Hello, I would like to collaborate with you! My name is Alberto Martínez Designer at heart, currently as an exchange student at the Escuela Técnica Superior of Madrid (Spain). Born in Puerto Rico, and at 27(y/o), I’ve had traveled to many countries including North America, Europe and the Middle East. Also, I’m passionate about everything I do and involves design thinking, problem solving and developing ideas. Last and most importantly, I have knowledge in different types of softwares ranging fields such as: word processing, 3D modeling, photo rendering, video editing and built models . Education Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, Bachelor in Architecture, 2012 to Present Fundamental design (3rd year studio), theoretical and construction coursework with elective work in historic preservation and architectural representation.
Educational Background Italy and France Study Abroad, Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, 2014 Extensive sketching and diagramming following the works of modern Italian architects such as Giuseppe Terrangni, Gio Ponti, Giovanni Muzio, Carlo Scarpa as well as Michelangelo, Brunelleschi, Andrea Palladio, and also studying different urban organizational strategies throughout the Veneto region.
Spain Study Abroad, Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, 2013 Following the tradition of “Le Grand Tour”, a route for touring around Spain was set to develop representation skills and also expand architectural knowledge through guided visits to buildings from the Renaissance period to Contemporaneity.
Documentation Projects Documentation of “Casa Cautiño”, March to June 2014 With the assistance of Professor Claudia Rosa-Lopez at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, Architecture Department-Conservation Laboratory, and part of a 13 member team who measured the house entirely. In charge of the front façade balcony details, employing field drawings and CAD work, adhering to HABS standards, to be submitted to the Charles E. Peterson Prize. Awarded 1st Prize.

Documentation of “Casa Velez-Cadilla”, November 2014 to January 2015 During the first term of the third year studio (Intermediate Design), revolving on the conservation and rehabilitation of buildings with historical value on the modern movement era. Developed freehand drawings and CAD work to document the main set of stairs inside the house. By the end of the term, and as a result of the documentation, an additional space was proposed and design for the house; a “Sala de Estar” (“Family Room”).

SOLO EN LA HABITACION MIRANDO AL FONDO FIJAMENTE, CAMINO HACIA ELLA, CERRAMOS LOS OJOS Y ME ENCUENTRO A LA MESA. ME LEVANTO Y CORRO HACIA LA PUERTA POR DONDE UNICO ENTRA LUZ BUSCANDO ESCAPAR EL OSCURO RECUERDO QUE EVOCA AQUEL ESPACIO VACIO. ALONE, STARING CLOSELY AT THE END OF THE ROOM, I WALK TOWARDS HER, I CLOSE MY EYES AND SUDENLY I'M SITTING AT THE TABLE. I GET UP AND RUN TO THE DOOR, THE ONLY SOURCE OF LIGHT IN THIS ROOM, TRYING TO ESCAPE THE DARK MEMORIES THAT BRINGS BACK THAT EMPTY SPACE.

ANTE UN ESPACIO SIN ESQUINAS, FRAGMENTADO INTERMITENTEMENTE POR PAÑOS DE CRISTAL, Y SOBRE SU CABEZA UNA CHIMENEA DE LUZ QUE BAÑA LAS PAREDES CON FORMA DE EMBUDO, CONTEMPLO LA GRANDEZA DE AQUEL LUGAR QUE PROPONIA LIBERARLE DE LA GRAVEDAD Y LE INVITA A VOLAR. BEFORE HIM A SPACE WITHOUT CORNERS, FRAGMENTED PARTIALLY BY GLASS PANES, OVER HIM A FUNNEL-SHAPED SKYLIGHT SOFTLY WASHING THE WALLS WITH LIGHT, THERE HE STAND WHATCHING THE GREATNESS OF THAT PLACE WHICH PROPOSSED FREEING HIM FROM GRAVITY AND INVITED HIM TO FLY AWAY.
