descend from the hill into the deep turquoise sea. Each villa was created to respond to its own environment conditions creating a lifestyle of sheer pleasure for every holiday seeker. The Marassi masterplan combines a reinterpretation of Mediterranean elements with a traditional Egyptian village. The design was inspired by the sense of tranquility and solace of ancient Egyptian gardens. We took into account elements such as water, shades, colors, and aromas to create a space that provides serenity but also cultivates a sense of remembrance and belonging.

FOLDING STATIONS CHICAGO, USA Chicago BRT Stations - The Design challenge was to create a new emergent landmark that bring together transportation facilities through accessibility policies that create an integral transportation system allowing efficient mobility throughout the District. The ever-changing surface of a strip was used as inspiration. The proposal is a double curvature surface that works as a roof and envelope, becoming an iconic shape in the city and reference for regular users and visitors. Folding + shape allows more material configuration.
